This is what my friend said to me the other day. I think i almost fainted right then and there. Also, the other day i said i really didn't want to take swim class because the chlorine is very damaging. She was like, "It will grow back". Aaaah!. Seriosuly, I have decided to stop telling people about this forum or anything about haircare, becaue they think I'm out of mind. We've been so miseducated about our hair, it's kind of sad.

Smack her! J/kHonestly I wouldn't have answered her. I don't answer ignorant questions like that. Let your beautiful hair answer for you!

yep. a few years ago my friends would make fun of me visiting the forum and they were like "you think using products with big names like nexxus will make your har grow?" Now they see the progress and they're rushing off to buy everything im using. do your thang

"Wow so everything she uses in life and on her hair is black related? WTH:lol:"

At first I thought she was kidding, but know she was dead serious, looking like I was the crazy one.

I do that too, it works. I think it´s best w a swimmer´s/hard water/clarifying conditioner. If you DC after you ll be o.k.!

I act like I dont hear remarks like that or change the subject. I just wouldn't have justified her with a reply.

sweetascocoa...........I use to get the same questions about my so called "non black" products. People use to think I was wasting money on Nexuss and Paul Mitchell. These same people just watched me grow.

I don't discuss hair care outside of the boards - people can have silly reactions sometimes and I know I'm not prepared to deal with them.

BTW, the idea of protecting your hair before swimming is a good one. Go for it and good luck reaching your goals.

Same here. I don't really mention LHCF or my goals to anyone really. Also for the swimming, I heard coating hair with conditioner protects it but I would prob do more research.

Ahhh, yes...Carter G. Woodson wrote "The Mis-Education of The Negro," more than sixty years ago yet miseducation still rears it's ugly head. I have sadly stopped telling people about LHCF. I, found the site while searching for hair conditioners and the site popped up on a search engine; let them find it the same way. I have found it is a waste of time trying to re-educate most women on the very real possibility of healthy, retained strands of hair. People write down the site address, I'll check later...she forgot to look, she doesn't have time, she doesn't believe it's true. I bought products for someone to help her dry hair, she does not use them. I was even put down for needing a touch-up so soon.."You don't need one, I do not see any new growth on you;" little did she know I know how to moisturize and wear protective buns to hide the naps. Sad to have to keep such a gift as :rosebud: LHCF to myself...sigh......

honey dont even worry about it.. proof is in the pudding as one said.. grow your hair and when they loook at you they gonna be like ...

GIRLLL WHERE ALL THAT HAIR COME FROM? must BE A WEAVE...

*Does a white girl toss*.. weave? what weave? Hahhaa..

I'm not Indian either, but I love Indian products and they return the love:grin:
Ignorance runs deep - how many times has someone told us "it'll gorw back". If we didn't want hair we wouldn't grow it!

Keep doing what you're doing, then let your friend see the results of your Indian products. She'll be snatching stuff off the shelves faster than you!!!

She needs to be empower with knowledge may be can view this site as vistor just to be educated.

Please don't tell people what you're using or that you're trying to grow out your hair. Just let your hair do the talking. I have found that when I tell people what I am doing, they immediately tell me that something is wrong with me. So I just shut up and let my hair speak for itself.

Don't be sad, there are rookies like me who just joined and is hanging on to ever piece of great advice she receives here!! So don't ever be discouraged. I know there are a huge amount of lurkers who don't post here who are reading too. I'm just a big mouth in person and online! LOLOLOL

right now with these braids in, there is no swim cap that will fit over them, but i have been shamppoing and doing a dc after i swim. From now on, my lips are sealed in regards to anything hair-related (except for this forum, of course).
