:bighug: No flames from me either. I wish I knew about this forum when I was relaxed. I probably would still be relaxed with with hair down to my butt.

As a fellow 4zzz I completely understand! I will cosign what everyone else said. At the end of the day it's all about healthy hair:yep:. Relaxed, natural or anywhere in between as long as your taking care of it, it will grow to whatever length you decide you want to rock. After a 4 month stretch I sometimes contemplate going natural cause I see so many beautiful heads of natural heads of hair, but I haven't decided that it's right for me at this time in my life. No judgments here and anyone who makes them can keep their negative attitude to themselves, do you!

No flames here. You have to do what's best for you and your hair. I was natural myself for about four years before I went back to relaxers--I just prefer the ease of upkeep and more style options. Do what you need to do to be the best you possible, and good luck on your relaxed hair journey.

P.S. I agree with the other ladies--relax your hair first and see what kind of style you want then. When I went back to relaxing, I thought I would have to start over again with a short 'do, but my stylist was able to save like 9" of hair so that I was able to rock a sexy shoulder length style right out of the gate. Judging from the pictures in your album, you should be able to do the same.

Whatever you decide, be sure and post the pics!

LadyRaider kbragg I really don't know where the misconception that relaxed heads find it hard to work out. I workout 6 days a week & 3 of those days twice a day! I cowash & wetbun & my hair & body is thriving. I roller set sometimes on Saturday after my workout but by Monday it's sweated out so I just cowash & bun.

My edges lay flat so I actually have a low mani regi now. I retained more & got more thickness these last few months with this new lifestyle too!

Best wishes kbragg!

Yeah, I never had a problem working out with relaxed hair, even when I was a true athlete and ran track and cross-country.

I was 7 months into my transition when I decided to relax again because I, too, want to look a certain way every day. It often seems like a lot of naturals that thrive do so by wearing weaves and wigs (not all, but many). I'd rather wear my own relaxed hair.

How do you wear your hair natural? For me living and working in the fitness business, I don't straighten my natural hair, it is a waste of time. I usually wear twist-outs or bun and that's it. I'm going to straighten it in fall and it will be the first time since 1997.

Girl, I am 4z, natural, and have to deal with balding so I completely feel your frustration. My hair never looks like the thick haired natural gurus.

Of course I came in this thread to see pictures of your beautiful new hairstyle. Please post pictures of your journey from natural to relaxed. Really excited to see your new hair cut. Finding someone that can cut and style hair is difficult. Asking ladies that have the style you desire who did their hair, is the safest way to go.

:bighug: Girl you got to do what you got to do! TBH the only the only thing that keeps me from relaxing is that as a natural my hair is a little more forgiving of my laziness. But you have to feel good about you so no flames. You've worked so hard I know you don't want to feel like something is holding you back from being your full fierce self. I hope all works out for you.:yep:

It's been 20x's harder working out as a natural than relaxed. As soon as i start to sweat my hair starts to knot up:nono: It refuses to stay stretched. The only way my hair is ever manageable is if I'm wearing fake hair or looking like lil bow wow and I'm tired of both:lol:

That's cool. I don't even know. I didn't have trouble working out relaxed, and I don't have trouble now working out natural. BUT... I don't mind looking a hot mess half the time. :look:

But as I said, just do you! :yep:

As everyone said, do what works for you!! Yea!! Why are you chopping it off? You cant start from the current length relaxed with maybe a trim if needed. You may be pleasantly surprised at the length once relaxed. If after living with that for a few weeks, you still don't like it, then get the cut. That's just my two cents. Good luck on whichever way you decide to go! :-)

Awwww, I'm sad that you will be relaxing, but mainly because your hair was acting out and not letting you be fierce!

New body, new hair, go Kass!!

Nothing but support from me, hon. Do whatever you want....just make sure you share pics. :lick:

I've scoured this forum multiple times, subscribe to all the gurus on youtube, bought every book on the subject and I just can't do it anymore.

I have super ultra kinky 4zzz hair. No matter what I do it rolls, balls and knots on itself. I don't like looking like a boy in twists, Tired of fake hair and wigs, can't make a decent bun, and none of the cute styles work for me because I have no damn edges. They started to fill back in but unfortunately like the rest of my hair it just wants to knot on itself. I've DCed, cowashed, oil rinsed, you name it, I've done it, but the nature of my hair just seems to want to be a TWA.

I'm just sick of it. I'm chopping it all off, getting a relaxer and rocking a short and sexy cut.. I'm tired of spending hours of maintenance on my hair only to still look busted.

Sorry for the rant, bring on the flames.

So sorry you feel that way but I understand. No flames here. This is actually one of my fears since I'm currently transitioning.

When you cut your hair to your short and sexy cut---post pics!

wait to cut it after you relax. like a month or so. if you still want to go for it. but you know there is a lot of upkeep with a short pixie. i relaxed my hair and i haven't gave my natural hair a second thought. i like that i can see my length better. now if i can just stop doing stupid stuff to it, i can get it to stay on my head!

When i found this forum i was over the moon at the thought of being able to grow long natural hair. I was frustrated with relaxers and my hair was thin and dry and my edges were going. Seeing all the natural heads here and on youtube gave me hope :yep: :nono:
It wasnt until i'd transitioned for almost two years and had my bc that i accepted that my hair will NEVER swing or hang - it will always grow up and out, with 80% shrinkage to boot. I now never view hair tutorials cos my hair will NOT do that.
Now i just do me - keep my hair stretched/twisted, and wear a chunky 'fro when i want to be cute (and been called militant for it. wtf? ). I wont relax again cos coarse kinky hair and a sensitive scalp do NOT a happy marriage make :nono:

All that to say this: no one can tell you what to do cos only you can decide what you're willing to struggle with and what not. So do you. And if you want to go natural again, do it.

do what makes you feel more beautiful! try grease before (nautral pomaeds etc...) as I keep seeing that it works for type 4 hair (especially to stretch hair). check out thepeelingqueen on youtube, she is the queen of natural pomades and grease and she has type 4 hair. I hope you find what suits you!

I hear you. I've been transitioning for almost seven months and just this week my hair has begun to bishslap. I thought we were getting along just fine, I listen, I leave her alone, I tend to her needs, I give her all my money, but for whatever reason she's been giving me stank. Not ready to climb off the natural path just yet, but I have to say I do miss the ease of the creamy crack ... that hot white puddin ... that burnin soup of alkaline love.

I figure I can do anything for 36 months, but if she's still being a little heaux as of September 2014 ... back to the crack.

I truly understand where you are because I'm right there with you, could have written the whole post myself. I think I've done everything I was 'suppose' to do and my hair still doesn't look the way it should when I style it. I've been wearing braid extensions or my boring puff for most of the 3 years I've been natural.

Best of luck to you, please post pics and an update!

Glad to see all of the support u r receiving. I hope the best hair for u no mattee hoq ia treated or styled :) .

Do you :yep: I can't wait to see pics of your cut. Since your going to relax are you going to flat iron and wear a few styles first?

Hey, I'm with you girl. I've used to go to the shop every two weeks and get my hair washed and styled. In the am I'd just unwrap and go. My main thing about natural hair is it's too time consuming. I thought about heat training it, but my hair does best with no heat. I'm going to relax on Sat. I just want something simple so that my hair isn't such a complicated issue.
