yep good visual, pour it over the head like that:yep:

yep the dirt comes out with it  , it really does cleanse:spinning:

the working it through and squeezing, yep that's how I do it:yep:

not sure about the towel part, I just let it drip out the rest of the way-but this might help......hmmm, not sure if it will make it tangled though-maybe just rubbing it out instead of rubbing it together?

this was a perfect vid to post for visuals @choctaw, I don't know why I didn't just go ahead a do a vid of this, I know when I started doing this I wasnt on youtube yet tho

it does feel clean:yep:

eta , the second vid talks about using olive oil instead of mineral-they are saying the downside is the cost being higher than mineral oil, but also I think there is more nutrient value with olive oil as opposed to mineral oil

also I think with natural oils you might not need a hot towel to get it out , but it's an option to consider for those that want all the oil out:yep:

Irresistible, i am soooo excited about this new way to clean my hair!

AGAIN,THANK YOU!

i'm also thrilled that i found an indian store that has a bottle of coconut oil for 1 euro so i can stock up!

i plan to melt it into liquid form then transfer it into a tub like jar so that i can scoop it out easily with my hands and with its consistency, apply much like a conditioner.
then to help get it out, i plan to use a lighter more liquid oil like grapeseed or sunflower, which is also good for the ceramides.

i read that hair needs to be clarified before doing henna and am curious to know if this would do the trick? does anyone have any ideas?

i do not use cones regularly, but there is one at the bottom of the ingredient list on the ORS Carrot oil, though i only use that oil like once a week.

i also read where sleeping with mustard oil on after the henna will help to darken the color.

has anyone tried washing with mustard oil? i know it's really good for the hair as it has natural sulfur in it and others have reported that it softens ng, too.

happy oil washing, ladies!

Be careful about clarifying hair with shampoos before henna. Rice bran oil has ceramides, gives a good oil rinse and may be a good oil wash. Henna is very drying but using an oil wash to clarify sounds excellent because the hair will be clean and pre-oiled.

I oil my hair over night with mustard oil and wash out with conditioner; oil rinse with mustard oil; add it to henna pastes; add mustard oil to ayurvedic and castor oil rinses; oil my scalp and edges but I have never oil washed with it.

I learned about mustard oil the first time I did henna on clarified hair without oil in the paste or in my hair ... it was the only oil that relieved the dryness. I do not omit oils from my henna pastes. Oil does not impede uptake of henna on my hair. The greys are dark copper. I have natural type 4 hair, your experience may differ. HTH

How long does it take for the hair to dry so to speak?
Does the oil that's soaked into the hair block the hair from misturizing/sealing (m/s) should you decide to m/s days thereafter?
About how much oil are you using if you had to guesstimate?

I never did buy into the oil sealing in moisture-I think hair reaches saturation regardless , either with oil or something else

Ive always oiled my hair first before product

the naturals oils do absorb-not seal

eta: enough oil to fully saturate the hair and scalp, then removing the excess by squeezing it out

how the oil rinsing thread was born on here-I suggested earlier in this thread that whoever didn't feel comfortable with oil left in the hair-it could be rinsed out as well lol

Yeah, I think oil should go on first (when wet)---it absorbs so nicely and softens the hair. I don't think people realize, but conditioners are designed to put oils back in the hair (with synthetic ingredients) after shampooing. This is a way to skip the synthetic conditioners and just use real oils to absorb into the hair. The sealing thing...well it sounds nice--I like to layer on my products too-- so sure, ucan call it sealing.

irresistible, I never liked the way shampoos or conditioner made my hair feel either. I think we may be hair related in that regard! Thats why I love butters and now oils too!

I gave this the hmmmmm face but then again my hair takes well to oil when it's wet, that is the only time I do oil so I might have to give this a try...My mom is also a og cowasher, she never uses shampoo on her own hair like NEVER...Lookin good!

@Lita, good job bumping this important info up!

thanks to this important info and the wise words of experience @choctaw, i am happy to report that i will be doing my first henna ever in 3 days and have planned to skip the clarifying poo and do the oil washing a day before the henna.

i don't have the rice bran oil yet, but got plenty of mustard oil and will be using it lavshly!:yep:

hhj ladies!
