- i comb from root to tip
- i don't sleep with a scarf because i think i look ugly
- i never DC
- i never moisturize
- i've had in box braid extensions for 2 months, my roots are locking and i don't care
- i don't think i have what it takes to get past APL/BSL; i'm too lazy
- i care more about my hair lookin' and ackin' right than health; it's dead anyway *shrugs*

I hate the Denman brush, I use a regular brush to brush back my edges, and 99% of the time I don't wear my scarf to bed because I'm either too lazy or irritated that it always comes off while i sleep.

I"m on day 8 hair and absolutely loving it.

I don't moisturize and seal daily. In this week, I've only added a pea sized amount of moisturizer once to roll my hair dry on flexi rods. My hair feels better and lasts longer without adding product to it daily.

I just got a virgin relaxer from being natchal for 9 months and am loving being able to comb my hair daily. :look:

I love flat ironed hair.

I refuse to spend longer than 8 minutes for daily styling.

I don't like oils on my hair.

I like sulfates, mineral oil, and cones. We cool.

I care more about my hairstyle than length.

I love my stylist. We cool.

I hate sleeping with a scarf on my head because it always comes off in the middle of the night :heated:

I usually put a headband over my scarf when I put it on (not a tight one, though). Otherwise, I would have the same issue.

I use products with cones sometimes because I can't always afford to buy products without them.

My confession is that I did something different--broke alot of my 'no manipulation rules':

I usually baby my hair (NO heat/comb/brush etc), but a few wks ago, I let a friend flat iron it for me. I just had to close my eyes and pray lol
That flat iron was turned UP.
She pulled out the fine tooth comb and went from root to tip, just a rippin.
She finished off with the famous brush after each section was done.
My hair was bone straight and pretty:grin:, but the methods used were :nono:

While it was straight, I had to use serum as a 'moisturiser' and avoid water based products, and not being able to 'properly' moisturise was hard!
All in all, I think it broke off alot of those relaxed peices=shorter hair:blush:
It's ok, I'm just closer to being 100% natural:spinning: but I won't be straightening for a WHILE. It's all about TLC and restoration right now. I learned my lesson:rolleyes:

I often forget to seal my hair with oil...actually I always forget. Thankfully this thread is inspiring me to add that as a recurring reminder on my iCal.

  1. I get up every morning and go straight to the mirror to see if my hair has grown any longer since yesterday. :spinning:
  2. I like letting product build up on my hair... Actually, I prefer my hair that way
  3. I like combing my hair after I let the product build up on it. It feels super strong and soft.
  4. I untwist my hair to see if it's gotten any longer since the last time I checked (a couple days ago).

I had to chuckle a bit over this one. Its easier to see if you color your hair. Just saying.

I have one: I only went natural in September 2010 and I'm already making plans to texlax by my one year "Nappiversary" so it really won't be a Nappiversary anyway...oh, I've been hating the texture of my hair (the frizz, the unruliness, etc) for about 5 months now, so, yea...

I cut my hair when I'm upset.

6 months of growth gone, natural to texlaxed, and planning on shaving my head to go natural again.

I need a better stress relief activity besides exercise.

I flat ironed my hair last week... Experienced a tiny bit of breakage a week later this time. Good thing I had it set to "1".

I'm coloring my hair this weekend. I'm thinking just some strategically placed coppery highlights or peekaboos. The "summertime setback" is calling. I thought I could resist this year since I've been SO good with my reggie and have fully recovered and then some from last summer's color fiasco. I'm going to use Avlon/Affirm MoisturColor. Not sure what volume yet. I'll post the results.

I love Mineral oil and grease...:ohwell:
I havent trimmed my ends in over 6 months :nono:
I'm addicted to feeling my new growth:drunk:
im about about 6weeks post relaxer and im relaxing tomorrow!!!! i dont like stretching.:nono:

- I texlax every 7-8 weeks; I don't like the way my hair looks when I stretch.
- I don't wash my hair is braids/twists; it's just too time-consuming.

My confessions are:
-I take better care of my weave hair than my real hair.
-I don't plan on washing/co-washing my hair for 3 weeks just b/c I don't want to mess up my conrows.
-I have been slacking on moisturizing/sealing my hair.
-my main goal of wearing weaves/wigs is to ps until I reach my goal, now I'm hooked on buying hair and care less of my goal.
Some of these lazy practices has actually helped my hair to grow.

I normally spot check the twists that are at the nape of my neck so that I can prevent it from knotting up and tangling. Well, for the past few months I have been slipping and I have paid for it with ssk's. :(

I LOVE sulfate shampoo's. I have force myself not to shampoo more than once or twice a week.

I have products that are staples that contain mineral oil. I love them.

Ive been seriously slacking on maintaining my hair for the past fews weeks

Not DCing
Not M&Sing daily
Not wrapping my hair up at night

I had to give myself a trim because my ends have been so dry, and full of ssk:nono:

Im giving myself a fresh start...

I DC like once every 6 weeks. :(

I find SSKs on my ends throughout the day and by the time I get home I completely forget to clip them.

I went to bed every night for a whole week with no scarf and loose matted hair on my fake satin pillow. I woke up lookin like Don King every morning and all I did was dampen it and put it in a bun or a tuck-n-roll style. When I detangled the other day it was hell!

I wanted to texturize my hair last week out of pure boredom. (I like changing it up all the time.) Glad I didn't end up doing it because I would mad at myself today if I had. Going to go buy a wig instead to satisfy my urge for a different hairstyle.

I really want to dye my hair some crazy manic panic color just for the hell of it but bleaching it scares the crap out of me.

I HATE detangling my hair! That's really the only complaint I have as a natural.

The one thing I actually miss from my relaxed hair days is that I could comb or brush my hair everyday with ease. (Might not have been a healthy hair practice but I could do it dang it!) I miss feeling the bristles on my scalp from brushing my hair. One day when I get my hair flat ironed the first thing I'm going to do is brush it.

I keep my hair braided up and under a wig because I'm lazy. My hair is thriving though so, thankfully, low-manipulation works for me.

I find the my wash day process of oiling, massaging, washing and conditioning my hair to be very therapeutic. I look forward to wash days because of it. It's just that dang detangling session that I can't stand!

I don't moisturize and seal everyday. Yet again because I'm hair lazy.

Instead of using the edges-friendly method of using bobby pins to secure my wigs, I've been using the combs on the new one. I don't even oil them to cut down on the strain. *hangs head down in shame*

I take better care of my hair than I do my body.

1) I can forget to drink water for days
2) I prefer to pop mulitivitamins than eat healthily
3) I've tried to quit smoking twice this year, but I'm still on the cancer sticks

I am ashamed :(

I've been bad and doing that too. :perplexed Never heard of oiling them before.

I've got confessions :look:

I use my Maxiglide on 10 (the highest setting for those that don't know ) every 10-14 days and my hair has done nothing but thank me for it :yep:

If I leave my hair curly for more than 15 minutes I get horrible matts and tangles in my nape area. I'm not dealing with it :nono:

My SO doesn't like my bonnet. We have fancy pillows that have a silky underside. I just flip mine over and sleep on that.

I wear my hair in buns 96% of the time. I love the look of shock and awe on people's faces when I take it down :gorgeous: the older white ladies at my job just love to tell me how long and beautiful my hair is (it really isn't that long, but I'm assuming they've never seen a black girl with real hair this long before ) and I love to hear it

I stretch a piece of my hair everyday to see how far I have until WL :drunk:

I haven't been exercising; been feeling very bad for the past week.
I haven't been taking my vitamins.
I don't sleep with the satin scarf every night.

I wear it down daily.

It all broke off due to stress from work.

the good news is that I have a new job! after I get my haircut and all the damaged parts off I'm going to start my hair journey again with a vengeance.

Oh yeah! Forgot one! Im considering not moisturizing my hair during the week and relying only on my DC. Im trying to weigh the outcomes of the manipulation of moisturizing/sealing (I get little broken hairs that are millimeters long) vs. not moisturizing and sealing and no manipulation. Decisions, decisions.

You should definitely go for it. I primarily rely on my DC for moisture. The only other time I "moisturize" my hair is if I happen to be twisting it with the Jane Carter Solution Hair Nourishing Cream. For my hair, using a quality DC is much more beneficial than moisturizing my hair every day or every other day. Plus, the moisture from the DC is sufficient for my hair.

@temfash I recently started exercising more regularly and I definitely dont wash my hair more than once a week.

I don't wash my hair more than once a week, either. I use Oscar Blandi's Pronto dry shampoo if I need to "cleanse" my hair during the week.

I just HAD to quote this last post for emphasis. Although detangling is no longer the hellish nightmare that it used to be when I first start doing my own hair, I still hate it!!! I grew up as a heat-straightened natural, so I never...ever had to detangle. I still didn't believe it when I started doing my own hair. I thought detangler was just something that moms used for their daughters so they could comb their hair without tears (on both ends of the spectrum). I learned quickly enough, though.

I say all of this to say that I feel your pain...because it's my pain too.

My other confessions:

-I apply a tiny bit of shampoo to my hair because I don't believe that the run-off from the shampoo is enough to thoroughly cleanse my hair.

-In the summer, I clarify every week because I use silicones & pomades to style my hair.

-In the summer, I blow dry my hair every week on cool with a comb attachment.

i feel bald-headed. when i look in the mirror, i think my hair is huge, but when i take pics, it looks like a shrunken fro to me. if don't figure something out soon, i'm going to do something stupid. i hate the fact that i feel like anything i might do to my hair may cause damage. i feel like a slave right now. i love my natural hair, but i hate having to be subject to doing certain things to avoid problems. i just wanna be free.

I've been rocking wash in goes on the daily. So I haven't been using actual "moisturizers". Except for the days I give my hair a break and do braids/twists/outs. However I usually do seal in my leave in with an oil and then I add the gel...but not always. :look:
