I read it was texturized as well - I think she said so in a hair magazine.

But you know-I generally notice a trend. When someone appears mixed and they have curly or long hair-it is never questioned. ..but to have this sort of texture and length on someone who is not, people assume it must be a texturizer of some sort and not their natural texture. Just something I've observed..carry on

ITA, I think that she has a texturizer or something. To me this looks like a braidout personally. Who knows what "stars" do with their hair, we'll never know?!

Braid your hair in about 10 large braids while wet or damp with a butter and leave it to dry overnight (If you want the ends to curl wrap them around perm rods). Undo in the morning.

I always thought that was her natural texture b/c she's mixed. But you can definately achieve that look with a braidout

I agree about trying a braidout on damp hair, maybe with some shea or avocado butter. And don't forget the coconut oil (for shine) after you unravel the braids.

I've always wondered about her hair! I did a little search and hear is an interview on regiman (off to search some more for us):
"Jolie : What do you use for your hair?
Tracee : For the Love of God, woman! [Laughter] If I'm going to wear my hair natural, with my natural curl pattern the best products are Aveda. I use the Cherry/Almond Bark Conditioner and the Deep Penetrating Revitalizer. And I use a Deman brush. There's another amazing product called Mixed Girls, and I use that when my hair is wet and then my hair curls up really nicely. I alternate between the Mixed Girls Leave-In Conditioner and Elixor for when I want to wear my hair natural, you know like wash and go. Now, if I'm going to put heat on my hair, I use Kerastase. It's an intense conditioner. Then I style with Chi Blowdryer and Curling Iron. They're ceramic and they're ionic. And they are what I've used for the last two years. They have changed my hair! I never used to put any heat on my hair because it would ruin the curl pattern. My hair is actually in better condition then where it started.

Last year's November's issue of Black Hair and Braids also lists out each of the women of Girlfriend's hair regimens. It states some of the same things from the article earlier listed but also a little more. It reads:
Q:Off set, how do you care for your hair?
A-Tracee: I wash my hair once a week. I use a couple different shampoos. Once a month, I use the Aveda Shampure and at the same time I'll also rinse with the Rene Furterer Vinegar Rinse. But if you don't want to spend that much you can use apple cider vinegar and cut it with water. Your hair will shine, but you can't use it all the time because it will dry your hair out. On a regular basis, I use the Gold Wells Conditioning Shampoo. On a weekly basis, one of my beauty secrets is that I steam. I go to one of the Korean day spas. I fill my hair up with Gold Well Kerasilk Conditioner-that conditioner is fantastic for conditioning hair under a heating cap, which I do if I can't get into a steam room. With the Kerasilk, your hair will not curl up. My hair gets so soft that it doesn't curl up, so I have to use another conditioner. The other is very expensive but you get a lot for your money. It's called Hair Mayonnaise. It is a growth enhancer. It's an organic company. It comes in a big tube. I's a really good deep conditioner. Then, when I want my best hair I'll use Denman D-4 brush or the salon industrial heavy brush. I am an advocate of Denman brushes. It is a rubber brush. The older it gets the better because it has gotten softer. I also use the Cherry Almond Burnt Conditioner by Aveda. I mix with a little of the Deep Penetrating Conditioning from Aveda for the smell. And, I seperate my hair into six sections in order to brush it out. So, I don't break my hair. And you start from the bottom. The way your mom taught you. I do this in the shower. I put more conditioner in my hair, shake my hair so my curls can find each other, and take my hair up with a big clip. Leave it in for a while, then, I turn off all the hot water and turn up the cold water. Put the cold water on low pressure because the high pressure will break up all the curls that just found each other. The low pressure cold water keeps it shiny and keeps the curl.
Q: What is the best hair care advise you've ever been given that you could share with our readrs?
A:Condition, Condition, and Condition! And stay away from alcohol-based products. It just dries your hair out."

If you find old pictures of her like when girlfriends first came out, then those are of her natural hair. About a year or two ago, she texturized, I saw it in a article somewhere dont remember the exact one. She had cute wash n go looks but it had a lot more bulk and kink to it. It reminded me of Kimore Lee Simmons' older girl Ming if anybody watches Kimora's show.

I don't know if it's her natural texture (i.e. wash n' go), but I think you'd have better chances doing a braidout and getting this look rather than a twistout...unless you're doing a flat twist-out.

Ooh, pretty. I would definitely think that's a braid-out, or she's silkened/texturized, as that's definitely a much 'softer' curl than I remember her having last time I saw a pic.....
*nod* I can see a braidout, on damp hair, with a light 'hold' of some sort (setting lotion, maybe? a really light one) ending up like that.....

The product Tracy is referring to is call "Mixed Chicks" not mixed girls I believe. It's at MixedChicks.net...don't forget dot net part.... dot com will take you where you probably don't want to go.
Now having said that, here is my review of the product
My daughter (28) hair comes out just like Tracy. I guess Tracy is her hair twin without the texturizing??
However for me regardless of how little I use, mine is sticky and coated.

I do remember her saying somewhere that she has a silkener. Regardless, her hair is pretty. I'm gonna try a braidout!
