Exhausted with my leave in search...

I've found that I can't use a liquid leave in because it isn't moisturizing enough and I can't use a heavy creamy lotion because it is too much. I like Oyin Hair Dew and Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion.

How I apply it also matters. After I wash, I put a Tshirt on my head for about 5-10 mins, then I do my leave in. My hair isn't sopping wet or bone dry, just damp.

Arian, I literally just make a cup of tea and put it in a spray bottle for a week with some oils. Currently my herbal tea blend is:
1. nettle (aka stinging nettle)
2. burdock root
3. oolong

Oils are one or all of: grapeseed, EVOO, argan

Some ladies just use simple green or black tea (like Liption).

After I spray, I seal with a butter or oil then twist it up. Done!

Do you keep this in the fridge? How long does it keep?

Oyin handmade hair dew. I use it alone or under qhemet biologics amla olive and heavy cream.

What's the consistency of amla olive and heavy cream?

Have you tried KimmayTube's Leave in Recipe?

I don't like many leave-ins but my hair melts w/:

Trader Joes Conditioner
Aloe Vera Gel
Grapeseed Oil
Maracuja oil

I have used the Kimmaytube before and it did the same thing. But I think I figured something out.

I washed and deep conditioned my hair yesterday. Instead of applying the DevaCurl One Condition to my hair, I mixed it in a spray bottle with water, jojoba and castor oils. I sprayed this mixture on damp hair and let it dry just a little before twisting with the Qhemet. This was perfect! I think sealing it in was the key, but I was trying to find a quick solution and that didn't work. I will note that I have attempted a method similar to this before with the Trader Joe's Nourish Spa and my hair wasn't happy. So ANY conditioner probably won't do. Therefore, I'll be buying the small bottles of the One Condition from Ulta.

Harina--it can last over a week when I put in EOs to scent it. Otherwise about a week in the fridge sounds right. Out of the fridge just a couple 3 days room temp

Lately, I've been using Aloe Vera Gel (the kind you purchase from the Health Food Store and have to refrigerate after opening), distilled water and a drop of glycerin. I seal with Blue Magic Coconut Grease.

I keep my spray bottle in the fridge and moisturize and seal every other day.

Moisture? Check!
Detangling? Check!
Hold? Check!
Definintion? Check!
Cheap? Check!
Can purchase locally? Check!

I have no idea why I didn't use AVG sooner. Stuff is like, love---literally, love---poured on my hair and scalp.

Girl, you making the mixtress in me come all the way OUT! Now, I wanna make a tea out of nettle, horsetail, rosemary, burdock, lavender, sage, thyme and other hair happy herbs and add it to my AVG mix! I have a feeling that my hair will be soft and moist beyond words!

There's place near me that sells fresh or dried herbs in bulk so I'm gonna do this in a few weeks and report back with my results!

I was searching for threads talking about not using leave-in conditioner. I have tried a zillion and they all dry my hair out after a day or so. I don't know why the thought just occurred to me to not use any leave-in conditioner, but lo and behold I think that's the answer for me. My hair seems to be ok with just aloe vera juice and oil. I'm going to pick up some aloe vera gel to see if my hair likes that as well. I have med-thick strands btw.

I have natural, fine strands. I use:

Komaza Coconut Lotion--Love, Love, Love :love4:
Curly Kinks Satin Roots--Love, Love, Love :love4:
Trader Joes Nourish Spa Conditioner--this give definition to my hair, and it is cheap

Paul Mitchell The Conditioner--this is good, but I do not think I will
repurchase just because there are other products, I like better
