What's your take on conditioning overnight?

I only do it because I am lazy. I don't feel it is essential. I only let moisturizing conditioners sit on my hair all night, never anything with protein in it, not even light protien. Because my hair is natural, I always put my hair in 6 braids and put the plastic cap on. I don't want the moisture to make my hair coil around itself and create tangles and one strand knots. I don't have to do this if I leave it on for 30 mintues (even though I do it when I gp under the dryer for DC) but I do if I will sleep with DC in all night.

I prepooed overnight w/ Le Kair Shea Butter Cholesterol Creme and olive oil.I washed and conditioned my hair the next morning w/ CON and my hair turned out so soft and manageable.I will be trying this again real sooon:grin:.

After finding Ojon Restorative Treatment, I have cut my conditioning time down significantly.
I voted 'yes' because I use Ojon overnight, and then just wash and cond with Aveda DR...

I do all the time but usually because I fall asleep doing it. it's worked great to help restore moisture to my hair.

The first couple of times i condition overnight my hair loved it:grin:....but the last time i did my hair was way too soft and mushy did not like it at all:nono:. I guess i over moisturized so never done it again since then. I think this is really good to do if u have super dry hair.

I did it last night and WOW. My hair feels amazing! I used ORS Olive oils replenishing pak... It smells great and my hair LOVES it.

I use to do this all of the time, but haven't in a while. So, the other day i did a overnight with Pro-V Restoratives Mask. My hair was in pure heaven. My hair was really soft and shiny. Y'all my coils were popping. I think I'll be doing this every week especially with the winter coming.

I only do this every now and then. I don't even have a set routine as far as how often, just when I feel like it.

I've done this for years, 5-6 days a week and had no problems.

I did it relaxed, texlaxed, and natural with no ill effects. :look:

Perhaps it depends on the conditioner? I co-wash daily and if I don't use a leave-in I just put in another conditioner as a leave in and sleep in it. Never had a split straight or curly. I still don't.

As a natural I could do it with no problem. Relaxed I only do it with oils or a conditioner that is formulated to stay on overnight.

I'm guilty of doing this. After I do a co-wash, I'd do a DC afterwards, and sometimes after sitting under the dryer I'll get sleepy and go to bed, wake up and wash it out. Been just fine for me, I get good moisturized and soft hair from this process. Mind you, I don't do this very often, only when I feel like being lazy.

I overnight condition/prepoo with a mix of coconut oil and con if my hair is feeling extra dry. If it's feeling normal I just use coconut oil overnight and my hair loves it. This has become a staple of my routine.

Will your hair still be mushy and snap if you use a light protein? I have been doing it for 24 hours switching off a moisture and protein. Am I headed for destruction?

The main reason why I am pro conditioning overnight is because it helps me take the proper time to do my hair without rushing- it takes a huge chunk of my day if I really want to give my hair the red carpet treatment.:yep:

I have been doing this for years with ORS replenishing packs, Hair Mayo, and Cholesterol. No mushy hair for me!

I've conditioned my hair overnight plenty of times with no problems, my hair needs all the moisture it can get.:yep:

My first time using henna left my hair really hard and dry and leaving the conditioner on my hair overnight was the only thing that helped to soften it really well. I was so excited about this new revelation for my hair that I know that I will keep it up.

Does anyone think it'll have the same effect of using a hair steamer with all the moisture being trapped in, having nowhere else to go?

I used to do it in the past because my hair was so dry. I wouldn't think of doing it now because I cowash every day.
My hair retains enough moisture.

For me it is totally beneficial. I love it and my hair loves it too. I deep condition every week overnight and put leave-in conditioner on my scalp every other day.

This is really the only way that I Deep Con., it saves me so much time, I hate sitting under a dryer.

I voted YAY in this poll a long time ago, but now my vote has changed to NAY!!

Overconditioning made my hair limp and mushy, but I didn't know the difference back then. Now that I've upped my protein my hair is so much less tangled!

I condition over-night every week. On Fridays I condition over-night with Ojon Restorative Treatment. On Saturday-nights I co-wash, deep condition with a mild protein for 30 minutes (with heat) rinse and then deep condition over-night with moisturizing conditioner. On Sunday I rinse and rollerset! This works great for me! Sometimes I omit the 30 minute protein deep treat on Saturday nights!

***I LOVE conditioners...if you couldn't tell!!!****:drunk::drunk::drunk:
