Thanks Faith. Jackie1277 others on this board have compared Phytorelaxer to Elucence Relaxer. I am tempted to try this one.

I won't use it again. With each application, my hair gets more and more DRRRYY. It was great at first, but now I can't take it. I've never had a problem with dry hair before... not like this. After my last TU it took a week of intense moisturizing and DCing to get my hair to act right. I love no lye, but not Phyto.

You know it's interesting reading all these reviews b/c I'd say 6 months ago if anyone had asked me what I thought of Phyto I would say it's the bomb!

But now i'm wondering if Phyto (and it's no lye-ness) is the reason my hair HAS been coming out really frizzy AND dry ever since using it now. In the beginning for the first 2 or 3 touchups it was great but now I'm wondering. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but maybe it's the PHyto!

Which saddens me cuz I really do like it and I loved how it didn't burn etc, but at the same time I've never used another relaxer to self-relax.

Does anyone have suggestions of some good relaxers?

Do people really think that some types of hair NEEDS lye?

Some people have found that their hair responds best to lye. If your hair loves lye, stick with it. Lye relaxers hate me, though.

Ok I just ordered the Index 2. I dropped $46 plus $10 shipping on that relaxer!

That is just WAY too much cash to pay for a relaxer, but I want to see what all the hype is about. I hope it is worth it.

Salons that use it charge way more, so I guess I am getting a deal.

I look forward to using it and reviewing it.

Where did you order from? I wanted to go to a salon but I might do it myself. I just called a salon and they told me it would be $180.

I just had index 2 done at a salon here in atlanta last week after a 3 month stretch. Some parts of my hair were really underprocessed. but i think i just had so much new growth that the lady just didn't smooth thru it enough, particularly at the crown where my hair is thickest.

But, i like the fact that it didn't burn and it didn't smell loud. the parts that did get straight enough feel pretty good-its not stick straight and dried out like the parts of my hair that have been previously relaxed with affirm lye.

we'll have to see how it does in the long run. next time i just have to find somebody who will do a better application. i'm sticking with it for right now;)

Polly is awesome, been using her since last Sep, and she gets it to me within 3 days!! Phyto rocks!!! I buy it and do it yself, this time around underprocessed some area, but oh well, still love it!!

I'm transitioning to natural, now, but although, Phytorelaxer did sound intriguing, it was just way too expensive for me.

Ok I'm confused, I went to the website and I read that the relaxer is CHEMICAL- FREE but it has Guanidine Carbonate . Is this not a chemical? Can someone please explain this to me.

NEVERMIND.. This is what I found on the web. so, I guess chemical relaxers has calcium and sodium and this relaxer has neither, which makes it chemical free.

Guanidine Carbonate is an alkaline, organic salt utilized primarily as an ingredient in hair straightening and depilatory systems. When combined with calcium hydroxide in (no-lye) hair relaxers it reacts to form a less irritating system than sodium hydroxide-based (lye) systems. It also is used as a buffering agent and a pH adjuster.

I have not tried Phyto relaxer, and I am torn on the decision. I am 6 months post relaxer and thinking about trying again. I have had a journey with relaxers. I used Mizani for years then had a stylist to tell me how "fried" my hair was right before she BC'd it and started using DE. I admit that my hair was less frizzy and striaghter with the lye relaxer, but when that stylist decided to stop doing hair, I went to another stylist who continued to use DE on me but regular strength. All I can say is my head felt like it was on fire every time it was relaxed from that point, and I even left the salon with some burns on my scalp. I finally got fed up and decided to chill on the relaxers for a while. I have since discovered this board and got braids to give my hair a break. I hear that Phyto doesn't burn, but I am scared of under processing and over drying my hair--at six months post, I still am not sure. I'll let you guys know.

I've been using Phytorelaxer for about a year and a half now and so far my hair loves it!

I just did my first phytorelaxer. I used index 1 and my hair came out , well it looks and feel bone stright. I think I went over my time by 5 maybe 10 min. But I have this great body, my hair is not stuck to my scalp like other relaxers and I had vitrualy no shedding. I have been streching my relaxer for 7 months. So far am giving phyto two thumbs up.

Voted No I am not tempted to try it, only because I'm afraid it will leave my hair looking underprocessed, at least that is what I have heard from the ladies who don't like bone straight hair/would rather have some curl left. I am tempted to try Vitale Mo Body and will be making that purchase, 16wks from the 17th for my next touch-up. (need to use my last temptation, but if I like it I won't purchase anything else, can't take anymore boucing around)

I did try it and I will not be using it again. It woud be great if you are texlaxed, but I want my hair straight since my hair isn't long. My last touch-up was with phyto and I was very disappointed. The conditioner that comes with the relaxer is EXCELLENT. I used that tube until nothing could come out!!! There are plenty of relaxers on the market that are just as good as phyto at a fraction of the price.

I tried Phytorelaxer I as a texturizer and it was ok at first and then my hair started feeling dried out so I big chopped after 2 months and cut it all out. I am now short again and 100% natural and love this much better.

For me it's just the opposite. Best relaxer I have ever tried, but my hair hates the reconstructor in the kit.

I just had my year end touch up.....I LOVE....LOVE....LOVE.....
LOVE  ....this relaxer....

hair is shiny & soft...

I mixed the milky reconstructor with the Intense Nutrition Mask for a nice super charged Phyto treat...

I have done my research and found a lady here in the city of Detroit who uses this product after having contacted Phyto. Her name is Andria and she is located in Detroit behind the Fischer Building. She specified that she charges approx. $75.00 for relaxer and styling. I don't have the money right now to shell it out but, shortly after the holiday's this will be the treat to myself.

Here I come Phyto!!!!!

I have a new phyto relaxer index II relaxer I just ordered and received but had not opened because I had a change of heart so if any oneone wants to buy, PM me. I bought it for $60 with free shipping so since it's not opened and never used I am willing to sell it for $57.00 with free shipping.

Thx
P.S.
I will be posting this on the for sale board but

Update: I now love phyto again. My problems with dryness and tangling were caused by not neutralizing properly. I don't know why, but this relaxer is was harder for me to neutralize than the TCB I'd been using. Once I got this part down, I saw the fabulous results everyone else is talking about.

I'm also noticing that this relaxer is allowing me to stretch longer. I may be able to wait a full 12 weeks or longer this time.

Your hair is beautiful Princess Pie!

I had a similar experience. I have been using Phyto Index 1 for over a year now but it was drying out my hair so I switched to Elucence Lye Mild for my last relaxer. Yes, my hair was soft, etc., but I missed the body and bounce I got with Phyto so I am switching back permanently. Now that I am incorporating henna in my routine, I don't think I will have dryness problem again. Also, my hair was underprocessed with Elucence even though I left it on for 40mins:eek: I also believe that my hair thrives better with phyto than a Lye relaxer as is evident from my ziggy.

I came to a realization about Phyto too. You have to use a generous amount of relaxer if you want your hair straight and less relaxer if you don't. I think the amount matters more than the length of time. :yep:

This is interesting...because when I initially started using Phyto and took it to the Dominican spot...it was claimed the whole thing had to be used....

but my cousin touched up my whole head with half a jar the other day...
I don't have thick hair...that could be it too....density of the hair...
I was thinking the length of time played a part more than the amount....

I tried it and liked, no loved the way it made my hair feel. It felt soooooo soft, Many people claim that it dosen't burn the scalp, I did experience some burning...maybe I'm just extra sensitive:confused:     . I will use it again

Do any of you ladies find that your hair tends to be on the dry side since using Phytorelaxer. I read that no-lye relaxers dry the hair out.
My Personal experience is no. My hair is not dryer after using. It was actually softer and felt more moisturized, not to metion it appeared thicker.
