i used to use them in high school on my box braids. I'd wear curly styles. Is the steam better for your hair than regular heat? and what do the ion ones do?

I love my carusos, I bought them on Adrienne's recommendation almost 2 years ago. Mine isn't working right now, no steam is coming out. I'm going to buy another one soon. I've been wearing my hair up anyway so I don't need it just this minute. But those of you who don't have them should get them. It's the easiest way to curl hair in the morning while you are getting ready for work, and it doesn't cause damage. I cover mine with end wraps...I don't like the sponge directly touching my hair.

Yah, they steam.

Your hair looks very silky and smooth. I would love to try these caruso rollers but I'm not sure if they will work on my transitioning hair. Are these steam rollers? Any naturals or transitioners care to add a review?

Okay, the exact name is Caruso Professional Molecular Steam Haircare System and on the bottom of the box it says SalonPro 30 Molecular Steam Hairsetter. I believe they hit me up for 37 or 38 bucks.

Ok...now that I've stopped drooling over your hair. What is the exact name of the set you bought and how much do they cost?:sekret:

I don't know yet...I was only experimenting this time so I went and slept on my hair, lol. Next time I use them I'll be sure to post the all day results in my album.

Your curls turned out really nice. I was laughing at all the little blurbs you have under your pics. You a mess, girl!
Question? Do your curls last all day?

I didn't use anything on my hair this time. Nothings in there except whatever I put in my hair when I washed it 4 days ago. Next time I try, I'll probably use a light misting of Motions Nourish, since I don't typically use setting lotion. I'm sure the curls may have had a little more body if I had used something to help me set it.

Starian, I have a question for you. Do you use a setting lotion or foam? If so, is it diluted? And do you apply it directly to your hair or do you put it in the "water"? I know that everyone has their different methods. I'm trying to figure out which one I'll try first when I get my very own Carusos!

Actually, it does! I accidentally touched the center and it didn't burn me, but it was hot enough to make my finger red for a few minutes. I really DID burn myself when I spilled the steam water on my forearm by mistake, lol. But that was my bad, not Caruso. You just have to remember to grab it by the red circular part at the very top and shake the excess water off. Make sure to avoid the center at all costs.

So question...may seem dumb but does the center section of those steam rollers get really hot? I remember my sister had hot rollers eons ago and I accidentally touched the center and it burned me. I have no idea how to roll my hair on them with only touched the ends of the rod.

Girl, my hair never takes a relaxer bone straight, lol. My hair is type 12w, . But seriously...I have 4a/b hair and when I relax, a week later I retain about 1/4 inch of hair that didn't properly relax. I guess that makes me texlaxed also. It didn't make my hair curl up...My roots were still curly but that's only because I'm 3 months post. I think you would still get good results...perhaps if you used Caruso with some type of wet leave in you may have better rsults if you have reversion issues.

Starian-

Is your hair relaxed bone straight? I'm wondering because my hair is kind of texlaxed and has some wave/curl to it. I'm wondering if Caruso rollers will work on my hair or if the steam would make it curl up?

I'm not sure about the ion ones, but steam supposedly has moisturizing properties for your hair...I can vouch for that. My hair was a lot smoother and shinier and healthier looking and feeling after Caruso.

Okay so let me get this straight:

Do the rollers make your hair wet or damp, and then the curl comes when the hair is dried? Wouldn't that make your hair revert? Is this not a good product for natural hair? Pressed hair? I was a little thrown when you mentioned "shaking off the excess water".

I've seen these before but I'm wondering - Do you have to steam 1 roller at a time, or does the whole little case heat up?

From what I understand about how the product works, the heat from the steam sets your hair, right? But then you have a point, that would make your hair damp. Because you have to let your hair dry before you take them out. When I steamed a couple of the rollers they did have little beads of water on them that I shook off. They weren't saturated with water though. You have to steam one roller at a time, but the process is fairly quick.

You may get better answers about reversion from a natural, I'm sorry. :(

I looooooooooove Caruso rollers!! I use them whenever I need some nice, soft curls quickly and without the use of heat. I use to mainly use them several days after getting my hair professionally flat ironed because I felt that I had better results on super straight hair. But recently, I started to use them on my hair even if it wasn't real straight and I still get great results. They are so quick and easy to use! Anyway, here's a link to pics of my results (pw in profile):

Ladies: I purchased my caruso's today at Sally's with the 3 dollar off coupon and the cashier had the nerve to tell me "you know those use no salt and it will make your hair nappy". Now ladies you know I got upset and it was an AA lady. I calmly replied "Yes I know and I like my hair nappy". I just had to let you guys in on my hair experience for today.

girl you hair looks so pretty!:D i love how shiny and silky it looks! you have just added another item to my list. they are now a must have! if they can make your hair look like that with nothing in it, all i can say is wow!:)

I love your beautiful curls Starian!! I started a thread not too long ago asking for Caruso style suggestions but it looked like no one was using their Carusos (or didn't have any). Thank you for showing your styles and starting this thread!:) I've enjoyed my Caruso system for quite a while now.

I love mine too, mainly because there is no heat and it works so well!

I have Carusos and I love them! I wear my hair in a loose bun mostly so I don't get to use them much.

Pretty curls, Starian!

Oooh Starian your hair looks really nice. Didn't I tell you that Caruso is awesome. I wish I would have packed it with me when I evacuated  Once again, great hair!!

great job.

Girl who telling? I have been using that system for a solid year. It has been the only thing that has allowed me to be get rid of those dreadful curling irons. My hair has been the healthiest it has ever been since. I threw those curling irons out months ago.
