Ladies, I have just been informed that this user on BHM (Black Hair Media) did this to my pictures.

Not only did she use my pictures.

She made up how long I've been on LHCF and.........:nono:

She made up my hair regimen!

Very unfortunate. What tripped me out was the fact that they were going back and forth on whether or not it was a big deal or not.
 
I am sure it was just a misunderstanding. I am sure she was excited by your growth and what she thought was your regimen and wanted to share with others. This is the internet and unfortunately things like this happen when you decide to share. If it was face pics I would be more upset but these are backshots of growth.

ETA: I didn't really read all the stuff so if i'm wrong then i'm wrong

I Know Right! Since When have Stealing and Copyright never been a big deal.

If that's the case then I could go get that Big Fat Rock I seen down at Tiffany's Jewelers. LOL!:lachen:
 
I agree that you really have no control once you post pics on the internet. You could get mad all day long but there isn't much you can do and its too hard to police the situation.

HOWEVER, I didn't like how she didn't really post ACCURATE information about her growth and regimen. That is misleading to other women and cause people to stalk her fotki and start questioning her w/o getting proper facts.

If you gonna copy pics solely for admiration and showing it off to other members then you need to make sure you have an ACCURATE account of their regimen. That BHM gal didn't and folks were already bickering back and forth about the truthfulness of her pics and the dates and what not.
 
It wasn't the fact that she took my picture!

She mislead other thread readers by making up how long I've been growing my hair.

And she falsely posted information on my hair care regimen.

I see and yes I can see now why that would be bothersome. Sorry that she did that and in that case she needs to be corrected STAT
 
One young lady asked her this:

"Did you get this woman's permission before you posted her photos on here?"

At least someone on BHM is concerned more about privacy than your growth rate. I know she is excited for you but its still sort of a breach, you know. :badgirl:

That's alway been my internet apprehension but these days what can you do, at least she didn't exploit you in the worst way.

Wow, I can't believe this is happening to you. I always knew it was possible but I've never actually witness it happen until now. I'm sorry that lady STOLE your pictures. SMDH. She is wrong as two left shoes!
 
I think there was just no need to have an attitude about the fact that those weren't her pictures - she should have just said they weren't and that she couldn't answer questions about someone's regimen when she didn't get permission in the first place....I mean it's all a little weird :perplexed
 
So sorry this happened to you, admiration is one thing, but to make up someone's regimen is quite another:nono:. Her attitude is a little flippant as well. Thank goodness they were just backshots.
 
I think that people shouldn't be jacking pics like that. How does she know that you want your pics on that board. I think it would be different if you were an active member over there.

She actually didn't state the pics were hers. She posted chavas pics but wasn't 100% on info she gave. She should have gotten permission,no doubt.

IMO, I think she was just tryna help her hair sisters out!She went about it the wrong way though...

ITA...I don't believe she meant to do any harm...she shouldv'e asked to use the pics...but other than that she seems really excited about ur progress.
 
Well, the forum is pretty public. Anytime we share pictures like we do here, there is a chance it will be on another site.

She could have gotten the facts straight, though. :ohwell:
 
ChavasCandy, you're right. Nobody should steal your pics withput asking you. It's simply wrong. What I really didn't appreciate is that many girls on that forum seemed to have an attitude towards Chavas about the pics that were stole from her. It was ridiculous. They all need attitude adjustments.

Thats true too...they didn't need to have an attitude...it just seems like some of them could careless. But I don't think that girl meant any harm....BUT SHE REALLY SHOULD'VE GOTTEN PERMISSION, regardless of whether you locked your hair album or not. Even when we sign up to use the boards it states that we should have permission to use a pic thats not ours or just don't use it at all if it doesn't belong to us.
 
See. This is just another reason why people don't want to post their pictures (yes, even a back shot too).
 
Welp-OP you are certainly entitled to your feelings. Although it was meant to be complimentary, it would have been better if she'd gotten your permission or maybe just posted the link rather than taking the photos and posting them up. Now we are all aware that right click, save as and upload can be dangerous in the wrong hands. I will post rear shots accordingly. From reading your original post, it would sound like the young lady used your pics to pretend as if they were her own.

Now I see that she was just making a thread to encourage others and give you compliments. Should she have gotten her facts straight? YES! Is it that serious to where you have to threaten to to involve legal actions? NO.

The "Hair Care Tips and Product Review Discussion" is accessible to all, so that's the risk that one takes when posting pictures on a very public message board.

Take care, and yes, in the end, everyone should still be aware of what could happen to pictures.
