grrrrrllll you better maxiglide

I thought about it...and read a bunch of reviews...some said they couldn't get it at the roots and then I read some and their hair got straight and gorgeous. Eh I have a sedu and a solia so I might get a maxiglide one day for the hell of it. I wish I had a buddy nearby with one so I could take it for a test drive lol

I stand corrected... The girl in the video is transitioning and what I thought was heat damage is actually her relaxed hair. I love the swang but would be terrified of heat damage on my own hair.

girl i have one and i love it! but since im going to be keeping my hair straight this winter i am trying out different things. Im def considering repurchasing my Sedu. I wanna compare them

I get my hair that straight with my flat iron that I paid $300 for! SMH! I know! But I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE...LOVE that flat iron and if it ever broke I would shell out another $300 to get another one just like it. I do use heat protectant. I wash my hair and deep condition, put the heat protectant spray (John Frieda Heat Protectant Spray) all over and put my hair in Dookie Plaits (that's what my mom always called them) and let my hair AIR DRY over night. They next day I take out the plaits and use John Frieda THERMAL Frizz Serum (leaves my hair SOOOOO silky and frizz free) all over my hair and flat iron! It lasts for 3 weeks if I wrap my hair every night. But most of the time I have to wash my hair before 3 weeks...

But yeah...

empressri I can get my roots with the maxiglide with and without the teeth attachment. I did it without it on these pics

I had one! They are good...if that helps your decision any. The thing I didn't like about it was that the color came off of the plates...the blue "paint". They need to make the iron in a 100% ceramic version...that would be sooooo much better. And the steam is a cool feature if you know how to use it...it makes your hair SUPER soft. It's crazy...

What flat iron do you use?

I loved the way her hair came out but what bothered me is the fact that he used two flat irons. That's a little too much heat for me. In fact if my hair ever got straight after just blow drying I would probably leave it at that and skip the flat iron.

I'm sure that you can, but question is, why would you want to? He's frying the crap out of her hair! Way too much heat. This video reminds me of why I never go to the salon to get my hair done.

LOL. Right!! Atleast when you do your own hair you try to use the LEAST amount of DAMAGING things as possible. He might as well have stuck her hair in a deep fryer!! Jk! But you know what I mean...it did come out nice though...

It's really okay to use heat people.. really it is. You can do it without damaging your hair. Not everyone's hair who uses heat is damaged. I use heat regularly and my hair looks great. It's technique. I get mine this straight at home with my GHD's or FHI's. My stylist uses FHI and it's always "hair book" worthy when I leave. She uses a protectant and so do I. My ends aren't dry or damaged. I use quality products and pay attention to what my hair needs.

It just amazes me that people want to have long hair just to have it.. never to wear it out or look cute.. it's not that serious.. hair will grow... it's okay to flat iron or press once in a while .. or every week.. or whatever .. just make sure you keep your hair moisturized and conditioned.

Amen! I personally wouldnt work that or spend that much on my hair to look good and grow if I'm ultimately going to just hide it or never show it off.

I've visited that salon before (when I was relaxed) and the owner (Moe) did my hair.. he did a really good job.

Anyway, I am able to get those results on my own with my flat iron and ZERO heat damage and I'm not heat trained. I use a heat protectant so I'm not afraid of heat.. my fhi iron is set to about 350 but no more than 375. I really think the temperature of your iron should be determined by the structure of your hair. I'm sure there are some fine haired ladies out there that can get their hair bone straight with the iron on 200-300 but I know this would do nothing for my hair. With the ceramic irons on the market today I really don't think the Marcel flat iron is necessary.

Question: where her straight ends a result of heat damage or could she be transitioning and still have relaxer left on the ends? How do you tell the difference.

This thread makes me want to straighten my hair...but I don't plan on doing it for another year or so - my length is not at all impressive (about SL) and I see no point. Last time I straightened my hair I slept with my hair wrapped, then got up in the morning and washed it out...didn't even leave the house after all that. :nono:

I wondered the same thing and she could possibly be transitioning. That's why I didn't comment on the condition of her hair but someone could ask him on YouTube if they were really interested
