I have been at or a few inches above APLfor at least 6 months....it's probably closer to a year. I thihnk my problems are triplicate.
1) when I forst shaved my head(pre hair boards), I did not take care of my hair. I just styled it and braided it. Often I didn't mositurize it for months. I ripped through the take down and then blow dried quickly on high. I think that hair is beat up(it is now my ends) and (2)I constantly am still trimming it
3) I be all up in my hair trynna do 50-leven thangs I read about on here and other forums. My routine is hella simple now. I Juice and seal with castor oil, keep my hair stretched at ALL times and DC weekly. I think I will finally be in BSL's neighborhood this year. My goal is up up and away till the end of december. This time I am moisturizing my hair while it is away.

Another stuck sister here. when I stretch my hair now, it the same place as in my avatar. Who knows why, plus my hair is thinner now. I just want thick hair. Apl thick would be ok with me.

Ive never had any breakage or shedding issues. I have been stuck at BSL I think for almost a year now because I:

*Hardly Deep Condition
*I wont protective style....I feel naked when my hair is not in a wash n go
*When I do S&D I usually end up cutting an inch off anyways
*I think I may be slow growing because I dont eat as much protein as I should

I have been at APL for the past year. I finally made BSL after 6 months of straight HIDING my hair, but lost it in about 5 minutes when I asked for a trim at the salon. At least I know it's possible.

BREAKAGE! My sink was Hair City from shampooing, blowdrying and flat ironing errryday. Yup! No wonder I even have any hair left. Since I've joined LHCF, I've learned alot. No more breakage but shedding like crazy! I'm working on it.

I bc'd in aug of 2008 and Im only at SL....in the back anyway. The front is just.....whoooo, frustrating as hell. I voted I don't know because I have more than one reason as to why I think Im stuck. First one is all those darned braids I used to wear. And stupid me I would keep them in for like 3-4 months straight, take them out, and go get the re-done. Then in November of 2009 I had a lot of hair cut out due to braid damage. So Im stuck right now. Edges all eaten up, nothing seems to be working. Another thing is breakage. I have done protein treatments...even after 2 step Aphogee treatment my hair is still the same...breaking. Im thinking maybe my iron levels are low because I do not eat much meat so Im gonna try to up the ante on my iron and may try something that will give me more moisture. I gotta go to the doc too to make sure Im not having thyroid issues. But yeah Im damn stuck. Stuck at SL.:sad::sad:

I chose breakage....I bced in July 2007 and for two years I went from braid to weave with very little care and my hair grew, thinned out and broke off. My friend referred me to lhcf in July 2009 and I've a learned a lot since then which has led to full neck length now. I have fine 4a/b hair and I think I took moisturizing to another level altogether. So lately, my hair sheds and breaks by the handful. I used DRC last week and hoping to restore the moisture protein balance in about 2 months :ohwell:

so basically in order to avoid being stuck we all need to stick to our healthy hair regimen ... no slacking, and also ensure that the styling processes(heat etc) and styles (im including colouring here) we use are not hindering our progress.

I recently coloured my hair and now have to tweak my reggie in order to keep my hair healthy!!!! by adding more use of my porosity control, protein/ceramedes and JUICE !!!!

great thread, eveyone should take something from these experiences.

I voted "Other", because I am not stuck anymore, but for years, I was stuck at SL (like 10 years)...I think that my issue was a combination of scissor happy stylists, too much heat, not moisturizing my hair enough, and me wearing my hair down everyday.

Once I cut the flat ironing everyday out, put my hair is low-manip styles, and started actively caring for it, it has flourished and I am well on my way to reaching my hair goals.

I voted constant breakage because I wear too many wash n go's and I get knots and splits now. Before wash n go's never gave me any issues but I just can't do them now especially if I want to reach my goals.

I'm working on keeping my hair stretched for the meantime.

Great thread! Currently I'm getting unstuck. I've been stuck between BSL and MBL because I keep cutting it in search of perfect ends. My hair is underprocessed in areas and I would often mistake these sections for damaged hair and trim it, only to have the same issues in 1-2 months when I hit another underprocessed sections. I finally see the light and I'm gonna roll with it.

When I was stuck at BSL for 8 months, it just seemed to stay in one spot. I started PSing and it finally broke that plateau.

too many setbacks. :nono:
- using permanent color
- using too much protein
- using too much heat
- hard water damage
- not reading product ingredients first
I got all the way to below collarbone and after the setbacks I am now above shoulder length again.

I am finally starting to see progress now that I am PSing more often.

For about two years in my four year journey I was wearing my hair out all of the time due to a committment I had made. Due to being rushed and generally not taking great care of my hair I had a major setback and got stuck at APL (not full) while I trimmed to let that area catch up. That time with my hair out also resulted in a ton of ssks that meant I was constantly trimming any progress.

Now that my hair is once again my own to do what I wish, I am on a 2 year personal C&G Challenge. I thought I would spend most of it in braids but I just discovered kinky twist and I really love them. The next year will spent psing in kinky twist and I am hoping to finally make it to BSL.
