I'm out...took my braids out and can't take it...and don't want to get it rebraided so I made an appoinment to get it relaxed tomorrow...I'll post before and after pics later...

Good luck to the rest of you, sorry I punked out :ohwell:...

I am having a time nailing down a routine. I've been taking showers at night, using Curls no-poo, and applying leave-in and sticking a plastic cap on my head overnight. But I feel like my ends are soo dry. So last night, i put castor oil on my whole head and a plastic cap on top. I'm planning on trying the CW method in the Curly Girl book. My first goal is to keep it moisturized. Any other thoughts? How is everyone else doing?

Im comming along nicely. I plan on clarifying with baking soda tonight to see how I like that. Today is my once a month "wash with shampoo" day.

That's okay! Have you thought about Texlaxing? My hair is Texturized but it is still in a Twa, but not natural!!!!

Good Luck To You!!

I have been working and working on my moisture problem. I think it's finally solved...I DC two times a week now. And my hair is really doing well with this. At first, my hair couldn't hold onto any moisture and I thought I had a porosity problem. But I really think my hair was just dying for a DC, hadn't done it for a couple of months. Also made an aloe vera/glycerin spray last night, tested it on my hair, and it worked well. So for right now, I think the moisture situation is under control.

So I shampooed, DC'd and CW'd, using the Curly Girl routine. Liked the results .I think I will do the CG routine daily and Shampoo and DC once a week, up mu water intake, and see if I can gain more moisture.

As for me, I'm doing nothing special but watching my new growth come in and pulling on a strand or two and watch it go BOIIINGGGG!! LOL:lachen::lachen::lachen:
I'm thinking I may put some braids up in my hair sometime this weekend so I can stop meddling with my new growth. Just feels kinda weird when normally anyone feels like an inch or 2 worth of growth they'd slap on the hot creamy crack LOL. I orginally was going to chop the remaining chemical off my ends the last week of last month or beginning of this month. I'm just so undecided, so I thought I'd just set up for my Final BC on my birthday in June and then I'll be completely natural, IF I can last that long LOL

I've also being using my MN mix and I've gotten some good growth from that also, to make it enough to grab into some braids. I couldn't put braids in after my last BC due to having a texturizer and some short strands all over of 1/2 to 1inch short.

I don't have a set regimen yet, I'm still figuring out lots of things that my hair does and doesn't like, so for now currently I co-wash 3-4x a week and I apply my MN mixture as well. I DC 1-2x a week also. Other than that, I'm still experimenting until I put them up in braids.

Miz Jackson - what is the curly girl routine? Thanks!!

Hi everybody, I finally figured out how to post pictures in my message so I wanted to post my starting picture so people don't need to go to Fotki. Okay, here's my baby Afro...

I'm in! I bc'd the end of Feb and stopped cutting it in April. I have about five inches now so hopefully in six months i will see some more healthy growth.
That's what my goal is to keep it healthy and just grow to get it in a pony puff!

How short does my hair have to be to qualify as a twa?

I started transitioning last april. I trimed my ends a little at a time by nov 07 I noticed I was all natural. My hair is about 5 inches. so am I short enough to be a twa? when my hair srinks it appeares to be about 2 inches long. when i stretch it out it reaches just a little past my neck in the back

and just past the tip of my nose in the front

so if I qualify as a twa
count me in!

I'm in!!!! I BC'd on February 1, and I'm ready to grow. What are the "terms" of this challenge?? If you can't tell I'm a newbie, but I'm rearing to go

It's nice to have more people join this challenge. Sometimes it gets a little lonely with the twa's. Even though there are no strict terms of this challenge I think we can all agree that our number one goal at this stage is moisture, moisture, moisture. and establishing a good routine. I was wearing braids but I can never keep them in for too long, so they are out. I really want to try a short wig (inspired by Rihanna) so I may buy one this week. For now I've got my hair in small braids underneath a scarf tied in a bun (this is my most stylish fall-back when i don't have braids or wear a wig.) I will probably post pics of my scarf bun later.

Anyway, welcome to the challenge!

Hi everyone!! So happy to see this thread active! I'm still here growing away... I can actually grab some hair, I can't wait to be able to do twists. I already have my lock and twist gel ready to go.

I've been wearing my TWA under lace fronts that I just bobby pin on. I just started my daily co-wash routine, it's so easy to do with the TWA so I figured might as well take advantage. I used:

This morning and did an oil rinse...the I put some shea butter on to seal...my hair is sooo soft. I love that Suave!! My hair is really growing...I"m doing a protein shake every morning, that seems to be helping and I am going to start the Silica challenge as soon as my order comes in.

I need a flat twist tutorial...

I hope I'm not too late! I BC'ed on 12/11/07. I'd like to join in, too.
I'm not the boss of this thread but if you are like me (I BC'ed 12/20/2007) we are going to require more than 6 months to get to where I'd like to be!! LOL We may have to extend this one for a while.

What critera will we have to meet to offically graduate from the TWA club? My critrea is when I can do nice looking twists...

What indicates that we have moved beyond the TWA....I would like to know what our challenge member's think. :yep:

This is so true.

yay for you

i think when you can pull it into a ponypuff with ease you are out of the twa stage. you know what i mean?
like all your hair can fit into a ponypuff with out serious manipulatin and akward positions and tons of gel to get it most of it into a pony puff.

ill join. i hope i can get out of this twa perioud soon!I cant even do decent pigtail puffs. they look awful and hair is sticking out all which ways:sad:
