Why shouldn't you put Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Treatment on Your New Growth?

I am natural right now, so maybe my post will be ignored...but I was always looking for something really good to protect my hair with after I based my scalp heavily with Palmer's Shea butter mix.

Maybe because of how thick this stuff is, it is a great hair protectant for people who do their relaxers slowly and move beyond the 10-15 minute time frame usually allowed for application. I know I would have loved to have something that would protect my hair yet still allow me to move slowly while I was applying the relaxer. For people afraid of double relaxing their hair....

...this product as a relaxer hair protectant might be a dream come true...

Don't know because it's not been proven, but what do you guys think???

No problem! I love this stuff and it makes my hair new growth, and relaxed happy!

I sometimes use this to protect previously relaxed hair from overlap.

My all time favorite leave in conditioner. I will never stray. I've definitely wondered this myself, and I'm glad to know that this is referring to application during or before applying a relaxer.

ladies.. I used this last night on my NG.. I was supposed to relax today at 12 weeks, but after that little tub of magic hit my new growth.. i'm gonna continue my stretch for at least another 4 weeks.. It melted, I mean seriously melted away any knots, tangles and I was able to cornrow my hair without any breakage which Ive been scared to do because i would need to rip thru the new growth.. This is definately my newest staple..

I just discovered Cantu Shea Butter Leave In and I love it on my new growth!! It's so much softer now. I'm currently 9 weeks post (shooting for 16!) and usually by now my new growth is out of control!! I'm not sure why the container says to not use on new growth. I also research the previous posts. They were all negative and I was tempted to return the Cantu. But it only cost $5 so I decided to keep it and at least try it for myself. Glad I did. I like it!!

I used to love Cantu but ever since reading that warning I stopped dead in my tracks :perplexed

Mind you I have tons of it left and there is a half empty container of it next to my bed so I see it when I go to bed and shake my head.

Just last nite I was staring at it and wishing I could use it again....maybe this post is a sign for me to jazz it up with some olive and castor oil and give it another shot.

It would sure save me from having to stock up on Quemets Amla and Olive heavy cream for a few weeks  (I love that stuff but at $16 plus shipping and handling .....using up my 2.5 containers of $5 Cantu that I have lying around my house would be preferable before ordering any more)

I tried it a while back and I remember that it made my hair kinda crunchy. I really wanted to like it.... maybe I'll run to Wal-mart and give it another try. I'm such a PJ :nono:

You know I think with the relaxed hair it really depends on the how clean/dirty your hair is and wet/dry along with how much. I have had the crunchy as well as that magical my hair feels like silk and can not for the life of me figure out the right combination. Now on the new growth it just works wonders as a detangler for the wavy part of my hair located in the front half of my head. I have to admit that doesn't say much to me because that hair likes almost anything and submits to taming. When I take these box braids out of my hair in the back I will try it on my coils, that hair prefers to be just left alone and woe unto me if I want to tame it with brushing or combing:nono:. If Cantu allows me to comb there I will be happy as most products just give the coils more definition but don't neccasarily allow me to comb without the coils becoming frizzy coils. I think it would also make a good conditioner due to the slip it gives. Has anyone tried that?

As a side note still no response to my email which is a :nono: in my book regarding customer service.

I think when I tried it a while back, it was on freshly washed hair. That was pre-LHCF when I felt like my relaxed hair always had to be "done" (straight). Now that I'm attempting a 6 month stretch and have a couple inches of NG, I may give it another try. It's a protein leave-in, right?

ya I think it has collagen in it
but it apparently doesn't have that much protein...
