Growth Aides is cheating.

cheating would imply some type of game, competition, or regulations to hair growing

since its my head, I can do whatever I want with it. No one can really say anything on that. What you do with your hair doesn't really affect others. The only time it is a problem is when you use BT and then say baggying caused your hair to grow....thats just misleading

I dont think so. I wish there was a way I could cheat, shoot. Im on my first MN challenge so I'll see if it improves my hair length at all.

Nope.

I don't think it is cheating because a "growth aid" is ANYTHING you may use to AID in the GROWTH of hair. That can even be a simple shampoo and conditioner!!!!

why read more into the question. Someone asked me, so I decided to ask y'all. Nothing more, nothing less.

I also have use growth aides at one time. I sometime forget how anal Some of y'all can be about simple questions.

I don't think anyone is being anal at all. Just giving their honest opinion, even if it is brutally honest. I had this happen to me a couple months back in a thread, and so I had to get over it and deal with it too. I know you probably meant no harm, but that's just how it goes sometimes...

Girl, No!!! Actually what we are doing is claiming our rights to have naturally long hair like our Asian, Latin and Causcasian sisters; that we are long overdue. Who knew that Black women could grow hair down to our waists? I sure as heck didn't. I didn't know that I didn't have to be mixed with indian or Spanish or white blood to have long hair. People have been telling me that the reason that my hair is long is because I may be mixed with a some Indian. I used to believe that. Now i see that with a proper care regimen our hair can grow. Using growth aides isn't cheating it's using good sense. Besides the best growth aides are washing and conditioning your hair, moisturizing and proper diet, exercise and plenty of water:yep:

I used to think the same :nono:.

But since LHCF, I believe we can achieve whatever we seek as along as we add a large dose of Patience to the (growth aid, including deep conditioners) mix .

Because of the lifestyles we lead and the type of diets we have our bodies sometimes dont have enough of the proper nutrients it needs.

For example when people start taking certain supplements that are naturally occuring in their body but they are deficient of they reap the benefits not only in their hair but in their entire bodies. :yep:

Aiding in your growth is typically trying to mimic something that your body is naturally supposed to produce but lacks for a number of reasons. The benefits you receive from these products are because of the introduction of said product to your system or your hair that you may have previously lacked.

The people who take MSM noticed a difference in their joints as well as their hair. People who take B5 noticed a difference in their skin and their hair. They are providing the supplements that your body lacks for one reason or another.

Topical treatments have properties that mimic the natural occurance of the hair to create an optimum environment for growth. The adding of jojoba oil which is similar to the oils our scalp naturally produces is needed for those who's scalps do not produce enough. Sulfur has been known, when applied topically to have similar results as when taking internally. Alot of the topical products out there are only creating an optimum environment for growth. If you eat right and exercise and establish a healthy hair regime you would also be creating an optimum environment for growth.

These products can only work as much as the care that is taken to facilitate the progress gained. If you exercise every day but eat poorly, it will counteract any potential benefit you hope to recieve. Supplementing what you lack and maintaining a routine to faciliate the benefits gained is the best approach for any type of growth or any aspect of life for that matter. :yep: God bless you all.

Girl don' went and got all educational on us.....using all those big words and stuff.....I love it....:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

Oh, that's not what I meant at all. It's just easy to get caught up in getting x inches of ng & then forget about or slack on doing the proper things to retain it (protective styling, d/cing, etc). I don't really see anything wrong with growth aids if the person does the right things to retain the growth, too. :)

True indeed.
I'm sorry, my response wasn't an attack at all. I saw your post and was simply responding to it.

Why do people give low ratings on a thread they were afraid to post themselves. I know this is a question alot of people have been wondering, because there are people that dont believe in topical growth aid and some people that do. I do not think its cheating its just making your scalp a better enviroment for proper growth. If nothing was wrong with your scalp to begin with your probably better off K.I.S.S.

If growth aids were effective enough give an "unfair" advantage, pretty much everybody would using them and have hair swangin' all down their backs. IMO, growth aids aren't consistent enough to bring about any substantial comparative advantage.

This I totally agree with!

I don't think its cheating at all, for some people its really is the only way to get their hair to the next level. doing everything right and hair stays the same length then add some magic doo and whoop there it is finally some hair. I think its a great thing if it works for you. I am not consistently into putting stuff in my hair(growth aids) but I shower every day so its easy for me to condition wash because my conditioner is right there for me to grab. I run after the stuff but never use it - no time and dont' want to be bothered with it. so I just let my hair grow as it does for me at this point its not a problem but a year and 6 months ago I needed something to help me see that it is growing longer and I was glad that MTG was out there. I haven't used MTG since I started here in 2005 but it works for others and I am glad for it and anything that will help others achieved their goals.

Cheating yourself. Not cheating like a game.

I see what you mean.....like someone who lost 100pounds excercising versus someone who got lipo, would the person who got lipo consider themselves a "cheater"

I dont think its considered cheating because like 99% of the work in growing your hair long imo is keeping the hair on your head, growth aids dont work good enough imo to be considered cheating.

If a growthaid gave 3" every month and only a few people knew about it, and everyone else was working hard and getting 1/2 inch a month, and the people who used it came on LHCF frontin and braggin i might consider them cheaters.

But also hair is personal and its more like a beauty thing to me--like clearing up acne on your skin, so you cant cheat at making yourself more beautifull.

Who is it cheating? Growing hair isn't like a contest where one can cheat another. We are only competing against ourselves and our past hair lengths.

I can kinda see how some people may think of growth aides as cheating. Ok, say you have shoulder length hair, never got past it for years. Use a growth aide and within a year you are BSL. You see folks you haven't seen all year and they "Ohh and Ahh" asking you what you have done. You tell them about all your healthy hair methods and growth aides. They smirk, "I knew you couldn't grow all that hair on your own." They would gloss over all the other stuff you have been doing like CW, DC, etc and focus on the growth aide.

So, I can see how some people may want to grow their hair using traditional methods. That way you can say this is all because of me, no extras. I didn't need extra help (i.e. cheat).

Disclaimer: This is just for discussion. As long as the hair is growing out of your head, you can do as you please for all I care.

They're not cheating per se, but I do think some people think growth aids are a way around having a solid consistent reggie, and it just does not work that way at all. :nono:
ITA. I tell people I use BT but at the end of the day I can't neglect my hair and think all is right. I still got to do the same amount of work other ladies do.

Who knows maybe it's not really or only the growth aids that are helping.

Nothing wrong with people doing what they got to do.

If people believe that's cheating, then those who are here who can grow their hair long due to genetics are they cheaters too?

I know I've had issues with some who come on the site with long hair talking about their issues.... But I've learned to just let it go and realize that it's not only about growing but Maintaining, Sustaining and Improving......

HHG

This is not a test and anything that gives me hope and/or actually helps me get my goal is good to me.

MN and BT gave me hope and growth when my hair looked HAM...it needs some work but in July...babyyyyyyyyyyyy it was sad state of affairs:ohwell:
