Whew! I love black hair but I don't think my hair has ever been this black in the 36yrs. of my life. So I henna'ed and followed with indigo last night. The results are amazing. Almost unbelievable. Her directions say the indigo stain will darken over the next two days but I can't even imagine that. By the way she (mehandi.com) is very efficient. So I just wanted to share wth you guys because if some of you remember I called myself staining for at least dark colored hair with just the henna. But ended up with a head full of reddish brown hair. :perplexed

SOOOOO Black is the word! I'm so in love with mi indigoed hair. I did my 2nd  application yesterday! It looks so much more natural than the black permenent dyes I was using. So nice and shiny!;) I did my first one about a wee kor two ago, but when I received my package of herbs from indian-exports, I so too excited to wait.
I've decided to keep a full henna/indigo, henna gloss/indigo, indigo,
full henna/indigo regimen to keep my hair BLACK BLACK & SHINEY!:D I'll do this rotation monthly. I  the combo for my hair! :trampolin

Sounds good...what recipes did you use for your henna and indigo? How long did you leave the indigo on?

Hey Cover Girl! Glad you asked. Pls answer my question below.

Let's see:

To dry hair I applied:

-Henna: Added VO5 conditioner, honey, jojoba oil, and olive oil. Left it on for 1 hour.

Rinsed and washed w/ shampoo

-Indigo: Added water. Left it on for 1 hr. 30min. w/ heat. 30 min. w/o heat. Don't remember shampooing aterwards. I think I just rinsed. Sorry it was late.

DCed w/ cholesterol, reconstructor, olive oil, and coconut water (is this the same as coconut milk?) I expected it to be white but it looked just like water. My mixture was super creamy but it didn't do much for the tangles. But then again I didn't add heat because I was a little worried about messing the color up but I don't think that it would have mattered. So since I was having tangle woes, I decided to use the slippiest conditioner of all time. You got it, Suave. No tangles after that! :D

Once I get some money Im def. gonna try henna... I dont want black hair so I will prolly skip the indigo. But you guys are convincing me!!!! :D

Checkin' in... I love me some jet black hair too. :yep: It'll fade slightly in a couple weeks. :wink2:

i know nada about henna. where do you buy it from and is that the way everyone applies it, like how she described above? i take it its easy on the hair since soooooooooooooooooooo many ladies here use it:D
does it do anything for the hair, like condition? please help because i may try it in the summer

No, It's not the same as coconut milk. You have to buy it in a can that says "coconut milk" and it will be creamy.

i wanna see! post some pics soon

me too! i have some henna and indigo here that i plan to apply to my hair for the very first time. i will do it this weekend. post pics soon!;)

DUH! I figured it was the wrong thing. I guess people drink it like regular water. It does come in a can. Sorry it's taken me so long to post pics but I'm trying to wait until I go to the salon. I promise to post pics no later than Thursday.

I buy the henna here: http://www.mehndiskinart.com/hair_henna_dye.htm or you can try http://www.henname.net/henna.html

You can buy the indigo here: http://www.mehandi.com/shop/hairindigo/

Read up on henna here: www.hennaforhair.com and search some of the threads.

Everyone is not happy with how tangled their hair is after a henna treatment. Many complain of "straw like" hair so be sure it's something you want to try. There is no one recipe as far as what you can add to henna. Most people add oils for the moisturizing affect. Moisturizing is really important after a henna treatment. HTH.

Sorry so late, girls. Life got in the way!

First pic is just henna. Second pic is henna and indigo.

Do you find that oils or conditioner cause the Indigo black to fade out fast? What about MTG or Boundless Tresses, does it affect the black color? bonjour

My henna and indigo 2 process combination: Excellent results!!! and no chemicals! This is too good to be true. I finally got it right. Before, it did not take well because I had coatings of oil or conditioner on my hair and it interfered AND WORST OF ALL, I left the Indigo to sit and get black before I applied it. That was where I failed before. Now I mix up the Indigo after I have rinsed out the henna which I left on for one hour and allowed my hair to airdry nearly dry and then apply the Indigo for 1 hour.I also add sea salt to my indigo. Some things do not work right because we do things wrong! bonjour

I haven't noticed that they affect my color. I use MTG a lot. My grays seem to pop back up relatively fast though. :nono: Think I'm going to buy one of those dye pens for my grays. :yep:

Just though I'd repost larger images:
