Who's pushing for CollarBone Length? Let's start a challange!

From my understanding, collarbone is right at the end of your neck where your shoulders begin. If your har does not touch any part of your back, but covers all of your neck, then it's considered collarbone. HTH

well if we are to go with ur description then both SL and CBL should be used interchangeably bcos if it covers all ur neck then its touching ur shoulders:yep:

Okay everybody, Collarbone Length is hair that would fall right around you collarbone. Like if you put on a shirt, then if would fall just slight over the shirt.

SL hair is hair that is below the top part of your shoulders. It's below the round parts of your shoulders. That's why I said that there are a lot of people that walk around and say they have "shoulderlength" hair when really their hair is collarbone length.

Trust me on this, CBL is shorter than SL.

And I see the confusion with the collarbone vs. clavical.

Let's just keep it simple, hair that's around your collar but not by your shoulders, that's Collar Length or Collarbone Length or 10-12 inches, :lachen:whatever you want to call it, we trying to get our hair longer than our necks

Ummm...I though collar bone was the bone sticking out right below your throat that connects to your shoulder. In Katie's example, I thought it was the part/bone sticking out right under her necklace thus making it longer than shoulder length...no?

Anyhoo, I'm in

Okay, let's use the Dark and Lovely models to help us see the difference. :help2:

Katie's hair is Collarbone Length:

Rochell's hair is Shoulder Length:

See the difference? Katie's hair is not touching her shoulders, whereas Rochelle's hair is past her shoulders.

We are aiming for Katie's hair

:rolleyes: Wow!! Ooook, I got it now.:spinning: A picture is worth a thousand words I tell ya!! Thank you so much for the clarification!! I'm already at collarbone. Onto the shoulder I go!!!:drunk: Happy growing ladies!!:yep:

That is the collarbone, but Shoulder Length hair falls below your shoulders, not just touching it.

Look again at Rochelle's example, see the vast difference? Her hair is below or around her shoulders. (The real shoulders)

Look ChiChi, it don't matter, if all goes well, then your hair will be looking like Rochelle's soon

Think of it this way; I'm talking about the top part of the collar area. So look at the collar of your shirts. If you are currently Neck Length or shorter, then you want the back and sides of your hair passing your collar on your shirts.

As you can see, unless your wearing a boatneck Tee, the collar of your shirt is most likely below your neck, right? That's the top of your collarbone area.

Now let's forget about these exact definitions and start posting our starting pics and regimens!

:needpics:

Hi Guys - I see all the confusion about the collar bone and thought I'd post the definition. The collar bone and the clavicle - that horizontal bone lower than your shoulders at the top of your chest - are one and the same.

Check it out on wikipedia - In human anatomy, the clavicle or collar bone is classified as a long bone that makes up part of the shoulder girdle (pectoral girdle). It receives its name from the Latin clavicula ("little key") because the bone rotates along its axis like a key when the shoulder is abducted. (This movement is palpable with the opposite hand). In some people, particularly females who may have less fat in this region, the location of the bone is clearly visible as it creates a bulge in the skin.

Or if you don't trust them - google any ortho or anatomy website.

HTH

Well my collarbone is higher than my shoulders. I'm looking right at it. It's higher than their shoulders on some people.

Whatever ladies, let's get the hair touching out collarbone

How about we call it CL length or Collar length hair! That way the bone is nowhere in the title!! I get what you are saying and my hair is in my neck right now. I got it cut b/c the sides were much shorter than the back. The back was SL and the sides were NL, so now it is even. I can't wait for my hair to be like the models...even and CL!! I will post a pic by the wkend, but count me in today! What is the timeframe for this challenge?

Great examples. Very clear too.
Thanks so much for posting gal.
We should have a thread with "everyones" pictures!!!
There are people posting here without them and we don't know where they are....not fair :nono: I bared my soul here and "never" would I've just wanted to show my pictures...but I did. :yep:

Agreed! The bone part is what's messing me up.

I see what Ava is trying to say, but errah, it's not collarbone, it's collar(as in a shirt or blouse) length.

Since I know what's what's, I'm in! I've already reached collar length with the back of my hair, but I am now trying to reach it with my sides and the front of my hair.

Here is a link to a hair chart

I would like to join this Challenge. I am 100% natural and trying my darnest to get as much length as possible. Right now I flat iron my hair every two months to get the kinks out of my ends and to also see my progress. I think I am almost there. Hopefully I'll be shoulder length by my 1 year nappiversary!!!!!!!!

Hi ladies, I know I'm late, but I wanted to start this challenge. I think its great, has anyone made any progress? I am currently at neck length, I had a huge chop  so I am excitied to start a fresh journey in hair growth! :yep:

LOL geez, I'm still a bit confused about this length description, because honestly on me collar bone is the SAME level as shoulder and anatomically speaking it should well be if your posture is properly aligned... Neither the shoulder nor the collar bone can exist without the other, lol...

But anyways! I know Rochelle! I went to school with the girl in the pic, lol. She's a quite successful actress now, started off as a dancer - and is an AMAZING dancer... lol

Good luck all, can't wait to see all of the results from this thread.

WOW! Good luck ladies. I just past CBL and heading up, ooops, excuse me, down to APL. Happy growing to all the ladies here and don't give up.

Ok. After re-reading this thread and seeing the pictures, I'm past collerbone, so I'll shoot for full SL. Happy growing ladies!!

I'm joining! I am at neck length in the back. Chin length on the sides and right below the eye for the front:ohwell: I plan on keeping my hair well moisturized with a spray bottle of suave condish/water/rosemary EO. That's it. I am wearing sew ins and wigs all year so we will see if I make it!!! YEAH MY FIRST CHALLENGE!:drunk:
