I'm gonna try this relaxer with my next touch up which will be feb. They say no lye relaxers are more drying to the hair then lye. Nowadays everytime I've been getting a lye relaxer my hair has been underprocessed. Back when I use to use no-lye my hair seemed to thrive. I guess maybe my hair has just got used to the lye relaxers i dunno. Mizani, dudley and Affirm doesn't work on my hair anymore and these are all lye relaxers and with DE my hair was underprocessed as well. I have no problem forking out $60 for this relaxer. Now if I could find it here in Arizona I would go buy instead of ordering it online. If any of you ladies know of a place here in AZ where I can buy it please let me know.

I have 4b hair, if I want to texturize should i use index I or II? The reason I am asking is because the last time I relaxed with phyto some parts came out underprocessed (dry and frizzy) and i am afraid if I texurize it will all come out that way.

I definately won't be trying this relaxer because it's NO-LYE and I just discovered that my hair does not like NO-LYE relaxers, it left my hair underprocessed and I had to do a corrective relaxer, (never had this problem ever before) it also left my hair looking drier than the desert.

How did you figure out your hair doesn't like no-lye? I've used Phyto for my last two relaxers (loved it the first time, not so much the second) and I'm trying to pinpoint my issue: is it the perm, or am I not moisturizing enough. Just wondering what helped you figure it out.

I just tried it for the first time 3 1/2 weeks ago and love it! I don't think I'll ever go back to any other relaxer. The stylist that applied it obviously knew what she was doing because my hair came out just as straight as any other relaxer, minus the burning. I purchased one of their products that I put on my hair everyday and so far I've had very, very little hair in my hands or comb. My hair is shiny, manageable and seems fuller. I think the key is knowing how to apply it. If you are doing it yourself it might take a few times to get it right.

I've used Phytorelaxer years and I love it. Sometimes the price gets to me and I try something else - always to my regret. Phyto relaxer and Phyto shampoos and conditioners - forever!

My hair thanks me everytime - full, soft, lots of body, managable. I love the Phytojoba shampoo and conditioner; they work so well for my hair. I also love the Phytoneutre shampoo.

I think I'm going to try it in April/May. This will be my first self relax in like 6 years, and don't have a problem paying the price since I was paying $90 a pop at the salon!!

Those who said its how you apply the relaxer is absolutely correct. If you want your hair straighter, you do have to kinda pile it on. I just relaxed today and some parts were unintentionally very super straight. Only left it on 30 mins...ooo baby! a lil too straight but still have tons of body.

For those getting ready to try it out; definitly go through polly and co if you haven't gotten it yet. I get my orders from her within a few days. They're in Colorado, I'm near boston and if I order on a monday, I get it by thursday....plus ,the price is good plus you do get fullsized samples (always a plus)

The other thing, rinsing is a ...well.. its a pain in the posterier:lol: Hint; this last relaxer I used a 10:1 water/acv mix. (10 parts water, 1 part acv) After I rinsed the relaxer I used this in place of my acidifying conditioner (porosity control, Nexxus Ensure) and left it on for 2 minutes. I then proceeded to shampoo.

This serves 2 purposes,

1. being that ACV has a PH of about 4.5 it does a fantastic job of immediately neutralizes the relaxer. (I paid very close attention to getting it around the edges and on the scalp and let it just run all the way through my hair) I give it a 2 minutes to just drip down and get in there. I don't think it needs too much time.

2. It helps to remove tangles. I have a much easier time shampooing because I don't have tangles at the ends of my hair. I notice when I shampoo I get this even more as my hair grows longer..thats especially true during relax time.

No Vinegar smell afterwards and my gray hairs look white and sparkly too (guess it removes a relaxer film quite well!)

only takes 2 shampoos to get those ultra white suds using this method and its a wonderful time saver.

I used to shampoo about 10 times:perplexed and it would take all darn day.

I seriously think that you could go with an even weaker solution than that but its what I know that really works well.

I've used no-lye relaxers only a few times in my relaxer life and it comes out under processed (even if it came out straight it would be), dry and very dull looking. So I figure hey why fix something that isn't broke, I'm sticking to what I know works. Plus, since I've used Lye relaxer the majority of my relaxing life I've notice my hair straightens easier, leaves it shiney, soft and silky, with lots of body, and this is with airdried hair and no products added to my hair.

Now one of my customers will be having this line in her salon in a few wks. and she is giving me the honors of applying it, boy I can't wait to see what the hype is about. She is excited, and wants to try it out on herself b4 any of her clients.

I'm glad you shared this, several people have said the same thing. I will probably just mix up the entire kit instead of splitting it in half because I like for my hair to be 80-90% straight.

I have 4a/4b hair and I tried phyto index 2 this May. Guess what! I loved it!! It left my hair silky straight with body. I will continue to use this relaxer.

This is an awesome tip! Thank you :) .

well, i used phyto for the 3rd time yesterday and i'm loving it. my hair looks/feels like natural hair that's been blowdried which is great for me. ORS was nice but it left my hair so flat/lifeless. Phyto is a keeper! even though it was on for about 40mins my hair my hair isn't damaged at all. I used index 1. i'm 4a/b.

I relaxed for the third time with Phyto II...but this time myself and I LOVE how my hair has turned out...after my cut I thought my hair was gonna be super short but its actually not too bad...really straight esp after using control freak its super straight but with lots of volume. I used the acv rinse too and that helped otherwise I would have been there for hours too!! I rinsed it well first though then used the acv. I felt it helped me in a few ways...hair was strong and shiny! I also used a conditioner after the acv then used the shampoo and that helped me with moisture...my hair dries out super fast!
Also it does matter about the amount you use, the more you use the straighter it is so you can control it totally!!!
Im very pleased with myself...i did a great job if i may say so myself! lol

I did not want to use index 2 because I felt it would straighten my hair too much so I used index 1 for 30 min 12 min to apply and the rest to pull through (over extremely underprocessd texlaxed hair with affirm fiberguard) I hated affirm figerguard it straightens my hair tooo much when I texlax with it unless I do an extreme underprocess and it always burns the hell out of my scalp. No burning with photo but my ears did get somewhat burned so be sure to base your forehead and ears.

My hair has body beautiful body, I still have all my curles only they are sssssssstreched and so unbelievably soft I don't have words for it and so extremely unusually unbelievably shiny. Never has a relaxer ever made my hair shiny EVER. Also, this is weird my thin hair feels thicker and stronger. I don't understand this but it does feel thicker and stronger. When I washed the relaxer out of my hair it felt bone straight and I though OMG it made my hair bone straight.... but as soon as I got out and lightly squeezed my hair with a towel I could see the body and big stretched spiral and s curls take shape and I was in heaven.

This is the curl of my dreams what I've always wanted and have never been able to get until NOW! I am in wash and go dream land and I don't ever wanna wake up.

Extremely important SERIOUSLY don't stop rinsing untill your suds are white, use the vinegar rinse described earlier in this post somewhere if you are impatient. I want to try the vinegar rinse next time cuz this takes forever to get out of your hair with the neutralizing shampoo. I washed and rinsed so many times I lost count but I can say it took 30 min to get it all out and the suds white.

This is how hair gets ruined by relaxing or texlaxing no matter if you use lye, thio or phyto. Salons never rinse long enough they should be washing and rinsing for at least 20-30 min ur lucky if they do it for 5 min. That's how my hair got ruined and broke and burned off for the last 8 years cuz they don't rinse out the relaxer 100% and as far as I know all stylists refuse to wash and rinse you for that long they just wont do it. Maybe you can talk them into doing the vinegar rinse then if they wash n rinse for 5 min no problem.

APPLICATION DETAILS THAT WORKED FOR ME: I sprayed my hair lightly with silk protein, if you spray too much it makes your hair hard.

When I applied the relaxer I start in the areas that are most resistant and mirrored putting the relaxer in the opposite side so it would relax even. Meaning if I pulled relaxer through a section of hair on the left back of my head immediately after I pulled relaxer through the right side of the hair in the same exact location. That way my hair relaxes evenly so my hair isn't longer on one side and shorter on the opposite side.

I did not comb my hair out before relaxing. I left my natural curls in. I did this on purpose because I wanted to strech the curls and get rid of shrinkage not straighten my hair and it worked!!!!

During the smoothing out period: I did not comb my hair out when the relaxer was in my hair. Instead I pulled the hair in sections from root to ends evenly thought my head, but no comb at all. I had like 16 sections that had relaxer in them, the sections were flat and straight because I pulled relaxer through from roots to end.

I did not use my fingers to comb through it. I placed my fingers over the top and bottom of the section and squeezed down then pulled from root to end, my hand was shaped like a squished c with the section of hair in the middle of it. Any excess relaxer that accumulated at the end of the section was put back on the section.

I mirrored the sections I pulled, so if I pulled a left back section for a 5 sec or so then I immediately pulled the right section for 5 sec or so then move on to the other sections and start over again when all 16 sections had been pulled through, until it was time to wash out. Sometimes I would concentrate on areas where I have extra shrinkage and wanted more stretching, in order to shape my hair into the wash and go style I wanted.

PRODUCTS I USE

#1 Noodle head leave in style aid this makes my curls POP
#2 Silk Amino Acids (for added softnes) I mix this with my noodle head 4 parts noodle head 1 part SAA mix together and put in another container so I don't have to mix everyday.

Best conditioner: Neutrogena Tripple Moisture (NTM) also add 2-5 capfuls of SAA to my conditioner bottle in the shower. Since NTM comes in a tube I have to keep both in another bottle.

Best shampoo: I mix paul mitchcel clarifying shampoo I think it's number one and NTM (3 parts NTM 1 part shampoo) I have to wash twice for this to clean my hair. It will not suds up at all 2nd wash makes sure all hair gets wet and clean. I wash everyday with this.

I've been using Phyto for over 3 years now (after being natural for 2 years), and it's the only relaxer I'll put in my hair. I have coarse, 4b hair and scalp irritation from conventional relaxers caused my hair to fall out. Phyto doesn't burn or irritate my scalp, and it gets my hair straight. It's a keeper for me!

God bless.

I used Phyto Index 2 my last relaxer and it left my hair limp and lifeless :perplexed I used it after reading the rave reviews on this site and was incredibly disappointed! I think maybe I should have used index 1 instead. I'm really on the fence about whether or not its worth for me to use the index 1 on my next relaxer or just switch to a lye relaxer instead...I would love to get the results that so many of you have had, but I'm not sure its worth the $60...
