Are any pj's slowing down with buying?

I've slowed down considerably. Surprisingly, cheapies like CON work best for me. I won't be buying anymore poo or condish until I use the rest of what I have including that darn 5 lb tub of Humecto. :ohwell:

I haven't slowed down but I'm on a serious mission to find my staple products as a natural. I'll quit PJ'ing once I achieve this goal.:look:

I have slowed down a lot. The BUY NOTHING challenge has helped. There are things i want to try but i think about responsibilities i have and then i convince myself that the products can wait or either i can ask for it as a gift.

I've definitely slowed down...I did a complete overhaul of my stash and gave a lot of stuff away, threw stuff out that I knew wasn't going to be given away even if I paid someone to take it. Just like Kieva said, I'm in a less is more mood right now, so I'm not using as much stuff. I find that the money that I'm not spending on hair though, I am spending on other things like makeup...

I know I'm trying... Ok maybe not... I just can't find anything else to buy.

I've only been on this board for 4 months and I can hardly find any product that's being raved about anymore that I haven't already bought. I've been spending so much money on hair products - mostly DCs - I've event stopped buying new shoes for a couple of months. Knowing me, that's pretty sad. :ohwell:

Anyways, I was asking for recommendations for tried and true products on this thread: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=250123 and I'll see how it helps. Maybe I can finally zero in on a few good ones.

Good thing is, I don't have to buy anything - I've already got most of the ones being recommended.

Well maybe except Kenra MC... I've gots to get that :lachen:

Yes kenra MC is a must have

I've slowed down a lot. I found that the new stuff I was buying wasn't any better than what I already have. Also, as my hair got healthier, I didn't need to look for a miracle in a bottle anymore.

I still keep lists of things I might want to try but I don't feel like I have to go right out and get it.

what she said! Right now I am on a personal "just use it up" challenge.

I've slowed down a lot - the Buy Nothing challenge definitely helped! Makes it easier when you are suffering along with others. :lachen:

I definitely have! I used to be in the 'What Did You Buy' thread 3-4 times a week. I rarely post in there any more. I've just been buying my regulars. I have found stuff I love and that continues to work for me. :yep:

:look: I do plan on trying the Philosophy masque and marinade that Allandra talks about, though.:ohwell:

I really have slowed down on buying hair stuff. For right now I think I have a pretty good regimen so I'm just sticking with it.

Yes --- Most definitely ! I am on a serious NO BUY for haircare/skincare AND makeup. I am not purchasing any beauty/hair/skin products till November ! :nono:

I think I was a PJ for about a month when I started to lurk here. Then I got my CC bill and I was like "nah, dog..." On top of that, the women with the hair I covet the most don't seem to use that many products and/or use moderately priced stuff.

I've definitely slowed down. Yesterday, I was about to pick up a bottle of Jane Carter's Leave-In, but I put it back when I remembered I have close to a full jar of HE LTR Leave-In and a random Lacio Lacio lying around. I will eventually buy the Jane Carter leave-in, but I'm forcing myself to wait till I almost finish some bottles. Besides the JC, I want more Burdock Root Butter Creme and perhaps either peppermint or tea tree oil for my scalp oil mix. That's about it...

i slowed down a lot this past year. the only new thing i bought was the mega tek. my basket of hair products used to be jam packed and now there is lots of space. im still looking for a deep con and i love conditionars so those are the only things i will buy whenever i feel to. other than that, i've got my staples.

I've slowed down a whole lot over the past six months or so. I no longer run out and buy every hair product that receives a good review. When I do buy hair products, it is to re-stock. I've found which products work for me and I'm sticking to them.

:yep: I'm still looking for that perfect DC that will make my hair stand up and sing - I feel like I've gotten close with some of my homemade stuff, but I'm just not quite there yet.

You're not helping :nono:

:grin::lachen:
:blush::lachen:
My bad chick....but seriously this conditioner is wonderful and it stopped me from buying 50-11 other conditioners and deep conditioners that didn't work.Kenra is like crack-I just keep coming back:grin:

Do you use a pre-made conditioner base or do you start it all from scratch?I've always wanted to make my own DC.

The 'true' homemade one, I start from scratch and is mostly food. My 'mixologists' ones are usually combos of other stuff.

I use a LOT of con, too, so I'm keeping an eye on the price per ounce - and most of the stuff it's just - :nono: - sis can't swing that.

I've been using up the random things I have laying around but I just realized that I love looking at
full shelves of hair products like I have my own hair boutique.

This gives me hope.I think I must be getting better because
I didn't run out and get that new redken

I'm still a newbie so I made a lot of purchases initially just trying new things... but yes I've slowed down. I cured myself by stocking up on the items I love.

Oh well:ohwell:, I guess I can blame this one on you. Off to get a bottle...and if it works for me, I'll surely be thanking you.

THIS IS THE LAST DC I'M BUYING IN A VEEEEERY LONG TIME:wallbash:.

I've definitely slowed down A LOT. I used to be BAD. Now a have a few staples that are simple and work. I actually use products up fully now

:look:

I've been using up the half empty bottles and throwing out the things that didn't agree with my hair at all.I must admit I miss getting packages every other day.My shelves and cabinets look so empty.:nono:

Oh nooooo, you're throwing things out? Maybe you should send them to me ElleDoll:grin:. They just might love my hair. I am a mixolologist so I know I'd find something to do with them:yep:.

Any hoo, I am very much curbing my PJism a lot, especially since completing 2 months of BUY NOTHING challenges (May and June, 2008). Those challenges have actually helped me a great deal. My shelves are looking far fromempty, I've used up quite a bit of stuff and given a lot of them away to my sister and neices and I still have a lotta stuff:grin:.

At least I haven't bought much in the last few months or so. I will continue to purchase MT and OCT for a long while I think though.
