Revised response: i can't say I've given it up but at the rate my hair is growing with the MN, I may not have to deal with disquising scents, super oily hair and hiding bottles. My hair is growing faster with the MN than the MTG. Who would have thought?

VWVixxen...what does MN stand for?:)

I personally didn't mind the smell in my hair -- I only used a little bit twice a week. But it made my bed linens smell!! I just couldn't remove the scent no matter how I washed them, so I gave up. I just started with BT this week.

I am gonna check other.

As for the smell...It never bothered me, but my roommate always used to say "It's BAAAACONNNNN!" every time I walked by. I love that girl  Everytime I see a Beggin' Strips commercial or give my dogs a treat it makes me think of her.

One thing that did bother me is it's dripping and the stains it left on my sheets, pillow cases.

I still have a half used bottle and a full unopened bottle of MTG, but I have the Boundless Tresses now so there is really no need for it.

I still use it everyday and my hair is super thick. I got used to the smell by mixing other product so it not really bad. And the rash has gotten better.:)

The smell was just too much for me and my husband so after finishing my first bottle (which has been well over a year ago) I never ordered the stuff again.

If BT gets on your sheets or clothes you will have that same smell, I had got some on my shirt by accident and I couldn't get the smell out either.

I plan to continue using it. I am only going to use it in the cooler months because the smell is strong and it less noticable.

I still use it. I'm not bothered by the smell, and I baggy so it doesn't get on my pillowcases. I haven't had any of the other problems. Although I want to try BT one day, the price of MTG fits my budget better for now.

The smell of Mtg has never bothered me...I'm strange I know:lol:. My neck did break out in a rash, but what was weird was...I didn't break out until after I stopped using it. I'm now a BT user........

The smell was not the best but I could deal with it. My husband hated the smell and one night I turned over and he frowned up in his sleep because my hair was in his face. I found this hilarious so I admit to flipping my braids his way one more time.:angeldevi I have since switched to odorless BT.

I found this hilarious so I admit to flipping my braids his way one more time.:angeldevi I have since switched to odorless BT but to avoid wasting my bottle of MTG, I drained the majority of cade oil off of it and replaced the oil with coconut, vit E, tea tree, a carrot oil+tea tree oil store bought mix and a dash of Ginsing Miracle wonder 8 oil. Works fine so I alternate with the BT, not to mention my beloved MN.
:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: I fell out laughing when I read that!- I've only been using MTG daily for a week now, but I haven't had any issues yet. Too early to tell if I'll get the growth, but my scalp has been itching like crazy (which is a good sign for me). The smell doesn't really bother me either.:look:

As soon as this bottle is finish I will not be repurchasing. I'm just tired of using it. I'm getting lazy. I'm getting tired of the oiliness. Mabey I'm just heavy handed. :ohwell:

jus got the MTG today, hoepfully i will get some great results. also im a full grown african with enough unusual smells comin from the kitchen, so this smell shouldnt be a problem. ill update soon:lol:

I've had a love hate relationship with MTG since being on the board. The first time I stopped using it was because I was tired of getting sores on the back of my neck and ears. And my jewelry being tarnished. Fast forward I purchased a big bottle got scared of the label that said not intended for human use. But then I thought hey I used it before, so I mixed some with my half bottle of BT..unfortunately my hair has been breaking really bad. I stopped using the MTG, and I am sad to say that was the culprit.

ETA: I am no longer using growth aides.

Dang girl you took it waaaaayyy yback....lol:lachen:

The smell for me but I made my own sulfur mix. However I am going to sneak my MTG in on the weekends cause it has the pine tar. Which helps hair to grow I remember my mother using that black dax in my head. MTG reminds me of this.

i created a solution that knocked the smell right out, while adding special essentials of their own.

Using a 8 oz applicator bottle (can be found at hair stores):

.50 oz rosemary essential oil
.50 oz lavendar essential oil (this overpowered the smell the most)
.20 oz ylang ylang oil
.20 oz peppermint oil
(shake it up) then add:
.50 oz Jojoba Oil (u can add ur own carrier ie. grapeseed, olive, etc)
filled the rest of the bottle wit MTG...... (the bacon smell is GONE... all i smell is the essential oils.)

from the responses ppl give about the odor.... i think ill take an essential oil smelling head any day!

hope this helps anyone:D

It stinks. It's greasy. It's gross. And during my hair journey I've come to believe there is no such thing as a miracle growth aid. That's just MY opinion. I am more concerned with finding ways to retain length rather than putting all tis crazy stuff on my scalp and hair!

IMO, the point of using MTG or any sulfur treatment on the scalp is to reduce the amount of bacteria on the scalp, thus maintaining a cleaner scalp and promoting hair growth. However, I find it easier (and cheaper) to wash/co-wash my hair every day to reduce the bacteria on the scalp.

I would only use MTG if I could not wash my hair very often. I think this works for people who cannot deal with the amount of manipulation needed to wash hair. But since I don't have that problem, I opt to wash daily. Besides, everything I owned smelled like MTG... I didn't like that too much....

I stopped after almost a month. The smell didn't bother me but I had an allergic reaction to it. My mother still uses it, and it works great for her!

I believed it gave me lots of newgrowth back in early 2006 when I became a member of LHCF. I used it from Nov 2005 until May 06. Just could not use it during the summer. That is when the smell got stronger for me when I went out into the hot sun. So I used it for a whole winter time period and a small part of spring and fell of the bandwagon. (Nov 05 - May 06) Don't think I'll try again. I got paranoid people and my DH could smell the liquid smoke smell!!!!!! (usually others didn't but I could):ohwell:

OK I would like to say I now use it again.
Virgin Coconut Oil and Amla Lite Oil covers the smell perfectly.

It was funky. My hair (especially my nape) came in crunchy and brittle and actually stank too. It was so bad I texlaxed part of it (this was several months ago) and that made it worse.. I wound up cutting that part off.

Hey if it works it works... it made my hair grow but I was not willing to deal with the consequences: funkiness, crunchiness, brittleness, it was like I was growing a smelly used brillo pad out of my scalp:nono:

I havent used MTG in about a year and just got my new bottle today. I didnt get it to use as a grownth aide (though I wont complain if it happens) I remember when I was using it years ago my hair felt more manageable so I want to try it again.
The smell has never bothered me.....possibly because of my fondness of bacon.
As for rashes, I remeber I had one on my face and the mtg cleared it up.
