Hey ladies!

I'm in the middle of a HUGE hair dilema! I'll be in Brooklyn next week for work, so I made an appt. at Curve. I made it for a consultation, but they will do a service if I choose. I'm just not sure what to do with my hair. I'm not quite ready to cut off the relaxed ends b/c the length is allowing me to do my buns daily. I was planning to wait until New Years Eve to cut the rest of it off, but I won't be going to Brooklyn anytime after that unless I make a special trip. I have about 7 inches of new growth, but I'm afraid my hair will be too short if I cut it now. What do you all think? Just let them do the consult, then make a special trip back up after I chop my hair? Or suck it up and let them do their thing b/c it's only a 3 month difference?

Thanks in advance!

I think you should just cut it if you plan to chop in 3 months anyway. Unless your hair grows pretty fast, I don't think you'll have that much more new growth to work with in 3 months that it's going to make or break you.

With 7in of newgrowth you should have enough to bun your natural hair. I would go for it!!!!! I only say that because you have so much newgrowth. If you only had a lil bit of newgrowth I would only say do it if your weren't opposed to wearing a TWA (Love to look at them but I have a big head so I never sported one.) Whatever you decide I'm sure your hair wil be FIERCE.

I think you should go ahead and cut it

, 7 inches is alot of growth. After your final chop then you'll be able to say that your all natural, go for it!

I agree--just go for it! I could see if you were planning to transition for another 6-12 months, but if you've already got an appointment with them, you might as well let them do the honors....

If you were sure that you were going to BC in December, I would probably just do the cut while you're there. If you were on the fence about whether or not you were going to do it then, you might want to wait. How often to you get to NYC?

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

I say go for it. You're almost there so you might as well. Seven inches is a lot of hair.

Thanks ladies, I think I'm gonna go for it (as I bite my nails off!) I'm just afraid that if I let them cut it, they might cut too much? Should I cut it myself first? Geez, I'm getting dizzy thinking about it!

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

@ Tai, I only get up to NY about once or twice a year, which is why I'm having such a hair dilema!

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

I think you should let them cut it, that's their specialty. Don't try and cut it yourself because you might mess up the shape they would give you. I think you'll be in great hands and your hair will look awesome. I can't wait to see the pics.

Yah, let them do the cut.. man, your hair is gonna look awesome I'm sure.. I can't wait to hear how your appt. goes.. I would love to go to Curve someday..

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

Go for the cut!
I need to cut a least 6 inches of my bone straight relaxed ends soon too.
I can't wait to see the pics.

Ita!!!!! Remember to post pics!

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

Good Luck!!! You will not notice a difference if you waited three extra months. I only say this becasue my hair looks the exact same lengh since april and I can only see the length of its stretched. Seven inches of hair is a lot!!!! I have almost 6 and I can do a lot of things with it! So cave in and let them do it. Oh and dont do the chop yourself. I did it and I had to cut off two inches at the barbershop because I had no type of shape to my hair when I did the BC myself.

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

Logically, I'd say let them do the cut, but I don't know if realistically, I'd be able to do it. I don't think you have to worry about them taking too much off, though. Ok, I guess I'm saying yes, let them cut. I think

that's exactly how I feel dreemssold! But I guess if I do it now, I'll really get a chance to get used to my natural hair! I haven't been natural since I was like 11, so this is a really big step for me! I'm gonna try to go for it, but if I chicken out at the last minute, I'll let you guys know! (Besides, I know you heffas will be looking for me on their before and after section!

Yes, we'll all be looking for you.

Only you know if you're ready for the BC. I'm with Dreemssold. One part of me is telling you to go for it and another part is not quite so sure. Do you know how you plan to wear your hair once it's cut? Will 7" be enough for you if you wear your hair in buns or ponytails, etc.?

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

Hmm I dont think seven inches would be quite enuff hair to make a low ponytail...but its enuff hair to make twist outs, coils, and nice puffs

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

I'm with Tai and dreemsold - Only do it if you're ready. I know I got rid of my relaxed ends a LOT sooner than I planned but simply b/c my hair was becoming a huge hassle. If you're handling your buns ok and are not having styling or breakage issues, you may want to wait until you're completely comfortable.

On the other hand, I think Curve will be able to give you a great cut/style for you to grow out your hair. Meaning, something where the shape will hold as you continue to let your hair grow.

Good luck with whatever you decide and I support you either way!

Hairlove,

I just realized that you did your BC. Congrats your hair loooks beautiful.

Avanapooh,

You stole my idea girl

. I was going to go to Curve salon to get my BC too. But my expected year transition was cut short after I took my braids out and was so anxious to the point of getting started with my natural hair that I started cutting. I said I would cut it bit by bit, But I just ended up cutting all the relax ends off. Honestly my first few days were difficult, because I was trying to style my hair as if it was permed, but once I got the hang of twists, coils and just letting my hair BE...then I fell in love with my hair and my new image. And now that I have cut my hair and see how nce it is and how it goes along with my face, if I had to do it all over again, I probably would cut it sooner.

Hey Ayanapooh!

I know you weren't able to go to this appointment because of the hurricane..but I have a question..did they give you any kind of price range of what the cost would be? I saw a post on naturallycurly about some girl who just recently went and she said that they had raised their prices.. I saw this last week and I meant to ask you before.. but I think she said that they raised their prices from $175 to $250..something like that.. so I was just wondering if they had given you any information about prices..

Thanks! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm going to Brooklyn to Curve just to purchase the buttercreme because I've heard such great testimonials. But I have to admit, I'm quite curious, but I just don't want any texturizer...

If you ask them any questions.. let us know what they say..

Thanks!

I think you should wait. This is coming from someone who has down 2 TWA's already. I would just wait and try to manage the two textures as best as I could. I mean, it's not like you have to worry about breakage. Any breakage would just stop at the natural hair, so no real losses.

Also, the fact that you're asking yourself this might mean that you should take some more time. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

One more thing, 7 inches is alot of hair, but it's still medium length. And medium length hair is the hardest to maintain, regardless of the texture. So, yes you would have 7 inches of natural hair, but it would be just as much maintenance as 7 inches of relaxed hair, and definitely alot more maintenance than the buns that you're currently doing.

Re: Yikes! I have an appt. @ Curve next week-do I

Go ahead and free yourself - cut it! I cut off my relaxed hair when I had almost 2 inches - but 7!? - There's no reason not to.
