Anyone else itching for a twa?

i've never had hair short hair and i would love one they are so cute but i want long hair more at this point i think when i do become WL i may cut it off and actually do something dramatic.

maybe a few years down the line yeah but for now i want long hair then short hair then i'll grow it back again
 
Question: How many months of growth typically count as a TWA?


I know it depends on personal growth cycles etc etc, but if I BC after 14 months would my hair most likely still be in the TWA phase? That would give me almost 8" of hair provided I stay on the wagon, but with shrinkage it might look like 2"!
 
You are not alone Que I have been thinking about it myself. I will probably wait until next spring when the weather starts getting warm again. Winters in NY are too brutal for me to rock a twa.

I guess it would depend on the person. But I am talking about going super short like a man's hair cut. So even stretched it will only be about an inch if that. Q

Yeah I think a spring cut is what I am aiming for too. I am just happy to know I am not the only one with the urge!!! Q
 
I feel like shaving my hair off and starting a fresh. my last BC was 2006....:ohwell:

i think i feel this way because my hair was breaking the other day for the first time in years :(

NO! U R NOT ALONE! i feel the urge to cut all the time. i was just in my bathroom imagining scissor screaching sounds as i fingered my hair. i want that afro afro look again. for me the longer my hair grows the less of an afro i have. i am trying to hold out and maybe just try some diff styling options, but i really am thinking about taking that leap come january 09.

Seriously, getchaself a wig or weave (Not sure how that huge mane will be hidden underneath, but you'll figure sth out). Just don't you dare snip a hair off that head.

I had a dream last night that I went to a salon and this girl tried some new treatment that ate up one side of my head. So I had to go ahead and cut the rest off. I had to put braids in to resist the urge. Q

Yeah it really depends. I had my last one as a natural. I just had it blowdried and cut to a 2-3 inch fro. I would say anywhere between 2-4 inches shrunken or not is a twa. Anything shorter is a buzz cut and anything long is a regular fro. Q

You can always grow it back!!!

I understand EXACTLY what you are going thru.

I never got to enjoy my TWA and at times I wanted to BC just so I could get that TWA back so I could revel in the moments..
 
I keep threatening to cut all my hair off. I would LOVE to have my less than an inch TWA back. People keep saying it's the pregnancy hormones making me think irrationally. LOL. I've always been the type of person to cut just because I felt like it. However, I did promise my husband I wouldn't cut again after going natural, and I would love to see how long I can grow my hair.


Then, I'll cut it all of and tell my husband: "Baby, I swear I was just trying to get a trim." :lachen:
 
Que, when you first posted this, I thought you were nuts. Now, I kind of feel you. I did a wash n go last night, and I looked in the mirror and felt kind of sad that I never really had a TWA, like, an inch of hair. I think that look is so beautiful, and if I could do it just for a day or two, I definitely would.:yep:

You still can't, though. :lachen:
 
I have rocked a twa 4 times! I've been natural since '94, my first Big Chop. I say think about if for 6 months before you do it.

I found my hair happy medium! I love my hair best at apl, anything longer than that and I get the itch to cut it all off!
 
I have never met a lady with long hair who cut it and didn't regret it later. I agree with one of the earlier comments - buy a wig or get someone to do a weave that's a short style. You can do this with a cap weave or you can also do this with a braid in weave.
