I lived in Korea in '96 and '97, and guess what? Their wrath isn't only reserved for Black folks. They're like that to EACH OTHER, too! They're equal opportunity a$$holes.
If you've lived IN Korea WITH Koreans, you get a better understanding of their culture and mannerisms. My cousins get mad and see disrespect in their actions, but I don't. I guess I just see them through different eyes. They absolutely crack me up!
I vividly remember being lost as HELL when I first got there. I was in this city called Kwang ju (which is like 4 HOURS from where I was SUPPOSED to be!). Well, I'm on the dang bus with very little won, and I'm asking the driver does this bus go to the train station. He told me in no uncertain terms - either I want on the bus or no. If so, give him my money, sit down and shut up. If not, get off his bus. What made it so funny yall, he was PARKED at the bus stop with the engine off, reading a magazine - so apparently he was running WAY ahead of schedule, and needing to kill a lil time. He had all the time in the world, and was STILL trippin cause I had a question, and interrupted his magazine reading.
Thank God for the Jehova's Witnesses that were out there. (Yes yall, they are even in the middle of nowhere Korea!) But they made sure I got to the train station and on the right train (in exchange for a few minutes of my time and a couple of their pamphlets, of course.
) But God Bless 'em for that!
Another time, two shop keepers almost came to blows when I was trying to buy a leather coat (which they both happen to be selling in their stores) and I asked how much? He said "how much HE say?" pointing at the stall across they way? I said "$80". He said "I give to you for 65."
The other shop owner saw me leaving with that coat and was HEATED. He came over and they started arguing and cussing each other out - too crazy.
Those are only a couple of my funniest memories (of the many thousands) of my time living there. Koreans are COMEDIANS to me!
