Thoughts? I found it hilarious. She's as ignorant and judgmental as the very people she's speaking out against.

I didn't know speaking proper English was a sin! (She has nerve to complain, she's grasping for big words with the "educated pauses" to find the right words to say like those anti white Isrealite people you see in Times Square!) And God forbid we go out with the natural hair we were born with.

On the other side of it, there are people who (as we've all seen) give a reason for a rant like that (well, bits of it) to exist. People are free to do whatever they wish to do.

Couldn't make it through the whole thing....too many uses of the phrase "so-called." :look: And most talk "white?" REALLLLLLLY?!?!

None of her statements (that I heard, I didn't make it through the whole thing as I said) were valid....there is no stereotypical natural woman. What I will say is that lately I've met a few black MEN who wanted me to go natural, or stated they preferred women who wore their hair natural....and those men actually DID bash me, look down on me and one actually went into the whole self-hate thing and told me I was trying to conform to another standard of beauty. I think he thought I was natural because I was wearing a braidout when we met...IDK. Needless to say that was a first and last date.

These conversations with black men are bittersweet...its great that they are not only accepting natural women, but embracing them. Its tiring to hear women who are with men who aren't supportive of them transitioning. But then I was like "WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME HOW TO WEAR MY FREAKIN' HAIR?!?!?!" You gonna get an s-curl, jherri curl, grow locks, rock a 'fro if I told you that's what I liked?!?! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

Ok first of all, apparently to her, talking like you are educated means that you are talking like a white person, and then second, who even cares what race someone is dating??? What does that have anything to do with you accepting yourself for who you are?? How can you compare someone dating outside of their race with you wearing weaves or gettin relaxers, child bye. Lol i'm less than 3min into the video...:nono:

Sooo basically there is no point in listening to her, I've come to the conclusion that she is just all butt hurt because her weave is all kinds of jacked up and she is in denial,,:lachen:

lol. i guess this person has a problem with herself??!! yeah maybe. And nowadays its good that we can do whatever we want with ourselves. IM natural but i was also relaxed before and i don't know why there is so much "hate" like , " your relaxed you wanna be white, and this and that" ... I used to like that hall berry short hair style . guys used to say "u wanna look white" im like ok forget it lets talk about something else.....

everyone should do what they want ! why mine anyone elses buisness?

Why does she even care, who says what on a YT video? Bottome line is, who gives a DAYUM what people think about you, your hair, who you date whatever? That is why I pay the cost to be my own boss. You should not allow people to have you so twisted that you need to make a YT video. And a video that makes no sense. :ohwell:

Uhhhhhhh! Did her vid just cut off on her when she said "let's just not take showers"....sarcasm at it's finest! I know someone just like that...the shish that spews out of their mouths.

I wonder what she would make of me. I have a relaxer but I am told I am very well spoken. She makes too many sweeping statements and generalisations.

Some folks have too much time on their hands...

She sound bitter. Old girl needs to take a time out and really talk about what is really bothering her. The bit about the colleague just had me shaking my head. Something tells me she is jealous of her popularity in the office.

She needs to kill the attitude problem pronto and not let people get to her so much.

ETA: I wonder if the "concious" colleague is a member of the board and sees this vid.... Bad move

I couldn't watch the whole thing either but I will say; A hit dog will holler; she obviously cares too much about what other people think about her.
She should rock her weave and stop giving a rats behind about other people's opinion.

this chick has issues. i still don't understand why i have to be afro centric/black power because i'm natural. i'm natural for the same reason i don't have a lawn, kids or breast implants...they all require too much maintenance.

small minds...small minds.

I like how she's comparing putting some pretty serious chemicals in your hair to basic hygiene. Way to prove them right.

when i heard about this video on NP, i couldn't get through 2 minutes of her crap. her arguments are so weak because she is going to extremes and sounds dumb. ♥

Sometimes I wonder why people even bother making YouTube videos. :ohwell:

Like twitter, FaceBook, and MySpace... YouTube was created by Satan to help those with low intellect make complete a$$es of themselves! Just because you have a video camera, that does not mean it is wise to use it!

I made it to "so called sistah's" "so called afro-centric". I don't think I want to listen to the whole thing. I do know from the gist of what has been said there are natural women who are like that, but it's not that serious to me.

I know that I'm probably going to get run off of here, but:
I have to agree with her on a lot of her points. I'm a pretty attractive 4b (which, I'm sorry, I think is a HUGE difference than the rest of the hair types) and until recently, my hair was bra strap length. I've been accused of everything from thinking I'm white to wearing weaves, but I tell 'em "check the DNA". Do I care what people think of me? Not too much, but I have gotten into some pretty hot discussions from women who wear their hair natural, because they assumed that I'm plastic. Only after I put then in thier place do they find out that I'm educated, compassionate and that my skin care regimin is 100% natural, I just choose to do something else with my hair. Then they say things like, "Oh, I didn't know that..." Like they would or should.. How we wear our hair is a choice and we really don't have a right to push our views on others unless they ask us for it.
This woman was ranting, letting off steam that's all. Black women are some of the MOST judgemental people I know and I deal with that everyday. Even on here, I notice when people say that they need advice from a certain hair type, people get offended and it will not stop until people learn that you HAVE to treat people with the same respect that you demand of others.

Have an awesome day!!!

Lol, I think she set the record for most usage of the word "so-called" in a 10 minute period. But seriously, she comes off completely deranged, and makes very, very, VERY little sense.

I think it's too bad to have so many BW who feel insulted or threatened because someone else sees, chooses and embraces the beauty of her natural hair.

I love my hair, I do. I love it despite the shrinkage, the SSKs, the "unmanageability", the bad hair days, the stereotypes, the assumptions and anything that could be perceived bad or wrong about it. Why should that be a problem?

Every time I say that I think natural hair is better (for me) there's always somebody trying to justify exactly why she HAS TO be relaxed or explain to me that there is NOTHING WRONG with HER relaxed hair etc.

It happened again yesterday with the lady who braided my hair with extensions and SHE initiated the conversation about natural hair...

I don't feel the need to explain to people what I choose to do with hair that grows out of my own scalp. Those who feel they are compelled to do so should ask themselves why they're so bothered by someone else's choice or opinion.

I think you're missing the point. I think everyone's main problem with this woman is that she's a fool. She's equating being black to talking...well, like a fool. She's insulting natural women for choosing to be natural ("why don't you comb your hair?") while defending her right to choose to get a relaxer or weave or whatever. If she had been on youtube with an intelligent argument, it might have been cool, but she's on here comparing washing your *** to slapping some NaOH on your scalp...and refusing to acknowledge how messed up that is...

Some natural women are like what you describe. But just like you're saying all relaxed women aren't this and that, ALL natural women aren't anything either. Personally, I don't care what anyone chooses to do with their own hair.

I hate when people make argument based on something they hardly even experienced, esp when all of it based on what they read on the internet/ youtube, or experienced ONCE with One person out of 6,819,800,000 people. People like that need to get out and meet more people experience more things.

I only watched the first minute of the video, but I agree with what I heard so far. She was basically saying that she's experienced some naturals bashing her about wearing weave and relaxing her hair. This is what I'll never understand: WHY DO THEY CARE? It's not even the fact that they care that bothers me, it's how rude certain ones can come across at times. There is absolutely no need to bash someone for the way they wear their hair. If you genuinely feel that a person should go natural, there's a way of vocalizing that opinion without resorting to being negative. I'm a relaxed head, and I know for a fact that if I were to go onto a naturals page and tell them they need to relax their hair (which I would never, ever do) I would receive the bashing of my life and would be called every name from "ignorant" to "unenlightened". And if any relaxed heads were behaving like this, I would think they were rude as well. What goes for both should go for all.

I understand that going natural is a big journey for most people, but not everyone is on that journey, so I think a lot of the "natural bashers" on youtube need to respect that. One day they may go natural, but certainly not from bullying or rudeness. As the old saying goes, you attract more flies with honey.
