16 years lol i never trimmed my ends before i started my hair care journey and they seemed fine but i has split ends.since starting to look after my hair i would say 6 months i due for another trim

Going on 9 months and that is too long for me. I think I need to take about an inch off. I'm getting a trim next month. Afterwards, I will go back to getting a trim after each touch up.

1 year and I barely cut off a quarter of an inch probably less... photos in my fotki ... I'm pushing for that again... since I BC'd in July 2008... I don't plan to trim until July 2009 I can probably go longer than that since I'm natural... I really don't care if it's perfectly even and since I don't ever use heat... I think I can go maybe 2

I was just thinking about this the other day. I was trying to think long and hard. I know it was sometime back in the 90s but I've just begun my "healthy hair" journey.

When you where growing you hair and it was shoulder length
how often would you trim and how much?

every other relaxer, that was every 4 months at the salon, so i was prob more than a trim (a cut), I would say just dust to be on the safe side..;)

In the past, maybe a couple of years? It'd get to the point where one day I would take my hair out to wash or something and then really pay attention and I'd be like "Holy moly, it's been growing!!!"

Other than childhood? I think this is the longest time, and I'm going on 6 months. I don't have any split ends though, but I need to cut my hair so it's all even again.

Two years...I was in college at the time and had HORRIBLE breakage due to improper hair care and overprocessing. I went home one weekend and got an updo. I kept it that way for 2 weeks and when I took it down to wash, I noticed some growth. As a result, I continued the use of the "updo"...now known as my protective style....without trimming or cutting for two years. When I went back to that same stylist some two years later, she told me that my ends were bad but not due to damage just due to me not cutting/trimming them.
I told her I wanted a tapered bob (higher in the back, longer on the sides) and she said "girl, I'm not cutting your hair!" She gave me a trim and sent me on my way with my shoulder length bob

I took off about three inches about a year and a half ago and I haven't trimmed since then. I don't use heat often at all and I have't worn my hair straight in about a year and a half as well, so I don't see a need for a trim anytime soon.

I trim every 6 months after I do a length check. I trim less than 1/4" because I don't use a lot of heat.

2 years from 10-14 I'd get a trim every 2 years but after that I'd trim yearly and now more frequent oddly enough thats when I got single strand knots after trimming more often and thats when I was relaxed but now it's been every 6-8 weeks BUT a change is a comin lol. I did a search and destroy in November and now guess what I'm not cutting my hair until May as long as I don't have knots so we shall see :). I'm doing this cause my granny told me something and I don't know if it's true but she said never cut it in the winter

It's been about 4 years now for me. Not planning on it anytime soon. Might search and destroy though.
