1.) Biosilk Cure hair serum. Pricy but sooo worth it. Hated it when I was blowdrying, but my hair LOVES it when I rollerset.

2.) Via Natural semi-permanent hair color. Takes really well to my hair, easy to apply, and doesn't appear to be damaging at all.

3.) Not one, but two new moisturizers: First, ORS Hairepair Intense Moisture Creme, for those days when my hair needs a bit of an extra kick. It leaves my hair so soft, and shiny, and moisturized, it's unbelievable. Brought my hair back quickly after a major protein setback. If only it weren't so gosh-darned hard to find!!!

The second one, for my regular hair days, is the Palmer's Olive Oil moisturizer. Similar to the ORS one, but a LOT lighter, and has much "better" ingredients for the same price.

ETA: 4.) MN mixes! My hair growth rate has *really* picked up since I started using it. Another thing that's a bit pricey for me, and *so* embarrassing to buy (imagine walking to the checkout counter with multiple boxes of the stuff), but again, a great investment that I've made this year for my hair.

Co-washing with Argan Oil hydrating masks (thick ones). I've tried 3 brands (proclaim, MoraccanOil and Organix). They're all fabulous for cowashing. They're okay for rinse out conditioning after shampooing. I've been DC'ing with my other staples so I can't speak for them in that sense.

And

Aussie Moist is still an affordable, incredible smelling, multipurpose powerhouse.

Shea Moisture products! I love the shampoo, conditioner, mist, and moisture milk. The only thing I didn't like was the deep conditioners.

GroAut Oil. Its too early to claim growth, but my scalp feels good and I love the smell. Unofficially, I believe it has helped with growth.

Linange Lye Shea Butter Texturizer. Best relaxer I've ever used!

Cornrowing my hair and leaving it alone until wash day.
NO product, and i mean NO PRODUCT ( from kerastase, to alterna, to moroccan oil to the cheapest drugstore products) have done as much as conrows in handling my breakage. I take them down friday night, and start my routine with a nice prepoo; wash saturday morning, roller set and enjoy my hair for the weekend. Monday morning before work i put it in 6 cornrows, and rock my wig for the week.

NIN4eva - I can't take credit for this, I only tried it as an experiment bc a lady started a thread asking if anybody had tried this mix. Boy am I glad to try new things!!!

I mix 2 parts conditioner to 1 part castor oil. It leaves my hair feeling finest buttery soft, and very heavy. It has literally taken 6 months for my hair to feel soft and not dry. The softness lasts 7 days till my next wash and I have been able to skip my midweek co-wash since doing this. I tried applying castor oil on top of my conditioner once recently, instead of mixing it it, and it didn't work so well for me - it left my hair feeling oily to touch and not so heavy. Also not so moisturised or soft. You could try both ways too and see how it works best for you. You should post results in the original thread, everyone needs to be doing this!

That awkward moment when you are trying to get see what was working for everybody else and you see a comment you left darn near a decade ago.

I'm trying to remember where I was living at the time. I am sure I was somewhere with Chicago hard water. I still seal but I do not use castor oil anymore. Keeping my ends trimmed is still the truth. I trim every three months and cut ssks as needed.

What's really been working for me is raw shea butter. I was looking for something to help prevent my ssks and didn't want to go back to grease because I am only cowashing and using acv to clarify--currently using Carol's Daughter cleansing conditioner and the Enhancing Herbal Conditioner from Black Earth. Both work extremely well. I mostly just use water and a little OH Juices and Berries prior to applying the shea butter. My hair stays moisturized for days...so long as I don't wear it loose.

Also, finger detangling. My hair looks a bit thicker, but I suspect that's because I have finally stopped combing the life out of it. When I cowash my hair I just do it in the mirror with a spray water bottle and rinse it out in the shower.
