I think it's the mineral oil. Mineral oil is a no-no on this board P

Mineral oil is a "no-no" in maany places; unless, of course you want it for your auto. Seriously, for hair, I can not think of a need for it. The molecules are too large to penetrate the hair to do any good. It's not unsafe, as much as it is unnecessary for hair care.

What do you ladies think about the B&B Oil Moisturizer Hair Lotion w/ Castro Oil and Aloe?

I was going to try it but then I noticed that it had mineral oil in it. It is not the first or second ingredient, but I am scared of that stuff so I never used it. I know that some ladies swear by it.

I don't think Pink Lotion is the devil. I think it is part of a plot (I know conspiracy nut) to keep black women bald and broke. I have seen more people LOSE hair and self esteem to that Pepto Bismol colored tar than any other product...

I used Pink Oil Moisturizer (yeah right) all through high school and the longest my hair ever got was APL. I would buy it religiously and many times, there would be stands of hair on my back like crazy. I didn't know why but it made my hair greasy and was not moisturizing as it is an oil, which we know that the molecules in oil are too large to penetrated the shaft of hair and infuse moisture. That is why many of us recommend using water-based moisturizers.

Um, well I am right along with you. I just can't believe with all the labs and researching companies do that they don't know that this stuff is bad for our hair. Well, I am convinced that they do know but they want to keep us continuing to spend money and coming back to them trying to buy products that we are led to believe we need to make our hair grow or keep it from being too short. Most of our hair is already short anyway but we don't want to be *gasp* bald so we keep on buying this thinking we are caring for our hair.

It seems as if a customer who bought a product that doesn't work, would stop buying it and go somewhere else. The problem that comes with many black women though is we don't understand it is not working and think that our hair is meant to be no longer than shoulder length so if we think this, then we have no idea that it might be *gasp* the products that are marketed towards us. Add in not knowing that oils don't moisturize and other hair care knowledge and you have a huge company profiting off the ignorance of a whole group of women.
