I will be getting my Caruso tomorrow. Is there any thing paticular that any of you do to acheive the great curls?

I am just looking for some suggestions.

Thanks in advance...;)

OK....my PJism wouldn't let me rest, so I picked up my rollers today. I got them at Sally's Beauty Supply for $27 with the $3 coupon. I'll post pics once I try them next week.

same here picked mines up from sally's, and utilized that 3 dollar coupon, almost started to buy other things, but stayed focus, and went in and out...

Ladies: I purchased my caruso's today at Sally's with the 3 dollar off coupon and the cashier had the nerve to tell me "you know those use no salt and it will make your hair nappy". Now ladies you know I got upset and it was an AA lady. I calmly replied "Yes I know and I like my hair nappy". I just had to let you guys in on my hair experience for today.

I bought mine today at Sally's too!

I just purchased one an hour ago from Sally's. I am going to wash my hair tonight and let it hair dry (I have been trying to stay away from heat). I will try these steam rollers tomorrow.

I Have been trying to stay away from heat myself, but is this considered a good kind of heat. I dont want to have to flat iron my hair. So I'm considering buying these before they go off sale.

Beautiful curls! What are specific Staple leave-ins for your hair that took you from your before pic to after caruso pic? I have the caruso set too and it does add tons of moisture to the hair itself.

Thank you. In my hair I didn't add anything since the wash I did a few days before the Caruso pictures were taken...I don't have anything in it other than Sebastian Potion 9 and Motions Nourish left in from that wash.

Your hair looks so beautiful and healthy! Your skin is very pretty too. :yep: I want some caruso rollers too, but I want to see a few of the transitioners results.

Thank you so much. I don't know about the skin, but I accept! :) I'm one of your biggest hair fans.

Yea Starian...I'm a Caruso pusher also. Your hair looks wonderful..too bad i'm too lazy to post pics of my hair. I think that anybody on this site who doesn't have a caruso setter should be ashamed of themselves and we should ban them from this site. Yes, they are that good. I have the same results as u when i set my hair. I bought mines from sallys, maybe 7months ago, for $29. Hey i tried a spiral set today using the 6 small plus and 6 small rollers. It turned out AWESOME!!!!! I didn't leave the rollers on for the full 10 mins. More like 8 mins, and my hair came out with shiny spirally body waves. I set it this morn and it's still wavy tonight. For those who asked, no u can't set wet hair, and you shouldn't put anything in your hair that 'wets' it before u set it. I usually put a dab of serum just to increase the shine and decrease any frizzies. No need for setting lotion. but if you did want to use setting lotion...u'd have to apply a dab to your hair, let your hair dry and then use the rollers. I tried setting lotion the 1st time i did it and my hair didn't dry(too much moisture), when i removed the rollers, the wet hair just hung there. The instructions for the set is there is a 'setter' that blows a steady stream of steam. You have to sit 1 roller on the steam for 10seconds, then roll your hair, then grab another roller, sit on the steam for 10secs, roll your hair and so on and so on. I usually use 9 rollers (6 med and 3 small plus)for the full curly bouncy rollerset look. It takes my about 10mins to apply my rollers. After I apply my 9 rollers, i hop in the shower, then lotion up, brush my teeth, then i take the rollers out and my hair is set. i throw my clothes on and out the door i go... Most of the time I wash my hair on saturday, i'll blowdry it somewhat straight and use the rollers every 2 days for the week. This produces volume and body and my hair is somewhat fluffy and texturized, but not frizzy. Sometimes I'll flat-iron after I blowdry if I want my curls/hair ot appear that i have a fresh perm. okay i'll stop rambling now.... :look:

No, you're not rambling. Thanks for the extra info.:) You explained the way it works better than me, lol.

Ladies the vidal sassoon ion steam roller set is on sale on drugstore.com, for $18. It costs 29 in sallys. i think some people said they liked the vidal sasson better than caruso because it holds the curls longer. i've never used vidal but i thought i would post fo rthose interested in purchasing....

I love mine too, mainly because there is no heat and it works so well!
Thanks for leaving me a couple comments in my album! It means a lot to me to get feedback from you, I"ve admired your hair for the longest! Thanks again.

I have some that I bought last year because of Adrienne. I love them but it took forever for my hair to dry and if your hair is not dry then it will become frizzy and I just learned from another poster that if you use leave in to let it dry first. Great tip and good thread.

I just bought some and used that great coupon that someone posted (Thanks to whomever that was!) I haven't used them yet because I rollerset my hair last night, but I can't wait to put them in and see how it goes. Thanks for being a pusha Starian. :)

I ordered on Friday before the business day was over but they only shipped today. Oh, well. I will be getting them on wednesday! CANT WAIT!!!!!!

Wow! That's remarkable. Your hair looks salon fresh. I have Caruso rollers, but I've never used them b/c it seemed like too much work. I may have to break 'em out after seeing your hair...

Nice Shiny Bouncy curls. This has been on my wish list like forever. I'm wanting the revlon ionic one since it does two rollers at once.

Starian, your hair looks great. Very pretty. I love my Caruso too.

Mizani had great tips. I agree w/ everything she said. I think the most important thing is also to make sure the curl has dried or set completely before styling. When I first got my steamer a few years ago (also because of Adrienne) I was quick to remove the rollers and wound up looking a hot mess. I also did this w/ my roller sets. I now have the hang of it.

I have fine hair, and this is ONLY way I have been able to keep a curl all day and night.

Is it possible to wash your hair, air-dry it, and put in caruso rollers the same day and STILL have nice-looking curls in your hair?

Because from what I've heard so far, the best way to do caruso rollers is to have your hair blow dried straight first (or moderately straight and dry already) and THEN the caruso rollers will make your hair look really nice. Is this true or just a myth??

I'm asking because I don't want to blow dry my hair (it's too damaging for my fine hair), and air-drying takes a long time, but I would do it if the caruso rollers would be able to dry my AIR-dried hair straight/curly.

Also, how do the roots look after caruso rollers?? Can you use this type of roller on 10-12 post relaxed hair?

Well, I'm not sure about air drying...I don't see why your hair wouldn't look nice from just airdrying alone. Your hair may be a little big, but I like big hair. I suppose you could do it either way, but it's less damage without it being blow dried straight. Also, in these original photos I'm 3 months post and my hair came out nicely. :) My roots were still curly but a lot more managable.
