What's your take on conditioning overnight?

My answer is YAY...that's how I've been baggying overnight :yep: I use the concentrated honey and almond conditioner mixed with some castor oil, apply it to every strand on my head, put on the baggy then rinse it out in the morning when I wake up! As long as I don't see any significant breakage and as long as it doesn't stay cold for a very long time I'll continue to do it.

Never done it and never will. I'm afraid that my hair will be over-conditioned and start breaking.

this is how i deep conditon 90% of the time

Same here, I choose conditioners depending on my hairs need at the time. One of the best ones that I found for this (for me) was TIGI Dumb Blonde Reconstructor (for strength) or my tried and true DDTA (for moisture).

ETA: I NEVER use a plastic cap as it makes my hair S-O-G-G-Y and it's noisy. I just wrap my hair in a satin/silk scarf and sleep with a towel on the pillow.

Thanks Santia!! I'm waiting to get some of them back today from Kodak. We used digital and regular 35mm and had about 4 people taking photos so we're still trying to gather them all!

I actually do this alllll the time - I'm lazy, and I don't own any heat producing devices, so - I slap in my conditioner (usually a cheapie, mixed with honey, and some Humectress directly on my ends), put on a shower cap, and tie it down with my doorag, and roll on.
This past weekend, I actually left it in for 36 horus (I was on the go, and knew I wouldn't have time to do my hair once I rinsed it out) and I was SHOCKED by how soft and moisturized my hair was. I know it's the winter, so my hair (which is moisture hungry anyhow) really needs extra juice - but I didn't expect to see such a difference.
I was very pleased, and didn't see any negative results...

I voted yay. I did it once after taking out my braids. Otherwise, I would have had major breakage.

I guess I'm the weirdo. I've left deep conditioner on my hair over night due to laziness. When I rinse, it feels as if I didn't use a conditioner, like my hair soaked it all up.

I find that my hair thrives best with a 10 to 15 minute condition. Soaking overnight just leaves my hair feeling mushy.

Chayil

I did this and it was fine the first time, but the second time gave too much moisture. So I don't use a conditioner anymore but I use olive oil overnight. This way my hair gets an oil treatment but then gets sufficient moisture from the natural condensation generated by my body.
I do this once a week, the night before I shampoo.

Water consist of making hair weak think about after u leave CONDITIONER overnight tha too much moisture unless u have major dryness.my hair break in a insant.

same here.. my hair doesn't like being too soft!

I condition overnight after using henna to combat the dryness with great results. Other than that I find baggying at night is better to retain moisture for my hair.

Love to do this with my dominican conditioners only. for some reason my other conditioners (pantene, tcb, whatever) make my hair too soft!

Works well for me. I use my conditioner mix, apply to dry hair, braid into sections; wear two plastic conditioning caps and a scarp. Due to laziness I sometimes leave it on days at a time due to laziness. No breakage or mushiness at all!:)

i pre-poo over night once a week with a cholesterol/protein mixture PLUS i condition after every shampoo and deep condition with heat and use a leave-in after that! i live in a very dry area and i probably wouldn't do all of this conditioning if it were more humid here. but since it isn't, i need to stay on top of the moisture and give to my hair what nature isn't.

YAY!

I found that using heat to DC and then keeping the bag on overnight has worked a couple of times. It seems that the heat opens everything up so the conditioner can do its stuff!!!

I say yes...I do this all the time in the summer. I actually have left it in for days before. That was how I used to do my wash and go..shh don't tell nobody:lachen: :bdance:

We had some pretty harsh weather here in NY during the winter months and my hair got extremely dry. I started doing this once a week using either DPR-11 or Pantene Breakage Defense mask. I would always add some EVOO to the mix. Definitely helped bring the moisture back. Now I do it maybe once a month.

I say yes all the way. I love conditioning over night it leaves my hair moist and soft. I usually do it when I can. I use heat with plastic cap first then I leave the cap on, put a satin bonnet on and go to bed. I wake up and rinse out. Love it.

I did this for the first time ever last night, after a henna treatment that left my hair especially hard.

This morning my hair was still pretty hard, and I lost a literal fistful of it during a 1.5 hour detangle from HELL. Clearly it didn't work for me under this circumstance, at least.

I vote yay but I normally pre-poo with an oil 80% of the time if I do it over night.
