I figured, by now, she would have corrected most of the incorrect things she tells her subscribers but obviously not. Who just doesn't use a heat protector? I mean be serious. NuGro is not that super that it protects hair from the damage of a smoking flat iron that is more than likely on the highest temp.

I see she did tell people they could use one but seeing her length, those that are naive to hair care, would think "why use one when my hair could look like hers?"

blah. random vent.

I saw that earlier and was thinking the same thing. The blow drying + flat iron demonstrations + curling iron for later :nono:. IMO that was WAY too much without having any real kind of heat protectant. It kinda hurt to watch.

uuuummmm Ateya isn't the only one!!! LeobodyC5 has past waistlength hair and doesn't use a heat protectant. :look::look:

Although she doesn't use 'as much' heat and her hair care methods are 'healthier', it can still be damaging. TBH if i didn't know any better, as a subscriber i would go right ahead and 'do what she does' because of the length she has achieved.

'not everybody has to use them, some people do, some people don't'

There's a famous stylist to the stars (I forgot who) who says that heat protectants are useless; I remember reading about it here.

Nice to see her W in the back grew in. She wears wigs and LF's so she's never been interested in health. I don't think her hair looks bad. I've never seen her hair longer than SL in the 3 years I've been seeing her on Youtube. Some might say it's by choice. My guess is that anything longer than SL her ends start to look scraggly.

My sister used to use heat on her relaxed hair almost every single day for YEARS and she stayed APL/BSL. Cut/trimmed it every year, and I know for a fact she never used a heat protectant. She's natural now and doesn't use as much heat, I can only imagine how long her hair will get.

As for Ateyaa, if it "works" for her, that's her. However, proof is in the pudding since her retention isn't what it should be (after three years she should at LEAST be APL with all the protective styling she employs, even with her big setback).

I wonder how much better her retention would be if she DID use one, though. #imjustsaying

my girl is ballin, she's got all three of the irons!

:lachen: that she is, can I borrow that Iron? LOL

Ateyaaa A Okay in my books.

What ever she does so be it. It's her hair. I guess what I do will make peoples jaw drop. I blow dry Weekly and love it. LOL

OMG! I haven't watched her videos since 2008 and it's only maybe an inch longer since then!!! it looks thinner too!

She must be COGIC cause she says "on today." :lachen:

Ateyaaa is doing what works for her. What more can we really expect?

Let's just let Ateya do Ateya and if she does something that doesn't work in your hair world, no one is holding a gun to your head saying you have to do it too.

DO THEY USE PROTECTANTS AT DOMINICAN SALONS???? I'VE ACTUALLY NEVER GONE, BUT I SEE SO MANY WOMEN ON YOUTUBE GETTING DOMINICAN BLOWOUTS & I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY PROTECTIVE MEASURES.

THE FUNNIEST THING IS THAT "IN THE VIDEOS" IS SEE THEM FRYING THE HELLLLLLLO OUT OF ALL RACES OF HAIR, INCLUDING BLACK HAIR THAT IS RELAXED & NATURAL "WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF HEAT!!!" I'M LIKE WTF!!! WHY WOULD SALLY'S STRAIGHT HAIR & MARTHAS CURLY HAIR...AND SUZIE'S KINKY/COILY HAIR ALLLLLLLLL USE THE EXACT SAME STRAIGHTENING METHODS? IF NATURAL & RELAXED HAIR NEEDS THE SAME HEAT EFFORTS, THEN I'VE BEEN IN THE GAME TOO LONG

I never used heat protectant until approximately two months ago and I've grown my hair from SL to BSL. However, I don't use heat like she does. I don't blow dry my hair; I rarely flat iron; and I haven't used a curling iron in almost four years. I stick to my weekly sessions under the dryer when I roller set and that's pretty much it. I decided to try out a heat protectant recently for my dryer sessions, and so far so good. :) It all depends on the person and her hair.

Most people don't use a heat protectant. Some have actually said that their hair feels hotter to the touch when they do use it.

The people who get the swinging/bouncing flat irons state the less product the better.

I think having really conditioned/moisturized hair prior to the flat iron is key to not needing the heat protectant.

Our own Dlewis has stated that she doesn't use a heat protectant either.

My last two flat iron hair styles have been done with minimal product and the results have been better honestly.

Does she mean she has shampoo and conditioner in her hair as she is flat ironing it? She keeps saying she has nothing in it but shampoo and conditioner... it's strange to keep saying that if she really has nothing in her hair.

Annnyway her hair looks good. Not everyone has to play by the same hair rules to achieve the results they desire.

Wow, I'm watching this video right now, I had it on before logging into LHCF, and I was so expecting a thread like this

Scorn her all you like, but if it works for her, then it works for her, that's all there is to it really. And like my-everything said, I also recall LeobodyC5 saying she doesn't use heat protectant, and look at her amazing hair that we all drool over. Neither her nor Ateyaaa have hair that is damaged or falling out, so let them carry on with their methods, it's doing them no harm (or us) really. And if some people want to copy their regimen at each and every step, then that's their choice. I'm sure most people are smart enough to know how to take some advice with a pinch of salt, whilst figuring out what works for themselves.

I haven't use heat protectors in a long long ... long long time. I just don't see how anything can protect your hair from that much heat.

My hair looks the best when blow dried and flat ironed with just setting lotion.

I think she meant the shampoo and conditioner is all she used right before flat ironing her hair; of course she washed them out first. She's probably just making the emphasis that she doesn't need to bother with leave-ins and heat protectants; she likes as little in her hair as possible for the flat iron job.

I never see people in salons use heat protectant every- didn't know about it until LHCF- I believe it's a personal preferance also. Do you Ateya!

I see she did tell people they could use one but seeing her length, those that are naive to hair care, would think "why use one when my hair could look like hers?"

I was naive to hair care a little less than two years ago and I STILL wasn't taking hair care advice frm you tubers. People need to use common sense in combination with their own expereinces to draw their own conclusions on hair care.

Back in the day when i had no clue about 'good haircare practices' and wasn't even trying to grow my hair i would only wash every two weeks and would use metal (not ceramic) tongs on my hair almost every day with no heat protectant....my hair was APL.

Now that i'm 'taking care' of it, it seems to be a struggle to retain length.

....mmm...think i'm going to skip all this product and gt back to basics.

I am with those who said the same thing... What Ateya does, it works for her.. I find her entertaining but I don't follow her methods of haircare.
