How Do You Want Your Hair to Look? (A Vision Board)

I'm not sure how to grab multiple posts so I can quote them to say "thank you," but thank you for the kind comments, ladies! Means a LOT. I've "known" you for a long while now, and it feels like a family here to me. It is indispensable, in my opinion, to have a safe place where black women are rooting for one another.

I'm 49. I'm aging. Sometimes I look much older. Sometimes I gain weight and my face is wider. Sometimes I don't get sleep for days, weeks, or a month or so, and I look much older.

My husband says women are so harsh on themselves about all of this. I'm trying to balance the goal to age gracefully and the goal to always still (care to) put my best self forward. I'm trying not to put myself down or let anyone make me feel any kind of way about my face, fine lines, or figure.

Thank you again for the kind, kind comments. I'm carrying them with me, close!!!

I have been to the Her Growing Hands shop a few times. Excellent results. She had opened a second shop (closer to me). I tried going there, meaning, I THOUGHT I had made an appointment there. Turns out I had made an appointment at THE Growing Hands, not HER Growing Hands.

I just went ahead and kept the appointment (reviews were rave reviews).

These are the results. Great job. Zero humidity blockers used. Lol. Maybe it'll last a week in this Texas heat??? The stylist is looooovely and said she'll use a humidity blocker next time.

This photo is from 2023. I don't know if you can tell, but my hair was MUCH denser then (in the photo below), compared to that photo above from the shop.

The lack of density only bothers me when I wear my hair flat ironed. I kinda like the reduced density when I'm wearing my hair curly.

I'm trying not to stress about it and just continue to eat very healthily, exercise, and reduce how often I detangle.

I really like this image--honestly, the hair looks long starting at APL for me, and that's all about the nice blunt ends. I'm so in love with that freshly trimmed look. I wish I could find more info on the timeframe or regimen this person followed, but I just found it on pinterest. Such a nice head of hair!

I once made it to BSL (bra strap length) but never WL. I can't even imagine detangling all of that waistlength curly hair! Let me head on over to a WL thread to see how people get there.

You and your hair are both beautiful! Your hair before the trim looked almost WL, I'd say after the trim MBL. BSL and MBL are sometimes the same position for a lot of ladies, especially if they have a short torso. I can see WL on the horizon for you.

I found some new hair goal inspo. This lady has around hip length heat trained natural hair, and it is so beautiful. I like the simple styles that she does with it and I love that she has attained this while coloring her hair.

She goes in depth about her grow out process in some of her Yt videos, and she did some use of wigs but also wore her hair out quite a bit. She is also NOT one of those ladies who have always had long hair, which, for me, makes a difference.
