Not in reference to any particular mother or particular child but the ability to be able to go several weeks or more than a month without combing your child's hair is not a reason to put fake hair on their head.
Comb your child's hair!
I'm a believer of low manipulation. I comb my hair once a week on wash day but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a parent to comb their child's hair at least weekly if a style on the child's own hair only lasts that long.
Leave the fake hair alone and comb your child's own hair.
Well if someone can achieve low manipulation without combing once a week, then that's even better, right? Even less manipulation. Which is even better for our hair.
Idk why I'm arguing with youI don't really care about this...I have no children.
Anyways, I think I'm done![]()
No ma'am. We aren't all going to agree on everything but beyond a little snarky indulgence, I ain't roasting nobody. That child in the first post might be 1.5 years old and your daughter is older. So much hair on such a little head. I'd also be concerned about the tension from the braids. You actually researched a method and got results. Cool. Not to get misunderstood, I do think shes wrong for braiding her babys hair in micros that child is much too young and micros arent the best for anyone's hair anyway.
However, I braid my dd's hair in extentions all the time, granted not in micros but kinky twists or corn rows, and its definately not all long like that (we try to keep it around the same length of her own hair), and dd is quite a bit older tht that child (shes 4)
and her hair has really taken off since I found this site and leared abt the crown and glory method her hair was seriously chopped and screwed so I'm happy I found something that works for us
So I guess I disgust u guys too.....................
Hmmm...well not to be argumentative but the pictorial evidence shows the contrry, no?My belief:
Good hair practices and learning how to properly take care of hair yields positive results in children not the extensions, weaves, etc.
Scenarios:
If a child is wearing extensions and the hair underneath is not being taken care of, the hair will not thrive.
If a child is wearing extensions and the hair is being taken care of, the hair will thrive.
If a child is not wearing extensions and the hair is being taken care of, the hair will thrive.
Contention:
No need for fake hair on a child. It is extra that is not needed. The negatives far out way any perceived positives.

Much to my dismay, my cousin had a style similar to this done on her little girl who isn't even 2 years old. I constanly want to talk to her about it because she pulls the poor babys hair to make it seem "groomed" but it looks painful. However I know where that conversation would go.
That's the key. Some people use extensions as an escape hatch not thinking that you still have to care for the hair they're attached to.I am trying to be/stay general and not get personal to a specific person.
Mother learned how to properly care for child's hair therefor child's hair thrived. Incorporating the same hair practices without the extensions would still yield positive results. The addition of extensions alone did not produce the positive results. Bad hair practices with the use of extensions would still produce bad results. The evidence is all around you as you walk down the street, sit in church, or go to your job.
Trust me, I know what you are saying. The part that I dont agree with is the notion that extentions on a child (not a baby) is strictly negative even in the face of evidence that it doesnt always have to be.I am trying to be/stay general and not get personal to a specific person.

But I'm sure u gys cant feel me since u dont have kids.
Here are some possible answers:
1. Benadryl
2. She ain't got but this much *finger snap* hair. Caint make no styles with that.
3. Complex? You been watching too much Dr. Phil.
4. What you wanna see her edges for? Every hair needs to be braided, tucked, pressed, gelled, and shellacked in place or it isn't "done".
5. So she can whip her hair back and forth like Willow Smith.
6. For real tho'. Just think of all the styles I'll be able to do. It's like having one of those Barbie styling heads but better!
the part I wrote abt I disgust u guys too was more of a statement than a question pretty much saying, people r gonna do with theur children what they will.
For the poster who asked, extentions was the only way to go because the bald spots I showed u was not breakage but where she pulled her hair out by the root whn dh left for Iraq last yr. and having her hair braided eloborately really keeps her hands out of it.
For the poster who made the comment abt combing her hair every week and how its not too much of an effort, since I dont work I have nothing to do but braid her hair so she gets taken down, and dc with heat every 2 weeks.
For the poster who commented abt phycological damage and imprinting negativites abt her own hair into her head. Imma have to call bs on tht one too cause living here in Germany and going to school with a bunch of european kids with the straight and long hair can u imagine what her self-esteem was like walking around with those huge freakin' bald spots in her hair? Now however, she loves her hair becacuse there is no way those stringy, thinned haird girls that she goes to school with could EVER dupicate the styles she wears. She feels special and loves the thickness, and wildness of her natural hair now that mommy figured out how to make it grow. But I'm sure u gys cant feel me since u dont have kids.
Last but not least, to me, hair is an accessory and ure suppose to have fun and expirement no differnt from her rocking her Coach bags and wearing her MAC lipgloss(shes a tru diva) and loves getting her hair done as evidenced by the pic of her dc'ing
Only reason I brought me and dd up in the first place was because I really dont like the pic of the girl getting micros sucking on a pacifier and sitting in a highchair. I just didnt feel rightsaying that not giving the whole story on any note, its bedtime here so talk to u guys tomorrow

I just want to clarify something. I have raised three; two of them being girls.
I did their hair every day. I did one's hair while the other was taking a shower and getting dressed. I have done their hair while they were eating breakfast.
The point I'm trying to make is that yes, I do understand taking care of children's hair on a daily basis.
How a specific parent takes care of a specific child's hair is their choice but in general terms I do not agree with putting fake hair in a child's hair.
That's all
Hopefully, I have not strayed too far from general and got into personal.
umm I dont remember quoting anyone. But I DO remember like 2 posters going on record saying tht they indeed do NOT have children. So unless u were one to those women, (and I'm not scroling up I'm just assuming since u were so quick to say u raised 3) noone was talking to u so u sound ape s*it crazy right now.
Yet u managed to miss the entire point in tht passage of my post?!
#THAT is all
