My last hope... BKT... ***pic heavy***

As some may know, I have been on my journey steadily for almost a year and have been having very very little progress, in fact it seemed as if I was going backwards. I am transitioning and am about 2 and a half months post, not a long time but the two different textures and the damaged hair and my lack of knowledge made this transition almost impossible. I decided my last line of defense before going back to the creamy crack is BKT... Here are my pics.
SORRY THERE SO BIG... UPLOADED FROM PHONE!

Before anything just nappy damaged hair.

The back of my hair, the most damage 4z kinks.

Washed with clarifying shampoo, nothing but tangles... Ugh!

Texture shot of back after wash... Ugh

I then applied the BKT as instructed, that took about half an hour. But the detangling process was easier then usual.

Hair loss from the application... This is about half of what I usually lose during detangling.

After applied I blow-dried...

Blowdried after application.

My ragged ends, still there but at least the don't feel like hay... Had my SO do a quick dusting... Not to even it just to get some of the damage.

Final project... Feels like silk... Especially the previously relaxed hair
The new growth is very very soft.

Product i used... Picked up at BSS... For 60 dollars.

a6898b65-fc85-96de.jpg

Tools of the trade... Nothing expensive and infact the flat iron has cracks and missing pieces....:-/

So my final take... My hair looks great feels even better. I was very impressed with this whole process. I did all this last night, went to sleep with my hair out and no scarf and it's still looks the same and feels the same with no signs of revisions.
I will get one more use out if that 4 oz bottle of BKT.. So if you think about it, it was only 30 bucks to get my hair done.
The only things I didnt like was the stuff is strong on the eyes, but then again I wasn't using a fan, just had the window open. Also the flat ironing burned the bejesus out my fingers. Besides that all systems go for a rerun with this product.

Ok... I'm done

Happy hair growing everyone!!!

Looks nice OP.

I have a question though, what damaged your hair in the first place? Was it the transitioning?

Also, make sure to nuture your hair. It's not a good idea to apply chemical processes to damaged hair. Looks can be deceiving.

Well before i got to the wonderful world of LHCF, i would just do anything to my head, when from beach blonde to honey brown, to black, all permanent colors, relaxing, then the next go round texturizing, coloring too close to perm, never ever ever moisturizing, never washing... basically it was just a bomb that went off in my head, so now my hair is really fried, but i have been keeping up with my moisture and staying away from most chemicals, the transitioning really had my hair falling out because of the two different textures. Bone straight and really really curly, tight 4a.

Your hair looks nice and probably feels super soft. I hope this works out for you long term.

I'm just alarmed by the amount of hair you lost during detangling. And you say this is half of what you normally lose! Maybe others will chime in: is that a normal amount of hair to lose during detangling?

If not, try to get to the root (no pun intended) of this problem to stop the breakage (figure out if you need to soften the new growth, moisturize,or add protein, etc.). Only then will your retention improve and allow you to start seeing progress.

My hair relaxed hair does not do well with moisture products or hard protien, i have been using ORS replenishing conditioner and it helped for a while but my ng just kept getting more and more tangled because my NG craves moisture... so the end result was no matter what i used a protien or moisture, on part of my hair would be intensly matted and tangled causing loads of breakage during detangling, im hoping the BKT can be long term too it at least loosens the curl if nothing else.

Your BKT'd hair looks great :) Just remember that BKT isn't going to solve any problems though. It's just meant to be a styling aide, not a fix-all. Any issues you have had with protein or moisture levels will still be there when the BKT wears off if you don't change up your regimen.

Your BKT hair looks great :yep: Do you mind sharing exactly what products you are using on your hair? What is your regimen?

You did a great job!

Just make sure to keep your hair protected at night. I think that most of our damage comes from not protecting our ends.

Well I use ORS replenishing conditioner as my deep conditioner... i usually do that once every 3-4 days.
I moisturize with wave neavoue(sp) or ORS moisturizing lotion and seal with coconut oil or evoo.
I wash my hair with shampoo not that often but when i do its hello hydration shampoo.
my hair is tied up in a bun 98% of the time. I blow dry my hair with CHI infusion and another heat protectant once a week- once every 2 weeks.

Thats pretty much all i got so far.

I have tried moisturizing conditioner like cholestorol and DPR-11 works wonders on my new growth but my relaxed hair suffers terribly

For the first 2 days after the BKT, you're not supposed to do anything to ur hair. not even wrapping it. or tucking it behind your ear. So what do you do with it at night??

it looks great...

however i cant bring myself to do it...1. im a science major and our dissection specimens are embalmed in formaldehyde and the smell makes me wanna throw up...and it lingers...i cant see myself putting something that contained formaldehyde on my precious hair 2. i'm scared of heat damage (just me) 3. i'd get bored with straight hair, but for the price i'd feel like i'd have to keep it straight to get my money's worth lol

I honestly didn't smell anything and my nose is very sensative the stuff just made my eyes hurt.
As for heat damage I only put my hot iron up to 410 not the recommended 450 and the keratin is. Heat protectant so I'm not too worried.
