I just posted in the MBL thread a preliminary update pic. I know that I was very close to MBL right before I got my relaxer last Thursday. I asked her to give me a trim and she said 1/4 inch. I didn't realize until today why my hair is falling funny. It's because she turned my blunt cut to a U!!! :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash: I am close to tears because this is the second time somebody chopped me up and I didn't realize it right away. I HATE U shapes and it has taken me forever to get a full blunt. I am beyond pissed!!!! :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Just needed to vent. My sis didn't pick up the phone and I had to tell somebody!!! :wallbash::wallbash:

See my avi for my last blunt cut. Below is where I was before the relaxer. And finally where I am now (I realize it's a side pic. I'm so mad I don't even feel like taking a pic from behind). But trust me it's a U. I couldn't realize why the sides seemed so much shorter. MAN!!!! :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

I mean what is a trim - it is NOT a cut! Why would she change the SHAPE of my hair without asking me first?! I now remember that she was good for iving me a U when I went to her years ago. :nono::nono:

IMAGE_205.jpg

I have one little piece right in the middle that is less than half an inch below my brastrap. Every other piece is way above. I remember a piece on the side of my hair that when stretched came below my breast. Now it doesn't even touch the middle it. :wallbash::wallbash:

Once I calm down I'll take a pic from behind. I am so frustrated because I was finally at MBL and she ruined everything. On top of that, the experience sucked too. My sides are thin, she didn't style well, my hair is frizzy. :nono:

Thanks for listening ladies. :nono::nono::nono:

:update:

Here is the best pic I could take of my "haircut". I really don't even know what to call it. It's just plain butchered, it really isn't even a good U. :nono:

She left me a VM today around 5:00 p.m. and I called her right back. She said she was upset that I was disappointed, and that in 20+ years of doing hair I was only her 2nd complaint. She said usually people trust her judgment and since I used to go to her and stopped perhaps I didn't. I told her it was a communication issue - I understood that I had damage in the blonde parts and my ends were dry, but we agreed upon 1/4 of an inch, and if she veered from that she should've let me know before she did it. She said that she thought I knew my hair was damaged and pretty much assumed that I would trust her to use her professional judgment about how to salvage my hair.

Ok here's where I got mad. She said the unbleached part of my hair was very damaged and had a huge hole in the back, and that she didn't know if I didn't take care of my hair or just keep it balled up :blah: ....ok that's where I had to stop her. :hand: I told her I wash my hair weekly, deep condition, DO NOT use direct heat, only color and relax 2 - 4 times each per year, etc. I absolutely was not aware of one side being drastically longer than the other, and AGAIN if she noticed that, she should have said something instead of happily snipping away. And how is it that master Aveda stylists didn't notice the hole but she did??? :scratchch

She seemed offended more than anything that I didn't trust her judgment. She asked what I wanted her to do, did I want her to cut it blunt. Um hello, she will not be touching my hair again! :angry2: I had thought about asking her for free products but you know what? I don't ever wanna step foot in her shop again. I'm done!

So she lost a customer, and now she knows why.

FINAL UPDATE! :update:

I called her back yesterday and asked for a refund. I'll spare all the details but she ultimately began raising her voice and insulted me twice:

1) She said "I knew I shouldn't have taken you as a client!"
2) She said "I'll give you the refund, I know that's all you want anyway!"

I raised my voice to match hers but NEVER insulted her personally, although she has A LOT of material I could work with! I finally told her just give me the refund and asked when I could come by. She said 10:30 a.m. today.

I went at 10:30 and she was 45 minutes late. I went on a work break so I ended up having to use my entire lunch break to handle this. I showed her the pictures and of course she argued. Finally I said again to just give me the refund. She gave me $20. I told her give me my tip back too. She said the cut was $10 so I already had it. I then informed her that I would be filing a complaint and letting everyone I know know about her behavior and she told me I need medication before going back inside!!!! Just completely uncalled for!!!

Anyhow, I'm using the money to buy a bottle of Aveda Damage Remedy conditioner and will take precious care of my hair from now on. And I'll pray for her - with her attitude, she will need it!!!!!! (Oh and I talked to two other former clients of hers who were dissatisfied but never told her. So just because she has only received 2 complaints does not mean that others did not have a problem with her)!

I am so sorry this happened. You all get me scared to ever go to a professional again. I am wishing your hair a speedy growth back to MBL

You need to tell her exactly what she did and why you're upset. Stylist need to follow directions and NOT do whatever they please.

*hugs*

You are one of my hair idols and I am SO SO sorry this happened! Please take solace in the fact that if nothing else, you CAN get it back. But damn her for chopping your hair!

Thank you. The issue is I was being cheap and trying to get out of spending $100 at the Aveda salon for a relaxer. So I went to an old stylist who from what I remember, was all about hair care. Plus the Aveda stylist was not really getting my new growth straight, and because I stretch I can't deal with the texlax, halfway straight hair.

Ironically, she was telling me that I should NOT relax bone straight because I have bleached highlights. Yet she relaxed it so straight that my sides are thin. :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

I'd rather be underprocessed because that is correctable (which the next time I went the Aveda stylist did). But overprocessed with chopped up hair? That takes time and growth to fix. :nono::nono::nono:

I am so sorry this happened to you! :bighug:

Your hair is still beautiful. You are doing so well. I pray you feel better, and that this will just motivate you more. And remember not to ever go to her again.

Man I was just thinking, when my hair gets longer Like APL or longer I will go in for a professional trim. :nono:

ETA: You are one of my hair idols as well.

I would be frustrated too! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would call her & address my concerns. It won't bring your hair back, but you need to let her know that it's unacceptable.

I agree. I was trying to decide whether to tell her. Either way she's NEVER getting my money again. :nono:

Thank you. :bighug: I know it'll grow back - I remember how mad I was from the last setback 2 years ago. It just hurts because I know I was MBL before the touch up. :nono: I really hate the U shape on me, because it doesn't show the full length of your hair. :barf: I didn't think to tell her - preserve my blunt! :wallbash: She's the one who said she was taking off 1/4 inch.

I hate to say this, but at the more pro places like Aveda, they really know how to cut and they consult with you before doing anything. It's worth paying a little more to get it done right. I really want to support us, but I have had some bad experiences here. Only one really did me right and of course she moved. :wallbash::wallbash:

I'm sorry that this happened to you. You've clearly worked hard to have such a beautiful head of hair and the stylist handled it so disrespectfully. It is hard to hear but it will grow back and probably more lush than it was before.

I feel the same way. Sorry that happened to you butterfly. But your hair is still beautiful. I wish I had 1/2 your length :yep: This is the exact reason I stopped going to salons, I refuse to pay someone to frigg up my hair.

I'm sorry. You know you gotta watch them stylists like a hawk!

But you know your hair is so beautiful! You'll bounce back in no time.

Awwwwwwwww, I am sorry sorry to hear about this !!!!!!!!!! I NEVER let anyone come close to my hair with a pair of scissors. I do all my dustings, trims and cuts myself. I guess the only solace is that it is still a little early in the year and you have the rest of the year to get back to your blunt cut.

so sorry this happen to you butterfly!.... situations like this can be discouraging but halee is right....you hair is super healthy and lush....keep up the good work!!!!

Yeah....I agree with her that my ends are dry. It's weird because they are not thin, but they definitely feel damaged. Maybe next time I relax I will tell the AVEDA stylist to slightly blunt it out, so that by the end of the year it will be blunt again. I know the ends had to go eventually, but I want it on MY terms. I am also mad about the super long lock of hair that was massacred. :nono: (It was on the side of my hair and did not stick out, so that shows that the sides of my hair WERE really long. :wallbash::wallbash:

wow, I'm sorry what happened. Didn't the stylist noticed how your hair was hanging b4? How do you gofrom a blunt cut to a u shape w/ 1/4" trim? Maybe she likes the u shape but that's not her hair, it's yours. Sometimes these stylists (not all) only care about what they want not the customs wants or needs. I guess she just lost a customer & money.

I understand how you feel since this happens to me alot. People are so unprofessional and assume rights just because they're licensed. It'll grow back before you know it. BTW, you're lookin' good  in spite of your negative experience.

the only reason i dont let stylist trim my hair is, not becuase they'd cut off more then they should, but im afraid what i will do to them once they do. id be arrested for sure, cuz i will fist her dead in her mouth a few times!

She definitely prefers U's. She did that to my hair years before and I was annoyed but didn't sweat it. But this hurts because I've been working extra hard to preserve my double processed hair and it was finally almost where I wanted it. :-( Did I say I hate U's?! :wallbash: I know I did, but I had to say it again. :giggle:

TY. Girl that smile was before I realized what she did to my hair.

the pics are no longer showing up :look:
Weird, I can still see them...:scratchch

Ok ladies, I left her a message with my number asking her to call me back. I told her I had pics of how it looked before and that we had agreed upon 1/4 of an inch, but in some areas she took off way more than that. I told her I had been growing my hair out for years and I was very upset to lose the length. I was about to start crying on that VM! :lachen: My sister recommended that I ask for a free service but to be honest I don't want to go back to her again, free or not. Maybe a free product!!!! :lachen:At the very least, I hope that she will think about me and do better consultations with her clients in the future before she starts trimming.

I am so sorry you had to go through this bull. It's a shame that stylists don't listen to their customers and just do whatever they want. We're the ones paying them and WE are in charge ... but not in their minds. Grrrrrrrrrr ...

However, I am simply amazed at how much your hair has grown since October 2007 (the pic in your siggy). Your hair is BEAUTIFUL ... and you managed to grow it long and strong with highlights to boot.

You should be commended!! :yay:

I'm soooo sorry you've experienced this!:bighug: I know exactly how you feel because it's been done to me multiple times!! I prefer blunt or v shaped hair as well.

Perhaps you can use castor oil and BT to thicken your edges. BT is sulfur based. Therefore, if you're allergic to sulfur then this product is not for you. I've used both and it has worked for me. I know it will grow back. Yes and I understand that you feel like you should have been progressing towards wsl as opposed to mbl. It will take time, but you'll get there. Despite the setback, your hair looks great. I wish you the best!!

Thanks ladies. I am calming down a little. But I put on the same bra I had in the first pic and she definitely took off way more than 1/4 inch even in the back, because my hair was more than an inch past the bottom of that bra and now it's pretty much at the bottom. :nono: And this is AFTER 3 months of ng was straightened.

Siiiiiiiiiiggggghhhh, I'm going to keep it up in a bun for the next 9 weeks until I relax again. I don't even wanna think about it any more. :nono:
