Essential oils halal?

I use essential oils in my hair all the time. I have a friend that is muslim and interested in using them but she is not sure if they are halal or not. Does anyone know? Or any Muslims that know what kind of products that have ingredients I shouldn't even bother telling her about? thanks I want to be respectful.

As long as she doesn't ingest the oil (which you're not supposed to do anyway) she'll be fine. To be extra safe, tell your friend to stick to oils that are distilled or expressed, not extracted using solvents.

thanks so much for your help. These essential oils are therapeutic and they have the GRAS standard and a supplement label so they can be ingested. I have been ingesting them for years. when needed, that is. Some aren't meant to be ingested.

So as far as purity and safety they can be ingested but for religious they still cannot be because they are not halal. Is that correct? Please explain.

That is correct. If the bottle says safe for consumption then it's okay, but since they may or may not contain alcohol, which is not allowed for Muslims, it's best to just not take that chance.
