Yarn twist/braids etc

I've been looking on youtube and seeing how to do them and it seems everyone always has their shiny hair hanging out of the yarn which looks rough to me. Is there any way to hid your hair totally? I would like to do these after my senegalese twists.

Wrap another piece of yarn tightly around each braid or twist?? It will look kind of like dreds. DD recently did her own yarn braids and still has relaxed ends but it doesn't look too shiny.

Thank you for your reply mshoneyfly! So do like a genie lock on just my hair then use that to twist? Hmm that seems like a good idea.
I was also thinking maybe using the sttands from the yarn and encasing my strands of hair. Ill do done practicing while this style is in now.
