I just read the ingredients for my curly pudding and stretch silkening creme and both have mineral oil. the curly pudding even has parrafinum liquidum. I can see why a waxy substance would make my twist outs more defined, but does it also prevent moisture from staying in hair?:ohwell: I love how it works and I am not trying to give any brand sa bad review--but I'd rather for hair health and not just cosmetics. Please advise!

This really depends on how far you want to take it. Its like the difference between a person who eats everything, to a vegan, ovegan, to a raw food diet. For some its that serious. So here's a few of the more common ones but you will have to really think about how far you want to go.

mineral oil
petroleum
sulfates (laurly, laureath)
alcohols (I never remember which ones. One is drying and one is not)
parabens
pvp/carbomer
silicones (dimethicone, etc.)

But the list goes on the more natural/organic you want to get.

This is all great information! There are a few things I have to throw out. All my shampoos and conditioners pass the test, but some of the formulas I use for smooth twist outs do not :nono:

Miss Jessie's products cost way too much to be causing build up in my hair. As much as each jar costs, that stuff needs to be nourishing, not potentially detrimental. I don't understand why they can't use quality ingredients because they're damn sure making enough to use the best of the best in their formulations.

For this reason, I refuse to ever purchase anything that has to do with the overpriced brand.

FifiB, if you have products that work for you, keep using them until you find a replacement. There are people on this board that use products with those ingredients and still enjoy there hair. So take your time until you find what you want.
