What is a chelating poo?

I think chelating shampoos removes chlorine metals and impurities found in hard water and pools. It also removes traces of relaxer chemicals.

Chelating shampoos rid hair of calcium and mineral build-up, which you can get from certain proteins and No-Lye relaxers. If you have hard water in your area, use this poo. Once you use it more consitently, your conditioners actually penetrate better, which will give your hair more moisture in the long run. If hard water is your issue, I have heard some LHCFers buying certain shower heads known to filter out minerals.

Do relaxer kits contain a chelating shampoo? (Or is that just a nutralizer) Can any of you ladies recommend a good chelating poo? I know there have been threads on this before, but I'm lazy :P

A clarifying shampoo is a deep cleansing shampoo that removes product buildup. Conditioners and daily styling aids can cause buildup overtime, and can weigh the hair down, making it flat, lifeless, dull and dingy. Use it periodically to give hair a clean fresh start. I usually follow my clarifying shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo, 'cause they can be a bit stripping.

The only one I have ever used is Quantum. I bought a huge bottle of it over a year and a half ago and it is still going strong, 'cause I only use a little. The other ladies should be able to suggest other brands.

*Vitale No Lye Sensitve Scalp Relaxer comes with chelating neutralizing shampoo.

Alot of neutralizing shampoo's chelate but it will say so. ORS kits come with the aloe shampoo which chelates as does Mizani neutralizing poo

OT but I love that site

I found it interesting: It depends on which clarifying, chelating, or neutralizing shampoos you’re talking about. That’s because all companies don’t follow the same definitions for their products.

What it is:
A chelating agent can chemically bind with minerals and keep them from depositing on your hair. At least that’s the theoretical basis for this kind of formula. We’ve never seen it demonstrated in practice. I thought THAT was interesting too.

I like absolutes people.....
