Clarify after perm or henna??

This may be a silly question, but oh well, here it goes.. :-)

Do you still need to clarify after you perm or use henna??

Or are those processes natural clarifiers anyway?

I always do after henna only because my moisturizing shampoos don't seem to rinse it out, as well.

Sometimes I do after relaxing depending on how dirty my hair was before the process. But my Profectiv neutralizing mousse is pretty cleansing, though.

But, I have hard water and my chelating clarifying shampoo is a necessary process for me anyway.

I CLARIFY AFTER HENNA (ADVICE OF NAPPYWOMaN)

Relaxer leftovers. :barf: I always clarify to remove relaxer residue (no matter what). IMO any thing you put over relaxer residue will be crippled by it.

I relax then wait a 2 days and clarify. I usually henna later in the week.

I've never heard of using a clarifying poo right after a relaxer. A neutralizing poo and a balanced protein/moisturizing poo. I would think a clarifying poo would strip the hair after a relaxer even more since it is used to remove product build up. I never henna, so don't know about that one.

I would suspect this would happen as well!

I clarify the wash after a relaxer as well.
I do the same. With the relaxer I use, even with the neutralizing poo, I still faintly smell the relaxer. I use the clarifying shampoo to remain on the safe side.

Nice av by the way :D

Thanks. I LUV me some Robin Thicke!

I clarify the wash DURING the relaxer process after I neutr.

All that vaseline (scalp base) and oil and junk on my scalp, there is no way that stuff is coming out with a regular shampoo.

Plus I want to make sure I get ALL traces of relaxer out and I want my deep conditioner to penetrate to it's fullest ability. When I relax, I consider it "starting from fresh."

As for henna, I don't do it at all so I can't comment on that.

^^^ I was just about to bump this thread to see if anyone did this! I thought I was the only one who clarified right after neutralizing. So I did a search and found this thread and you do EXACTLY what I do and for the same reasons. Glad to know I'm not the only one. :yep:

I think it's always best for me to do that. It just doesn't sit right with me if I don't clarify after neutralizing. I use profectiv mousse (which I LOVE ) but I need something stronger to get the crap outta my hair.

I only hennaed once and I didn't clarify after rinsing it out. The henna was already drying my hair and I had clarified before applying the henna so I just used CON to get the moisture back.
