Yes a lot of them do. I have a close friend (black) that specializes in doing relaxers on caucasians. They love her and travel to her home in Delaware once she moved from Ny to there.

A lot of them Italian and Jewish and others have hair textures that are coarser than ours. Joy on the View always talks about how she has a relaxer cause naturally she has an afro.

But OT this is the way white people think they must relax their hair.... I use to work part time in a salon years back and this lady kept asking me "so I should put the relaxer all over right?" I was like, IDK how you do it but that's not how we do it.....She couldn't get the concept of new growth..... I kept asking her is this a virgin relaxing treatment?? cause if so yes ......anyway

Maybe she never relaxed before...this was a virgin

I have a Costa Rican friend who tried a relaxer. It softened up her curl a bit but it really did not take for some reason
So she was advised to get a Brazilian relaxer.
I think it works more for maybe some Italians or others who have texture closer to ours

My cousin got something similar to the Japanese straightening system in the Philippines, but she said it was called rebonding. She said it last for 6 months (meaning that it stays bone straight! I was shocked). When she immigrated here her mom didn't know what to do and she asked me where she can buy the rebonding treatment. I was so lost and felt bad cause I couldn't help. Any suggestions?

I honestly did not know the women of other races relaxed their hair, After watching the video I didn't think she needed it but I wonder if it creates the same issues some may have after relaxing such as breakage or not ...

i agree, no ones hair '' needs '' it but, when your hair is a 2.. why chemically relax when you can run a flat iron through your hair for probably 5 mins and get the same results? i just think that a chemical relaxer would do more harm to type 2 hair than flat ironing would. that's just my opinion.

My coworker is Filipino and she just had her hair straighten last week. I asked her was it a Japanese straightener and she said no. I forgot the name of it but she paid between $200-$400 to get it done. It supposed to last 6 months.

Tell your cousin to find a Filipino hair salon b/c that's what my coworker had to do. Her hair was unbelievable silky, shiny, bone straight.

There are many non blacks who relax their hair or use other form of semi permanent straightening.
Not directed at the OP, just an observation in general, I find a lot of BW seem relieved when they find out we aren't the only ones. I ever understood why, esp. since where still the majority.

Okay, did she just put on an "Original Gangsta" plastic workout suit to apply a relaxer. You might as well loose some water weight while you straighten your hair. Multi-tasking...cool
