WIG CHALLENGE for 2007

Great progress HOPEFUL - you know you're always welcome to rejoin if needed. But work those cute twists girl! ;)

Welcome PretiGyal! Your styles look GREAT!

PoetryGirl - I remove the combs attached to the base -- maybe my head is just big :) but I don't need them.

My wig regime inlcudes:
  • Braid my natural hair in a deifferent pattern every 2-3 weeks.
  • Con Wash every Tues, Thurs, and Sun.
  • Prepoo (pre-CW) with a heavier con or oil w/ heat for at least 60 mins before each Con Wash.
  • Apply Leave-in (Scurl, Braid or Dove spray), and then seal with oils- WGO or Castor
  • Apply baggie overnight
I've been seeing such cute styles - that WIGs are defintely growing in popularity!:D

Hopeful you got me to thinking so you were helpful! my friend said I could be braiding my hair too often and that could also be the culprit.

CurliDiva - How do you CW with the braids in? I thnk I may try to leave the braids in longer than one week, however my hair is short and seems to become loose after a few days.

Thanks ladies for your help!

I need to join this challenge because I am getting lazy with my hair even though I don't have to do anything to it.
Just make sure if it is half wig that is SECURED on your head. ;)

 Girl, I need all my hair covered up now!!! I will be wearing whole head wigs much to the dismay of my SO. I will be on the guard for the whole head wig now but if anything happens, you know I will just pick it right up, put it back on my head, and keep on tricking!

I use a thinner conditioners for CWs- like Suave, Aussie or V05 - so they rinse easily out of my braids. I have HIH (hands in hair) disease :ohwell: so keeping my hair braided has been a life saver!

Lovin this thread! You must have read my mind...LOL:lachen::lachen::lachen: I just purchased a wig today because I was thinking about summer protective styles. I am also trying to get past this shoulder length stage thats taken "FORREEEEVVEERRR"....................So this would surely help me out!

COUNT ME IN! (My digi is out of commission right now, I will post pics as soon as its out of the shop)

I went back to buy another of my favorite wig and the store did not have my color!

Now I have to find another BSS that carries the Vanessa line of wigs.

p.s. Welcome Treasure!

i would like to find some half-wigs with higher quality human hair so i wont have to replace mine so often! i wish katour's site sold 1/2 wigs.

Im still in! I was tempted to wear my hair out but I had a personal goal of making it until at least June 1st. Im thinking of getting some kinky twists next week to change things up..

Hey

How's this challenge going for everyone?

I joined early on but only recently plucked up the courage to go buy and wear a fall/half wig.

For the past 2 weeks i have been wearing half wigs everyday and i wish i had done this as a protective style a long time ago.

I have 1 question - My hair seems to dry-out quite alot under the wigs...any tips?

Right now my natural hair is in cornrow's and i put on a creamy moisturiser morning and night Kids Organics Shea Butter Leave-in) and then apply oil/grease to my scalp every other day.

Hi Bublin,

I use the Kids Organics Shea Butter too and LOVE it!

Try spraying your cornrows with a water-based leave-in (or braid spray) FIRST, and then apply the Kids Organics and seal with oil.

Remember only water moisturizes. The Shea Butter and Oils may be coating your strands, but not adding much moisture.

Good luck!

I am still hanging in there. I have been wearing my curly for the past three weeks. It has saves me some major time that I did not have.

I am telling you, you can not beat this style when you have to travel and are in meetings from sun up to sun down. It is the best!

I will be doing this for the whole month of June.

I am not too sure about the first few weeks of July. Trying to determine a style for my wedding and right now I am just stuck. I see styles but then I think about what I may have to do or drive miles and miles to go and get it done.:perplexed

Has anyone heard of OR seen a synthetic LACEFRONT wig?

A woman at the BSS swears that she has seen them, but couldn't provide any details about where to buy or how much. :ohwell: Some time I think other just like to TALK but if such a thing exist, I would like some details.

Call me thrifty.....but I refuse to pay hundreds for a real lacefront!:)

Congrats Cocoface on the upcoming wedding!

I went to a wedding recently and the bride wore a pretty braided style. It looked like thicker micros that she gathered up on top, side bangs, and hanging long in sprial curls in the back.

Braids would also be low maintenece for the honeymoon.

Im In!
i just haveto find a good fall or real wig...im contemplating on buying a 210 lacefront...ughhh i just dont kno! but it is really pretty...hmmm

Thanks for this advice...i will try it out tonight.
I really think the spray stage is what i'm missing. I have Sta-sof-fro and S-Curl - will they do?
I think all the products available are confusing me - i sometimes don't know which order they go on.

I finally found this site I've been searching for. It's www.katourlinewigs.com, they have some serious styles, I know I'mma drop a pretty dime but they have so many selections. Have anyone ever ordered from them?

Hi Alli77

Katour line has some cute wigs, but too expensive.

I ordered one a little over a year ago. It was not as pictured. It was a little too thick for my taste too. They do have a good return policy, just don't remove the tags. I am tempted to order again.

thanks for the review niva. I plan on taking it a stylist and razoring/thin it out if it's too thick and wiggy looking. Did you find the the color of the wig look natural? Was it overly shiny and fake looking and did it look like AA hair?
