What's your take on conditioning overnight?

It depends for me. I think it can be beneficial once in awhile but the one night I did it, when I washed in the morning I felt like my hair was overly elastic. So in my case constant overnight conditioning would be the death of my hair

I've done it a few times out of pure laziness and luckily it was ok. but, I can't consistently do that (I can't even consistently baggie!)

I used to do it, thinking that is what you called a pre-poo. It most certainly is TOO much moisture and i have extremely dry hair. It will only work if you are doing to use a strong protein after like Kpak or Aphrogee. If you are doing a DC with protein... don't do it. Honestly, its really not that beneficial bc more than likely you will run the risk of having too much moisture in your hair. If you want softness w/o doing a strong protein (hmph! Good luck) use Africa's Best Hair Mayo Leave-in. It has silk amino proteins, milk proteins, and egg.

I am doing a back to back cornrow till Christmas challenge and I condition overnight with a Straight Arrow Nail and Hoof Care Moisture (for Humans) between braidings. I like the results. This conditioner is a mix of moisture and protein. bonjour

I hated it for years. My hair seemed to shed more. I would use LeKairs overnight, no luck. Anything I tried overnight I ended up disappointed in the morning.

But................ I revisited this whole overnight thing with ORS Replenishing Conditioner... and my hair felt sooooo GOOD! Not a single strand! Not too soft, or not too dry. It felt juuuuust right! The slip was to die for and I was one satisfied customer. I bought the big bottle instead of the little packs after that experience and it is now a staple. So I vote yes! AND I did it on dry hair.

I voted yay, but I only do it once in a blue moon. I only condition overnight with shikakai oil, not with conditioner. My hair would be much too tangled in the morning. Plus I really don't like sleeping in a crinkly plastic bag, even though I try to tie it down tightly.:perplexed But I must admit the overnight oil conditioning works great!

I do this once or twice a month with a mix of cholesterol and this other random cheapy con. Works absolute miracles on my NG it's made it so I can stretch way longer without damage.

If I've been using my flat iron or blow dryer often, I usuallly do an overnight conditioning treatment. Makes my hair very soft.

I've done it before, back when my hair was like a brillo pad. I condition a few hours max now. The brillo is gone, lol

I have conditioned overnight. The only time my hair didn't come out mushy and overmoisturized is when I used an ORS replenshing pack. For the most part I don't overnight condition it doesn't drastically improve my hair enough for me to continously do it.

I like to condition overnight, usually w/a protein conditioner & an oil mix due to time constraints. Oils alone resulted in more shed hairs. I do not end up w/mushy hair...just soft, conditioned, strong hair.

Yep. w/do if I dont get under the dryer.

Cond. overnight saved my hair while I was on vacation. I *rushing to pack* left my shampoo. I dont shampoo often and walked right out the house w/o it. :( I used hotel shampoo 2nd ingredient SLS and my hair was brittle and snapping . I conditioned over night w/Emergencia... and it was all good the next morning.

I have actually stopped using conditioners overnight. I like using oils (amla, shikakai, brahmi, coconut, jasmine, vatika). I can see an improvement in the condition of my hair now that I do this regularly. I get hardly any shedding now.

i would say yahhh, only because i'm to lazy to do all of my hair the same day, so i can break it up by sometimes, sleepin in the conditioner, thats all

I also do this quite often and have not had a negative side effect yet. I'm still waiting to see that "mushy" hair...my hair just can't seem to get enough moisture!

Yes it works for me! I haven't figured out which works better, oils/butters/protein (ie. ojon restorative, coconut, olive, cholesterol) or moisturizing conditioners (elucence, giovanni direct). My hair definitely reacts differently depending on the type of leave-in. The oils and protein conditioners seem to make my hair feel stronger, while the mosturizing conditions leave it super soft.

I'm doing the baggie challenge, so I do do this every night. I'm gonna try alternating products to see if I can get the best of both!

I've not had any problems I love it. Although if your hair is Fine or thin I would be careful cause it might make your hair limp:confused: it is really good if your hair is kinda dry HTH.
