**YAY** My Global BKT 2% w/Juvenix Experience - PICS/PICS/PICS The Remix!
Soooo - I finally did it. I got a BKT! I started out the week before giving myself a henna treatment (I added greek yogurt) and my hair was curl/coil-less. I was nervous so I washed and condish'd it 2 days later then the night before my BKT I co-washed and DC overnight. I wore the condish in my hair all day the next day in a puff. My coils & curls were back
DAY OF: I went in and she poo'd my hair with a clarifying shampoo (twice) then proceeded to apply the Global Keratin%. She didn't detangle or anything and she applied it very quickly to my damp hair. I think I lost very little hair. I like the way it looked with just the keratin on my hair - my coils/curls were very defined.
Next came the blowdrying - not sure which tool she used but she used a paddle brush and it was kinda rough. I think the more the BKT dried on my hair (not that it was dry but) the more difficult it was to blow dry. I could see smoke or fumes rising. I could smell the fumes (strawberry) and my eyes burned a bit so I closed them and went into relaxation mode. Next thing I know the fire alarm went off and firemen showed up. Uh oh
. There was no vent. We she dried my hair and it wasn't impressive yet. She had to really work with me. Although she has probably done tons of BKTs she probably had not done someone with quite my hair texture.
Next she flat ironed my hair with an FHI platform runway (I think). She did small sections at a time, never touching with her hands but holding with a comb and doing maybe 7 passes or so at 450 degrees. I told her I had a heat phobia but she insisted it that 450 was necessary to seal in the keratin. She was done and pleased with her work. I was okay but worried about how I was going to go 48 hours with my hair lookign the way it did. She flat ironed it straight but it was still kinda poofy. When I walked outside it flowed in the wind but it never just lay straight.
I waited the full 48 hours plus a few more. I didn't follow the "keep it straight, no headbands, pins, clips" rule. I only did it once each day for a few hours otherwise I would have looked a complete mess LOL! I washed and boy was I shocked. the front of my hair on both sides had about 4 inches of straight hair (I'm natural
erplexed). Now in all fairness some of that hair was kinda loosely coiled but not straight. Now I'm wondering if I have heat damage - dayum, dayum, dayum (in my best Florida Evans voice). I shampoo twice with the Coppola Keratin poo. My hair is soo soft and I see some curls and coils - but looser than before - and still the straight parts
guess I won't be wearing any wash n go's Sheba1. I dc for about an hour with Giovanni's Smooth as Silk and rinsed.
I rollerset using KimmayTube's leave in recipe and I used perm rods for a twist n' curl style. I used the Krinkles n' Kurls mousse as a setting solution. I slept in the rods overnight allowing my hair to airdry. I took the rods out and my hair was deliciously soft
, smooth, defined, with lots of movement
- the only problem was that I used the smaller rods so my set shrunk - I still love it though. I was trying to frizz it up a little LOL. It was almost like I could do anything to it and it was still just perfect.
OK - now for some pictures:

OK I'm trying but its not working so I'll give it another shot when I get home - Sow'ry
perplexed
erplexed
OK - not a good shot but my puff with DC on it before BKT
This is a shot of it blown dry and partially flat ironed (look at my henna
)
This is what was left in the brush after the blow dry (WOW
)
After the flat ironed BKT (before the 1st poo) sooo poofy
This is a side shot the next day - I know I know I need to get a trim/shape up
My first wash - sorry not a good texture shot - not close enough
The amount of hair I caught after my first poo and condish - post BKT application
Some side shots - my hair feels wonderful but not sure if I have heat damage or not
seems like I'm always saying that
I have a serious heat phobia
Look at the wicked curls my BKT stylist has
I'm loving the feel of my hair. I will do it again but its too expensive to continue going to a salon (and I got a 56% off discount). My edges are not as soft or as smooth as the rest but overall I'm pleased!
