I rollerset, then flat iron the roots. I only do my roots when I'm so far post that I can't get them flat by just wrapping anymore. It's definitely better for my hair!:yep:

I just started doing roller setting, and I love it. I don't have to pick up a curling iron.
I just pin curl my hair my hair and go.

Great Thread. I was wondering how others felt about this too....especially after a relaxer.
I self relax, rollerset and then either flat iron or blow out my roots.

I airdry in a rollerset and a satin scarf to smooth and straighten my hair.

Why? It works! I've airdried in a rollerset since I stopped using heat four years ago.

Better for your hair? Much better for my hair. :yep: I will never go back to using a heating appliance to straighten my hair or using a blowdryer. My hair is a lot more moisturized all of the time. :)

Less manipulation? Definitely less manipulation, especially since I don't comb out my rollerset or hair until the next wash day.

Looks more "polished"?[/quote] Since I now airdry in the style I want my hair to have, I look very polished when I remove my rollers. In the last few years, I would airdry in a rollerset for straightening only and create a different style including a bun. I looked polished then also. :)

airdrying in a ponytail, but i look forward to learning how to rollerset w/ magnetic rollers soon.

My hair loves heat! I get no shedding or breakage when I blow dry then flatiron but I know this is not good and I will pay for it in the long run, so I air dry in rollers and flatiron after. If I just air dry I get dryness, shedding & breakage:nono: I'm going to try the saran wrap after a rollerset next wash.

same here. i tried airdrying for 3 weeks, my hair was shedding like crazy. I airdry in rollers and saran wrap method (or just wrap) afterwards. The more "post" I am, the more I have to do saran wrap instead of just plain wrap.

I actually wanted to vote for airdry and rollerset w/root-only blow out. The time of year and my mood determines which occurs. I haven't used a flat iron in a year now :woot::woot:and I can definitely tell the difference!

I like to airdry my hair in a wet wrap. Unfortunately I don't think it's better for my hair because I have to brush my hair while wet. But it does look more polished.

I voted airdry then iron because it takes less time. I usually rollerset because I think it's better for my hair but that's not my preference. :ohwell:

I meant to vote airdry, but somehow voted other. :perplexed

I airdry with my hair hanging loose, and use carusos to create curls once it's dry. I've been doing this for while, because whenever I blowdry, rollerset, or manipulate my wet hair I get breakage. This way, I get almost no broken hairs. If I thoroughly comb through my hair just before it's dry it looks straight and shiny. If I don't comb it, it dries with waviness/texture (due to texlaxing). My hair hates rollersets and heat.

Airdry (pony tail it-warmer weather) this affords me frequent co-washes, which contributes to a clear complexion. Airdry (rollerset for special occasions and/or as the weather turns cold) less manipulation---set it and forget it.

what i prefer and what i do is two different thngs

i prefer:
blow dry and flat iron

what i do:
air dry in a pony tail

I haven't really flat ironed my hair much since i've started my regimen. Unless i am in a weave my hair is in a ponytail 95% of the time.

In general, I don't wear my hair straight. But when I do, I like to roller set. I use the lowest heat setting on my Conair hard bonnet dryer. Then, I flat iron, but I use the lowest heat setting that I can get away with (around 280 to 330 degrees). I protect my hair with Nexxus Heat Protex and a few drops of olive oil

Rollerset

I rollerset set with or without the hooded dryer, depends on how I feel. It is great for my hair because I don't have to do much to it during the week, I wash twice a week so I just put it back up with rollers with each wash. I don't have to manipulate my hair that much, all I do is finger comb to loosen the curls a bit. My hair feels silky, soft, bouncy, and well moisturized after my rollersets.:yep:

I air dry mostly. But I do blow dry when I'm up to it or feel like going to the salon and getting it blow dried.

I used to rollerset every week, but that got old and I only do it if I want curls.

Wet wrap and then it's under the dryer for about 30-45 mins. It's very straight after that and looks polished.

Rollerset all the way. I've been doing it forever, my hair loves it and I don't need to mess with my hair until I wash it again:love4:.

I prefer to airdry and damp wrap my hair. I have been able to avoid using heat all year on my hair this way and it gets it straight like like I have it in my siggy.

Softresses

rollerset because my hair holds the curl and moiture. Too bad I have not been able to have successful rollersets as of late. :wallbash:

I rollerset and airdry after a shampoo and then just rollerset every night after that or if in a hurry or too tired I wrap but I dont add water or setting lotion. I just use a little of my BB Moisturizing growth lotion and my new found love African Angel coconut oil to seal and then rollerset.

The less I manipulate my hair when wet I think the better and I dont use heat, if i do it is only steam cap heat or a hot towel for deep conditioning or every three months a hair dryer for 20mins when I get a relaxer at my hairdresser.

i blowdry damp hair (with alittle Fantasia heat protector). then the next day i flat iron (with Toni&guy iron-it heat spray).

Why?

Better for your hair?

Less manipulation?

Looks more "polished"?

I blow dry then i flat iron. I do it this way because I don't have patience to airdry, and like my hair be straight everyday. I did try airdrying a couple times and it resulted in lots or breakage. This way I have a lot less breakage and as lot as I replenish the moisture that using heat can rob my hair of, I think that my hair will do fine. I only use heat when I wash and deep condition.
