What do you use to clarify your hair naturally?

I think I may need to do this, but I don't know what works best. I'd prefer to use natural ingredients. TIA

I've never clarified my hair. But I'd like to know why do some ladies do this? and how do you know if you need to?

I think it's done to remove buildup.
I'm not sure this is what I have, but I've tried everything else to not have dry hair when I wash...esp. No matter what I use, my hair is stuck together. I have to use leave-ins after I step out of the shower. :ohwell:
I have to be so gentle with my hair more than ever now.

I clarify to remove buildup was my hair feels gunky or begins to look dull.I used to use baking soda dissolved in warm water. Now I use sauve's clarifying poo which seems to work better for me.It doesn't make my hair feel as "stripped" as the baking soda mix.

I have the Suave clarifying shampoo as well as the Nexxus Aloe Rid. I prefer baking soda mixed with my regular moisturizing shampoo. The trick to keep the hair from feeling stripped is to use a very small amount of baking soda. I usually mix it in my palm of my hand with the shampoo. This works very well for me. :yep:

Next time, I will see how it works with 1 TBS of baking soda dissolved well in 1 to 2 cups of very warm water and use that in my hair. That is mentioned in a recent thread about washing with just baking soda. I may have to do an ACV rinse afterwards to restore my pH though... :scratchch

"Gunky", that's the word and "dull" describes it perfectly. :yep:
I will try this and see what happens.
Thank you for your imput. :yep:

Hello, I am a newbie to this site and I was wondering is it safe to clarify once a week, or is that too much?

ORS NEUTRALISING POO OR CREAMY ALOE POO- it has chelating agent to bind calcium, chlorine etc. It does not strip at all.

Personally think its too much, i recommend you do it at start of journey.
then once a month and see. If you think you need to more often than once a month, then do it.
I have to do anything from once in 3 wks to once a month.

A friend of mine uses a mixture of ACV & baking soda. I'll have to get the details from her when I see her. I use IC Fantasia's Tea Shampoo. It smells heavenly and it works like a charm.

Thank you all so much for replying.
I appreciate it, and will keep it under my belt. :yep:
I will report back soon if anyone might be interested in knowning my results.

Thanks for all of your help!
You guys, this really did the trick. I used the Suave here: Daily Clarifying.

I could not believe it. I was a little nervous at first because I had strands coming out before and I wasn't sure if I should wash so soon, but I noticed a difference right after I rinsed. :yep: Hair did not feel stripped at all.
I felt liberated like I had a new head of hair. My scalp felt great too and I can comb it the way I used to. :yahoo:
Again, thanks so very much. Excited would be putting it mildly.
I hope this helps the newbies too.

Thanx for confirming what I thought as well (bolded)!

I will be doing this tonite!
I am EXCITED about this!
I want to get rid of as many toxins & unnecessaries as I can!

I cowash only, and I clarify once a month (usually right before my henna treatment) with about 2 tsp. of baking soda mixed with enough water to make a paste, mixed in with my conditioner.

I'm so heavy handed. I probably don't need that much.
