Airdry

Why? less to zero damage

Better for your hair? Yes, indeed!

Less manipulation? Yes, once I figured out that I can get my hair pretty straight by just letting it hang loose to dry about 80%, then tie down with scarf.

Looks more "polish"? Not sure if it's more "polished" looking as not my goal, but, boy, it sure is longer, thicker, healthier . . . .

I usually just airdry

But if i am purposely trying to get my hair straight
I airdry, then flatiron

Because:
i dont like to deal with my hair when its wet ( too messy, too lazy, scared of weaker hair while wet and manipulating it)
i've got to be the most unskilled person on the earth, and the flatiron is the only thing i can master
I think its healtheir for my hair because i can retian more moisturie with airdrying, Loose no hair from manipilating, and i use the flatiron on the lowest setting

I wish i could do a blowout though, that would probally be my choice then

I rollerset, flat iron the roots, then saranwrap. Works like a charm! I've been bobbing my hair in the mirror for the past 10 min. just to watch it SWANG!

Change of plans!!!

For the past three weeks I've been rollersetting and then just flat ironing the roots. My sets got a lot better so I don't need all that other stuff. I luv this. It works great for me and is a lot more simple than what I was doing before.

I prefer to airdry on large rollers using the right amount of tension. It looks more polished. (I want to try Macherieamour's saran wrap technique soon.)

I only use the flat iron on the new growth if I didn't roll that area right.

It's too hot to sit under the dryer now, and I only use the blow dryer when I'm too tired or I'm running out of time.

I only rollerset (sit under my dryer). I don't use heat on my hair at all--besides the Pibbs.

For those of you who do blow your roots or flat iron your roots aren't you afraid that you may damage your hair? That's what I am afraid of so I just don't do it. I'd like to blow out my roots (I'm not even thinking of the flat iron right now lol. No, I have sworn off that thing!).

I PREFER Blowdry and Flat Iron

but I KNOW thats not the best thing for me, so I have been trying to co wash and protective style for like 2-3 weeks out the month and airdry and flat iron once a month

Im TRYIN isnt that all that matters?

Right now the rollerset works for me.

I rollerset and then use Aveda pomade OR Sebastian drops to smooth out my hair (NO HEAT). After that I either Bantu or roll again for that curly look.

I prefer the look of a blowout, but its much too damaging to my hair so I usually rollerset when I want to straighten.

i dont own any heat appliances so i dont know how good they work. i cant airdry without rollersetting because it makes my hair doesnt come out that straight plus it leaves my hair VERY dry i lost so much breakage the last time i tried it because of the dryness. rollersetting and airdrying works great for me though. but only when i use lacio lacio or else its frizzy hair.

I air dry in a bun.

Its much better for my hair, it doesn't break nearly as much as it did when I blowdired. It dries straight since I pull it back. It might not always look as "polished" as a flat iron look, but I don't care, because its healthier now.

First, I air dry. Then I blow dry the roots on low heat and speed. Then I roller set the dry hair before going to bed.

Why? healthier than air drying then blow drying then flat ironing, which is what I had been doing.

I wear my hair in a short, layered bob, and it is slightly stacked in the back. So, in order to give the hair some fullness and lift, I roll it up after it has dried. Smoothing out the roots also aids fullness and lift.

Rollerset, then wrap the hair. This always gives me nice straight FULL hair (I like it big). But when I'm far post, I'll rollerset then blow out the roots with a roundbrush.

My thoughts exactly. I can never get my hair straight (without the use of heat) without rollersetting it. Rollersetting gets my hair sleek then wrapping gets it straight.

Why? Blowdry on cool and then flat iron. Alternate with rollersetting.

Better for your hair? It is much better for my hair than airdrying because with airdrying my hair was shedding and breaking like crazy. I only blowdry and flatiron 2x a month if that much.

Less manipulation? It evens itself out because I do not comb my hair for a week.. My hair hardly sheds when blowdried and flat iron.

Looks more "polished"? Looks more polished for my job..

I have to rollerset with heat. Otherwise my ends... ugh it's just not good. They can ruin what would have been a cute hairstyle.

I voted rollerset.

My hair maintains the most body this way, and that's important for me since my hair is so fine. I get the roots blown out, which removes the dent from the roller and also straightens out any new growth that may be waving my roots up. I would say damage is minimal, because there is no direct heat to the length/ends of my hair, and the direct heat to the roots is very fleeting.

HTH. :)

I voted Airdry in a Rollerset.

Why? Because it's healthier for my hair

Better for your hair? Absolutely

Less manipulation? Yes, especially since I wash my hair only once per week and comb my hair only at that time.

Looks more "polished"? Yes; my airdried rollersets give me straight, smooth curls. :yep:

For straight hair I rollerset on grey rollers and do the saran wrap treatment once dry. Once I get 8+ weeks post I airdry and flat iron for a straight look.

I rollerset and then flat iron the roots. I prefer rollersets to airdrying because my hair is much smoother and shinier when it dries. Blowdryers are too damaging. I prefer to flat iron the roots instead of blowing them out because its easier for me to control heat application and exact temperature of the iron. Whereas with the blowdryer, the only temp controls are lo, mid, high. When its hot enough to straighten my roots, its too hot for my scalp. And its difficult for me to keep airflow only on the roots without the hot air blowing anywhere else on my hair.

This is EXACTLY what I do... and has given me the best results!

My hair loves heat! I get no shedding or breakage when I blow dry then flatiron but I know this is not good and I will pay for it in the long run, so I air dry in rollers and flatiron after. If I just air dry I get dryness, shedding & breakage:nono: I'm going to try the saran wrap after a rollerset next wash.

rollerset. If done well you come out with great results and virtually no damage to your hair.

Agreed! The majority of the time I airdry, but I'm really feeling the rollersets right now. I'm getting great conditioning and great curls at the same time!:drunk:

I voted rollerset although I do flat iron my roots when I am at at least week 7 of my relaxer cycle. I also airdry but I dont really like this method as much. Sometimes I will put my wet hair in a banana clip with large roller and a satin scarf under the dryer (like a pony tail set.)

Why? I like the body that rollersets give me. I also like the sleekness of my ends after doing a setting on rollers.

Better for your hair? For my hair, probably rollerset. My hair dries to frizzy with just air drying. Detangling is easier with rollersets because I only comb through very thin sections of my hair at a time. Rollersets seem to lock in moisture in my hair and it dries stronger.

Less manipulation? Rollerset because I do not comb through my hair. I simply apply leave in on wet hair and proceed to rollerset and I only comb through 1 inch sections of hair at a time.

Looks more "polished"? Definitely the rollerset

Why? I wish I could air dry but my hair curls when wet and it takes forever (days) to air dry in a ponytail. If I let it dry hanging down I'd have a mountain of frizzy curls. so I use a hooded dryer or my soft bonnet. I use a blowdryer with a diffuser for a few minutes when I wear wash n go's to help dry faster and curb the frizzies.

Better for your hair? yes because I use less heat then having to flat iron it.

Less manipulation? yess same as above

Looks more "polished"? yess no frizz.

I rollerset and blowdry the roots. I don't relax my hair bone straight, so I have to straighten out the roots a little bit.

ITA. I started airdrying my hair this summer and I'm hooked! I've only been doing it since July and my hair is soo much fuller, stronger, and healthier. I can't wait to see it flourish even more as more time goes by.
