Uh oh, grabbing popcorn, *be right back*

But for real, I probably will never acv rinse again-- I think it contributed to drying my hair out- and the resulting breakage- esp. the crown

I'd say spritz from back in the day too. It would make my hair dry and crispy, a great set up for breakage.

Asides from that, I don't know if any ONE products was the main culprit; I'd attribute my breakage to technique and overuse of appliances (i.e. not moisturizing/washing, flat ironing too much, incorrect use of relaxer, etc)

I thought I was the only one! I used it for about a two months every wash day and it made my hair feel kind of rough like the cuticle was raised.

Aphogee two minute. :nono:

My hair was like straw afterwards and nursing it back to health was not easy.

detangling my hair was HELL ON EARTH! big wads of hair coming out:nono:....

Before I knew anything about anything, I used to used JAM and it dried my hair out.... It took almost 2 weeks to get my hair back to to normal. :nono:

I would have to say let's jam hair gel/stiff stuff. And that black glue for glue in weaves.......I learned my lesson in high school from those.....not nice.

Sun-In and Aqua Net hairspray when I was in my early teens. I had the orange bangs that I would tease to the extreme, and then I would shower them with AquaNet...... blowdry...... and spray on some more AquaNet....... Those were the days.

Just perms. I know that's old fashioned but keep in mind I haven't really used relaxers since everybody called them perms. :)

Flawlis1 Yessssssss. My poor bangs, sun in dried it out so bad, I used to also use Rave Spritz.

Something else that did me dirty was ProStyl Brown Gel. Man… that mess was terrible!

I broke off a rack of hair tryin to comb that stuff out

Sun-in, jam, any gel, all holding spray and spritz, all products with alot of alcohol, relaxers, Nioxin shampoo.

A product called perm repair. That stuff was horrible.

I second that...What was in that stuff?? It made my hair hard as straw back when I was permed and called myself "repairing" my hair. Eta- I found the ingredients-- no wonder why it felt so horrid, I had no idea what I ws doing w/that product (look at the 1st ingredients + protein high on list)!

Edited to add ingredients:

Yes I used this towards the beginning of my hair journey and my hair was shedding something awful..

This isnt really a product but the first (and last) time i got a weave done, the lady put glue on my crown area:spinning: luckily i didn't go BALD from that but the area was significantly thinner. glue - never again!!!!!

ladyfay why Nioxin shampoo?? I still have the last of my stash-- I heavily dilute my shampoos now though (in color applicator bottle)-- and only use them on scalp. But just curious

When I washed my hair a few years ago, it dried my hair out and caused some breakage. I tried it again last summer and my hair shedded like crazy. So maybe it is too strong for me. A friend stated that you supposed to used the whole line in order to get good results. I don't know for sure, but it didn't work for me.

Any Aphogee product - many hair sprays and gels - overuse of protein products. all of these due a number on my hair - makes it dry and feeling like straw !

Lustrasilk Straight Effects-dried my hair out horribly causing breakage
Soft Sheen Carson Hi Rez Hair color- this totally killed my hair , i had to slowly cut off all my colored hair

Haha, my best friend still loves herself some JAM! No matter how much it dries out her hair...smh

When I was relaxed, I used something called extend-a-perm. Yuck! Dry, brittle unmanageable hair for weeks!
