Winter Regime

Anyone changing their regimes to a winter one? If so, what are you doing differently from your summer regime?

I am going to use a heavier leave in. I am also thinking about straightening during the colder months.

Using a heavier leave-in, and co-cleansing less. Blow drying my roots, instead of straight air drying. Using more tea tree in my hair products, to soothe my scalp.

I think im just gonna get me some Curl Enhancing Smoothie and use a very light coating of gel on my curls and go back to wearing twists a few times.

I might do mostly blowout styles tho now that i think about it...i have a lot more length than i did last year. :)

Heavier Butters/Cremes/Grease/Pomades. Heavier Cowash Conditioners and Heavier DC Rx's. Steaming.

Coffee/Tea Rinsing. And protective styling (Wigs).

I'm just going to do 2 braids with Afroveda's shea amla and castor oil. I am going to have to wait for more texture to come in before doing flat twists. I am working on not using direct heat. I am going to use roller sets as well if I want a strait style.

More castor oil in my oil and shea butter mixes.
Moisturize 2x daily.
Light blowdry to speed air drying.
Heavier DCs: Bring AO condishes back into the rotation.
Wigs and/or phony buns.

Possibly:
Up DC schedule to every 5 days.

I am increasing my castor oil mixes
Heavy sealing with shea butter mixes
Using silk scarfs underneath hats
Style might need to change as my hair gets longer, we will see.
Using less coconut oil

With the start of fall in Chicago wash & go's are gone so my new routine is
Friday night pre poo with oil
Saturday wash deep condition steam for 25 minutes let air dry
Sunday maxi glide
Monday - Friday spritz water & Lilly of the valley & Shea butter on the ends and roll every night

I pretty much do the same thing all year.

The only additions during the cooler months are:

-the Jane Carter Solution Nourish and Shine

-the Jane Carter Solution Hair Nourishing Cream

-Curl Prep's Sweet Buttah

Every winter, I "plan" on doing rollersets, however I try it once or twice, get discouraged, then continue the braidouts I do all year. Then I get jealous when I hear of other naturals who actually did the rollersets and how much length they retained in the winter months.:ohwell:
Hopefully this year, I will break the cycle and stick with rollersets.

I plan on rollersetting all winter. Join the rollersetting 2013 challenge and stay encouraged

I'm not changing anything really cause I'm in FL. Maybe if it gets to cool to cw ill just use my spray bottle mix instead

Recommendations for heavier daily moisturizers/leave-ins?

ManiiSweetheart
Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Elasta QP Mango Butter, Cantu Shea Butter Leave In (causes build-up quickly though), regular Shea butter.

I've also found that ligher leave-ins or moisture sprays sealed with butters/oils work well when in protective styles.

This winter I plan to avoid all "out" styles (braidouts/twistouts/puffs), DC with heat at least once a week unless in a long term protective style, keep hair covered when facing the elements, moisturize & seal nightly as well as making sure I drink more water then usual.

This is my first autumn/winter on my HHJ so everything I'm doing is trail and error. My plan is:

Use a heavier leave-in
Use a cream stylers instead of gels
No more weekly shampooing (only shampoo when I feel buildup)
Keep hair in a bun unless it's necessary to wear it out
DC twice a week
Incorporate JBCO into reggie
Diffuse/soft bonnet attachment more often to cut down on drying time
Wear slik scarfs under my hats

Hopefully this will keep my hair moisturized and my ends protected. I'll tweak as I go along if need be.

- use mainly co-cleansers (no mud-wash or shampoo)
- Very few WnGs
- pretty much maintain my fall schedule of co-washing regularly, monthly light-medium protein treatments, sealing with butter, and buns.
