I just don't get why people watch her channel if they disagree with her practices THAT MUCH that threads have to be started about what she is doing and how. She is doing what she wants to her own hair. No one is holding guns to anybody head to follow what she does. As far as heat protectant I am not 100% convinced it works like people think it does.

ETA: I just watched the video and the fact that she even comments on heat protectant and that she needs a trim clearly shows that she is doing what she wants to "her" hair and advises folks to do what they feel the need to "their" hair.

Is she actively trying to grow her hair to feet length, lmao

I don't know, I don't watch her vids. But I normally see people mention her length in these threads. Just curious

Thank you :yep: I mean if you don't like what she's doing or if you disagree, guess what??? don't look at her videos. And it's her hair, so let her do what she wants, let that woman be great.

I had never heard about heat protectant until joining hair boards, none of the hair stylist I went to use them.. Meh. I only use a small amount so I can still get that swang but honestly i don't think that small amount protects my hair.

I always wonder about threads that could potentially be heated and the op is nowhere to be found.

I think depending on the health of your hair you can learn to gage what is truly harmful to you and what (apparently) produces no damage. I'm a newbie and that's what I do.

I think the OP had a genuine concern about someone advising confused individuals about practices that could be very damaging to them through her own actions. If you can use a hot tool without a heat protectant and see no damage appear on healthy hair that is fine, but when you're starting out you're better off trying to do everything 100% correct so that you can slowly isolate what has been hindering your hair health.

The Beauty Brains said leave ins can serve as a heat protectant.

Ateyaa uses Chi Silk Infusion doesn't she? Well there's her heat protectant. Maybe she hasn't read the bottle. (Print is darn small... I had to look up what it was on the internet!)

I think LHCF folks are obsessed with length. Which is fine, because this is the Long Hair Care Forum after all. I am quite obsessed with length myself too, but I also understand that not everybody is. Ateya seems quite content with her shoulder to armpit length hair, it's still healthy :yep:

You have to do what works for your hair. This obviously works for her, so I don't see the problem.

I rarely straighten my hair but when I do I use a heat protector. But I still enjoy watching Ateya's hair swaging videos.

I very rarely use one too and my hair has been growing very well lately. I use heat probably once every two weeks. Very rarely ever use it on the ends of my hair though, usually only on the roots during roller-sets.

I never see a difference with heat protector vs without. When I flat iron I just use water. I know this is very popular... but I don't use it because it makes my hair feel greasy and sticky and it weighs it down. Also, I find that the heat protectant makes my hair smell bad because it burns. I like fluffy bouncy hair that smells fresh and... well... that means not using it.

Exactly..I think that is where alot of this comes from because comments are said about how her hair hasn't grown in such a such a time but I think her hair is pretty much on the healthy side which is more important than length IMO..I think she does want her hair to grow longer but doing 50-11 things to get it there aint her bag.

This is exactly why I think she doesn't use it because she likes her hair bouncy. My hair is way more bouncier and swanging when I don't use it too. Maybe using the correct amount is the key but if it really isn't benefiting you anyway, why waste your time.

End of day it is your hair and preference. As long as she states to her viewers the option of heat protectant, she covers herself.

Is all this about a heat protectant? I don't think there's any product that can fully protect the hair from heat.

Let's just let Ateya do Ateya and if she does something that doesn't work in your hair world, no one is holding a gun to your head saying you have to do it too.

^^ ITA.

Ladies keep in mind Ateyaa wears wigs and weaves most of the time so once every now and again with a temperature controlled device is not going to kill her hair. When you don't wear your hair out a lot you can get away with things that you probably will not if you did them every day. Also the purpose of the video to demo and promote the Izunami irons not to teach best hair care practices.

I dont believe heat protectant works with EVERYTHING. The last time someone burned my hair was using a heat protectant and a marcel (never again!!)...I think with a ceramic it protects...but not on marcels because it is SOO hot.
I think everyone has to remember that she is a Youtube "Personality" and NOT a stylist. You can't take everyone seriously like they are a stylist and hold them up on a Hair pedestal. I understand what the OP is saying, however, Ateya is not a stylist so its not like I listen to her advice one way or another- nor do I listen to most stylist.

uuuummmm Ateya isn't the only one!!! LeobodyC5 has past waistlength hair and doesn't use a heat protectant. :look::look:

Although she doesn't use 'as much' heat and her hair care methods are 'healthier', it can still be damaging. TBH if i didn't know any better, as a subscriber i would go right ahead and 'do what she does' because of the length she has achieved.

'not everybody has to use them, some people do, some people don't'

they are completely different hair types also. can't compare their practices

i dont use heat protectant, and my hair never broke due to heat and i used heat every 2 weeks for 3 years straight

Yeah and 33 post . I swear threads are started just to drum up hits to her channel and LHCF falls for it every time.

Ateya can kick rocks :look:

Its her hair and if she wants to douse it with lighter fluid and flat iron its her head and that's on her.

ETA: Not being a hater either . Just don't see the point in getting up in arms about what someone else chooses to do with their hair.
