splits, broken naps, classifying hair as apl, bsl, wl on every woman you see?

What's worse for me...I watch like 4 shows a week and now I find myself saying (these were women I used to think had great hair..keep in mind most are tv characters ):Carrie Hefernan (king of queens) has a short nap area, left side hairline is thinning and in most shows is apl

Bernie Macks tv wife has sl rollersets on most shows.

Sgt Carol Mason, from the First 48 hours, is wearing a bsl weave (I thought this was real for sooooo long) :lachen:

But what's even better than labeling their length, now I find myself looking to see if they have split ends...how full is their hair line, and if their hair is up in a pony, does their nap area look healthy :yep:

Doesn't have to be TV but since joining the board, do you find that you classify women by their hair length when before you thought they had long hair or find yourself looking at their hair for overall health?

Well I definitely notice hair(damaged and healthy alike) a lot more since joining the board. I was out at a little breakfast spot last week and the woman in front of me had what I like to call a "snatchback" pulled into and halfway sticking out of a black rubberband. Oh, it was tragic. She had a nasty attitude to match too.:nono:

Also, I've always been a bit snobbish about what I consider to be long hair but now I'm even worse!:lachen:

LOL, you're like a super sleuth or something.... Hmmm you must have hi def hd tv or something..... lol

I do notice people's hair now in general. You know I used to watch Girlfriend's like crazy just based on the fact alone that I LOVED THEIR HAIR!!! And when Keisha (Monica) joined the show I amost died :pant:. Her hair is gorgeous and full, but I noticed recently the last few inches of her hair seems a little weird. I don't know if the official "Girlfriend's weavologist" got a hold of her and added some tracks for length. It just looks a little weird....

Oh and there's this girl in the commercial for Abreva cold sore medicine that has BEAUTIFUL black hair! It's like slightly curled at the ends, looks like it could be relaxed or flat ironed. It inspired me to take care of my ish!!!:yep:

Yep I do.....I can usually tell what problems they are having now and where their current issues are going to get worse.

It's insane how when I see young girls (15-18) using the heck outta some brown gel, in a tightly brushed back ponytail and the ends are chewed and frayed. :nono:

I'm no pro but I feel so sorry for um...wondering if I shared some advice, would they listen or think 'who is she with her fat self. why don't she loose some weight before trying to give out some advice' :lachen:

Yes, I do notice these things now...I have a friend who visited me this weekend from out of town while she was happy that her hair had made it to 1inch above brastrap...I couldn't help to think she combed jer hair way too much because it was so thin and only 4 strands were BSL...I felt bad afterward because she was so proud...she is on a no heat regiment, but she brushes her hair like its going out of style...I tried to explain lo-mani to her but she wouldn't listen.

Speaking of commercials...I CANT STAND those two girls from the relaxed and natural pantene commercial!!

Why?

Because the one with the Flexi Rod  has gorgeous curls and not a fray in sight...the other one with the straight hair...I could just shoot her.

I'm like, 'could you have a least ONE split so I can feel like you're a real person'!!

I say they are the super models of hair...well, at least I know I can have their hair...unlike the model bodies.

Yeah, you're outta this one FoxieNYC with your super body. You and a few others aren't real either. :lachen:

:lachen::lachen::lachen:
Girrrrrrrrl, I'm sitting here right now munching on a bag of seasoned croutons.... lol And I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, lol.:ohwell::nono:

ETA: ooooh I love the Pantene Commercials! The one with the girl coming down the stairs with that amazing hair - the black girl! They have one with a white model, but they made a second one for the black market, same exact concept... :spinning: That's what I want too!

Wish I could be there behind her to push her down the stairs... :whip: I mean uuuuuuh.... I love her hair, lol.

lol..you actually thought that was real..

But yes I do lil things about hair now in general, mostly the health of the hair.

I swear, those girls from the Pantene commercials are from another planet. Perfect strands of hair!

Girl everyone got whit me on that one. I was like, "man her hair is so pretty and she keeps her wrap so neat. I love the way she maintains the same length." :lachen:

I am naive when it comes to some things...my grandmother used to call me 'green.' You know you're not up when you 'grandmother' calls you green.

lol..you actually thought that was real..

I love those girls from the pantene commercials, especially the one with straight long hair.

Ever since i started taking care of my hair, i did start to notice women's hair on tv and real life as well. I'd be like: she needs a trim, she needs a deep conditioner, she needs henna because her hair is see-through, etc... my favorite tv character's hair is Lil JJ's mom from Just Jordan. I also love Bernie Mac's niece's hair as well. Gorgeous! :lick:

Dang, all I can say is yep! I'm like, "ooo her hair is pretty" and, "ooo, her hair has got to be a weave", and "ooo, all she needs to do is DC", the list goes on.

I don't blame most of the women on tv for having weaves; all the curling and heat and manipulation would be way too much for their real hair. I believe Sanaa Lathan addressed that in the issue of Essence where she, Nia Long and Gabrielle Union are on the cover.

LOL I eat seasoned croutons all the time! They have more flavor than chips. Plus I always fake like I'm gonna make a salad so I buy them...week later all the lettuce and veggies are dead and I ate all the damn croutons while watching The First 48.

:lachen:

Yeah, actually I don't pay a whole lot of attention. I can't tell fake hair from real. I don't even know all the names and parts and types and stuff y'all be talking about. I'm the same with makeup. Always be like "and she had on the black pencil thing they draw circles around their eyes with, you know that stuff". :nono:

I'm really getting obsessed; I take the train to work each day, and I find myself analyzing the hair of the other commuters...:look:

Finally! Someone like me! :yep: My mom doesn't wear makeup and doesn't know much about hair care...so here I am. I am working on the hair thing, but makeup still eludes me. :perplexed I gave up. Seems to make my face itch and I'm so used to not wearing it that I end up rubbing it off with my shirt or touching my face cause it feels like something is on it. :lachen: I'm a mess.

Oh, and I can't tell someone's hair is a weave unless it is extremely obvious. I just don't know the tell tale signs.
